Chapter 33
Chapter Thirty-Three
Robbie
The days after my OTT display pass in a blur of Harmony Week celebrations. No one gives Brandon and me shit, no one comments or says anything. We get a few joking comments about getting a room, but otherwise, everything is the same as it’s ever been.
But a thousand times better because I get to do it all with him.
We might have lost King of Thieves to those Kappas, but there’s no way I’m losing Master of Mayhem to Chad. Sure, he’s the prank go-to around here, but after being distracted by Bailey for the last few months, my chances are good.
I’m getting ready to head down for the vote when my phone lights up on my desk. I grin at the name and answer.
“Marshmallow.”
“Robert. How the fuck didn’t you tell me you’re with Brandon?”
I frown. “Ah … what?”
“You’re all over social media. I don’t think I’ve ever been more embarrassed for you.”
What the shit is he talking about? “Huh. Someone filmed it.”
“No need to sound so smug.”
“Well, you’re all the way across the country. How did you see it?”
“Are you kidding? I’m surprised you haven’t. It’s all anyone at school is talking about.”
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t puff up at that. “Guess I should probably tell Mom and Dad I’m bi, then, huh?”
“Or just show up home with Brandon like it’s no big deal. Only, if you go that option, I want to be there to see the family’s reaction.”
Now there’s an idea. “Deal.”
“You know, I’m sort of hurt you didn’t tell me.”
My amusement drains away. “I’m sorry. Really. Shit’s been crazy here, not that it’s any excuse.”
“It’s not.” He hums. “But I’m happy for you anyway.”
“I do have a secret I can tell you that no one else knows.”
“Oh, yeah?”
“I’m going to marry him one day.”
“What?”
“I already know.” I shrug even though he can’t see me. “I’d propose to him now if we wouldn’t have to deal with everyone thinking we’re batshit crazy.”
He makes a choking noise. “You’re serious.”
“Yup.”
“Wow. Well … in that case, I can’t wait to meet my future brother-in-law.”
“Argh.” I shake out the happiness that thought floods me with. “I’ll drag him back there with me this summer.”
“See you then. Love you.”
“Right back at you.”
We hang up, a mix of excitement and contentment flooding me. I almost want to search and see if I can find this video, but I’m already running late to meet my brothers, so I fire off a text to Brandon about it—only gloating a little bit—and head down to the war room.
Only, when I walk in, everyone is already there, and applause breaks out.
I bow because why not? But I have no damn clue what’s going on.
“We got here half an hour early,” Chad says. “The vote was unanimous.”
“Wait, what?” I look from one brother to the next, waiting for one of them to point out that they’re joking. “Unanimous, but …”
“I voted for you too,” Chad says like it’s no big deal.
“Why?”
Zeke taps something on his laptop, bringing the projector screen alive, and there I am, singing my heart out and dancing like an idiot.
“Yeah, I’m going to need the link to that,” I say.
“Why?” Zeke asks. “You guys going to fuck while you watch yourself on-screen?”
“How narcissistic do you think I am?”
No one answers, not even my own boyfriend.
I point at him. “Tell them you’re on my side.”
“Look, I would, but I’m worried that’s exactly where you were going with this.”
My gaze strays back to the screen. “I do look really good.”
Zeke hurries to close his laptop again as Chad bursts with laughter.
“Let’s do this before Robbie gets his dick out.”
Probably a fair call.
I stand at the front of the room while Zeke wraps the sacred Sigma cape around my shoulders.
It’s dark red with a fur trim, and every Master of Mayhem before me has signed it.
Zeke brings me the book, and next to the year, I write my name, and then, because I’m a top-notch, totally mature human being, I draw a heart and Brando’s name after it.
Zeke smirks and pats me on the back. “You good now?”
“Almost.”
I walk over to Brandon, and like I’m claiming a prize, I pull him into my arms and kiss him.
His eyes have darkened when he pulls back and runs his hands over the trim on the cape. “Think you can bring this to bed?”
“Damn straight.”
The others groan, and I shoot a quick wink at Brando before turning to Zeke.
“But I’m gonna need that link first.”
