Chapter 20
CHAPTER TWENTY
MOLLY
I woke up the next morning with a heavy arm draped over my waist, and a hard length tucked against my ass. It only took me a few seconds to realize Parker wasn't asleep behind me as his fingers drew circles on my stomach.
"You were supposed to stay on your side of the bed," I said aloud with my eyes closed.
Parker's chuckle fanned the back of my neck. "Considering you're on my side of the bed, I think it's safe to say you didn't stay put."
His words had me snapping my eyes open. Shit! He was right. We were on his side of the large king bed. "I knew I should've made that damn pillow fort," I grumbled under my breath.
Parker's laugh rumbled against my back. I made half an attempt to pull away from him, but his arm banned me in. It was pathetic how quickly I gave up and snuggled in closer.
"I don't think the pillow fort would've done shit. I tried pushing you away to save face, but you weren't having it. Sleepy Molly likes to cuddle."
I flipped over so we were facing each other. Parker's arm never lifted. It just moved a little more south until his palm covered my ass cheek. "So this is my fault?"
"You invited me into your bed." A huge smirk overtook his face. "And it was you who gravitated toward me in the middle of the night after swearing up and down you liked to hover over the edge like a damn spider monkey."
I had said that despite knowing damn well I liked to sleep more in the middle. I huffed at his suggestive tone. "I'll have you know I've never cuddled with men before this, so how was I supposed to know I'm a cuddler."
I barely had time to digest the look that crossed his face before he was flipping me over and pressing his dick into my center.
I gasped at the feel of it so close to my heated core.
The only thing between us was my pathetic excuse for sleep shorts and his boxers.
I had felt a little of him last night when he kissed me, but it was nothing compared to how he felt now.
"Don't ever mention another man when I have you in bed with me."
My eyes sparkled with mischief. "There's that jealousy again."
"Territorial," he said between gritted teeth. "There's a difference."
"If you say so," I singsonged. I was liking the way this conversation was going just a little too much.
"If we didn't have to get up for work, I would show you the difference."
I glanced over at the clock on my nightstand. "Shit!" I tried to push him off of me. "I'm going to be late for work if you don't move your sexy ass now."
Parker did the opposite. He grinded his cock against my center, causing a moan to slip from my lips as my eyes fell closed.
"So you think my ass is sexy." It wasn't a question, and it didn't have to be. He was well aware of it, and I told him as much."
My eyes snapped open. Full of heat and ready to singe everything in its path. "Stop fishing for compliments. Now move before you get me in trouble."
If he kept looking at me like that, I was going to say fuck it and spend the rest of the day in my bed with him.
It wasn't like I didn't have the sick time built up, but it would be shitty of me to call off work so close to the start of the day and would leave the school scrambling to cover my classes.
Plus I wasn't sure I was ready to have sex with him yet. Sex was normally my go-to answer for everything when it came to men. I wanted Parker to be different, and I was slightly scared that once we took that step, it would ruin things with us.
Parker must've seen the desperation in my eyes because he didn't argue. He simply brushed his lips across my forehead before sliding off me. I let out my first full breath since realizing I woke up with him wrapped around me.
I scrambled off the bed and made quick work of getting ready.
I didn't need to wash my hair today, so I was blessed with only a quick shower.
Instead of styling my hair, I opted to pull it back into a loose bun at the nape of my neck.
The makeup I applied wasn't nearly as heavy as I normally would, but I didn't have time for more than some mascara, a hint of blush, and a brush of lip gloss across my lips.
Opting for a more conservative outfit for the day, I chose black high-waisted wide-leg dress pants with a tucked-in light pink blouse and a pair of black flats. It wasn't my normal in-your-face classic beauty that I strived for, but it was comfortable and made me look hot.
I figured I hit the mark when I walked into my kitchen, and Parker whistled at me. "You like?" I took one slow spin so he could get his fill.
"I wish I had teachers who looked as good as you when I was in school." He stormed around the island and hooked his arm behind my back, pulling me so I crashed against his chest.
"I teach third graders. They don't give a shit how I look as long as I make their school day fun.
" I rolled my eyes and tried to take a step back.
Parker didn't budge an inch. "Are you holding me hostage?
" I glanced at the clock on the microwave.
"If we don't leave in the next minute, I'm going to be late.
" I could probably stretch it to five minutes, but I knew if I gave him an inch, he would take a mile.
"Fine." He reluctantly stepped back with a heavy sigh. "I prepared your coffee to go. Did you want me to make you something quick for breakfast or hell even lunch today?"
"I'll just take a breakfast bar with me." I moved over to one of the cabinets and pulled the last one from the box. I made a mental note to get more from the store.
"And what about lunch?"
There wasn't enough time to make anything, so I shrugged like it was no big deal. "I'll figure it out."
I headed to the front entryway to grab my bag and purse. Parker was right on my heels. "What time do you have lunch? I can bring you something or have it delivered to you."
I fumbled opening up the front door as I looked at my husband like he had ten heads. "The school has a cafeteria. I can always grab something from there."
Parker walked past me like he hadn't heard what I said. I knew he did though because by the time we made it to his truck, he was scoffing, "I can't imagine school lunches have gotten much better since we were in school."
He had me there. The school district claimed they were giving the students nutritional food, but a majority of the time, it just looked like slop. I felt bad for those who had to eat it on a regular basis. "I'll be fine for one day."
I climbed in when he held the door open for me. My breath caught in my throat when he leaned over and fastened the seat belt for me. "Just making sure you're safe," he said with a wink.
It took until he was backing out of the driveway before I could form words again, and even then, I didn't know what to say.
Parker must've noticed my difficulties because he chuckled and threw a smirk in my direction before focusing back on the road.
"You might as well tell me what time you eat lunch. Otherwise I'll just ask Rhett to get the information from Elle."
Crossing my arms over my chest, I leaned back in the seat with a huff. I figured it wasn't worth the hassle when I knew he wasn't making an empty threat, so I told him what he wanted to know.
"Eleven forty-five. Happy now?"
"Immensely. I can't have my wife starving all day, and we both know that breakfast bar isn't going to hold you over the entire day."
I wanted to argue with him simply for argument’s sake but thought better of it. "I have snacks in my desk."
Okay, so maybe I couldn't keep my mouth shut. I never claimed to be perfect.
"I'm sure you do, but you can't survive on snacks alone. You need to put proper food in your body if you want to keep your energy up."
I looked over at my husband. I knew beneath the faded blue jeans and tight t-shirt there was a body sculpted by the gods. The man was all hard lines and sexy muscles. "You would know a thing or two about being healthy, wouldn't you?" The snark in my tone was strong.
"I'll take that as a compliment even though I don't think that's what you meant it to be." Parker was laughing at me. I could hear it in the way he spoke, and it made me want to swipe at him.
"I didn't."
Who was I kidding? Of course it was a damn compliment. The guy was sex-on-a-stick. I wanted to lick his damn washboard abs, and I wondered if I had the night of our wedding. It was a damn shame I couldn't remember.
Parker outright laughed this time. "Someone's cranky when they wake up late."
The man was perceptive. I would give him that. "I like routine. I prefer to wake up in the morning and take my time getting ready. I like to savor my coffee not take it to go."
"Noted. From now on, we will wake up on time or earlier than needed."
I turned slightly in my seat to look at his profile.
It was a smoldering picture for sure. One arm casually hanging over the steering wheel while the other rested on the door.
His legs were spread wide, and his posture was relaxed.
He was a woman's wet dream and fortunately all mine. "Are you always this considerate?"
The smile he quickly flashed me incinerated my panties in a flash.
Underwear? Who needed them?
"Happy wife, happy life, right?"
And he had to go and make comments like that.
"I believe the new-age version is 'happy spouses, happy houses.'"
"I prefer the old version." He looked over just long enough to throw me a wink.
Fuck, the man was going to get laid soon at this rate. Not even I would be able to push it off long due to my insecurities.
I was saved from having to say anything more as he pulled up in front of the school building. Elle waited for me as students and faculty rushed in around her.
"Did Elle know you were on the way?"
I smiled over at my best friend. "Nope, but I'm sure she planned to wait there until I arrived. Otherwise she would sound the alarm. She's my ride or die like that."
"I'm glad you have someone in your life who cares that much about you."
So was I. I didn't know what I would do without my best friend.
"I better get going." I unbuckled my seat belt, but before I could get the door open, Parker grabbed my chin and directed my attention back to him.
The small gasp fell from my mouth just seconds before Parker smashed his lips to mine.
The shock of the moment opened me up and allowed Parker to deepen the kiss with a swipe of his tongue.
I was lost.
Lost in the moment. Lost in my husband. Lost to the entire world.
Everything melted away, and I didn't give the first fuck if I was late to work or not. All I wanted was to capture this kiss and sear it into my brain for the rest of eternity.
My husband had other plans though. He pulled away with a sigh but didn't leave me wanting. One brush of the lips across my forehead, and I knew I was screwed.
"Have a good day at work. I'll make sure you have something good to eat for lunch.”
I could only nod. I slipped out of his truck in a complete fog. I had no idea if I grabbed everything I needed. I didn't have the first clue how I made it from Parker's truck over to my best friend. I could have floated across the ground for all I know.
"You okay?" Elle burst my blissful bubble and brought me back to reality. "That was one hell of a goodbye kiss."
She wasn't wrong. I met my friend’s gaze and mumbled three words, "I'm so screwed."
Parker
I watched my wife walk into the school after the kiss we just shared and could only think one thing.
I was fucked. I was in love with my wife and didn't know the first thing to do with that.
