Epilogue

7 months later

“Kaley if you take any longer, your party will be over before you even show up,”

I called up the stairs.

“Hold your horses,”

Eve called back. “We’re finishing her hair.”

I glanced at Mae, ready to blow a gasket. She shrugged. “Kids, man.”

I huffed, no kidding.

Garrett had insisted that our Fourth of July birthday girl deserved a big party with all of our friends and family, he even planned a firework show for the evening. More than that, he insisted we all dress up for family pictures with the horses, so we could post them for the grand opening of Chasing Daisies Equine Therapy next month.

I tugged at the A-line emerald, green dress I’d chosen, suddenly unsure if it fit the vibe of living on a farm.

Mae placed a heavy hand on my shoulder. “You look beautiful.”

“She’s right,”

Victoria added. “You guys are going to look so cute in those pictures.”

Allison grinned from her seat on the couch. “I’d get up, but I just got Bailey to sleep.”

I joined her on the couch, leaning my cheek on her shoulder. “She’s absolutely gorgeous, Allison.”

She beamed down at her daughter. “She really is.”

“How does it feel to be a new homeowner,”

Mae asked Allison as she caressed Baileys little fingers.

“Surreal. I’m so glad everything worked out with Garrett’s parents moving and me placing an offer. It’s the perfect size for us.”

I grinned. “Everything really did fall into place.”

The girls came running down the stairs.

“Come on, Mom! Garrett has Liam. It’s time for pictures!”

I laughed watching my girls bounce in place, waiting for me. Eve had done Kaley’s hair into a French braid that matched her own. Kaley wore a white dress with accents of green that matched my dress. Eve, on the other hand, wore an identical dress to mine, but with doc martens on her feet. It was perfect.

Garrett came down the stairs, carrying Liam on his shoulders. Both boys wore green flannels and dress pants. We made quite the dapper crew.

“You’re beautiful, Daze.”

He kissed my cheek before ruining the moment and smacking my ass. “Now get to the barn before the photographer thinks we are a no show at our own house.”

I rolled my eyes. “Gracious you’re pushy.”

“I prefer the term, dominant.”

Scoffing, I argued, “That’s not the term I’d use.”

He sighed and pushed me out the door. “We can argue semantics tonight.”

Brett was standing at the barn door, holding the reins of our three horses, looking a little peeved about how long he’d been kept waiting.

“Sorry.”

I winced. “You can’t rush beauty.”

He harumphed, handing me the reins. “Love you, Lu.”

“Love you, too?”

I raised a brow in confusion.

Josh helped stage the girls next to the horses, turning to me as he said, “If you ever need help burying a body, you just let me know.”

“What on earth?”

I asked, turning to Garrett.

He was grinning ear to ear as he set Liam down. “Can you give this to your mom for me, Buddy?”

Liam grinned and nodded enthusiastically, practically throwing a small box into my hands before reaching for me to hold him.

“Garrett what is this?”

Dylan’s hands bracketed his mouthed as he shouted, “Run now!”

I frowned in confusion, then gasped as I watched Garrett drop down to one knee, taking my hand in his.

“Lucy Marie,”

he began, but I threw myself into his arms, despite Liam still being in mine, and kissed him.

“Yes!”

Everyone around us broke into laughter and cheers. Josh promptly took the reins from my hands as I set Liam down and wrapped my arms around Garrett’s neck.

“I had an entire speech prepared.”

Garrett mumbled around my lips as I continued kissing him.

“You can tell me later,”

I said as I kissed him yet again.

“Can we at least see if the ring fits?”

He reached for the velvet box.

“Kiss me once more, Sheriff. Then, we can try on the ring.”

“Anything for you, Daze.”
