21. Chapter 20 Ginevra
For the first time in my life, I said I love you to a woman who isn’t a member of my family. In fact, I don’t even remember the last time I told my sister or mother that. The words came out so naturally, I didn’t even have to think about it.
I’m staring down at Ginevra with the realization that we are going to be in each other’s lives forever. This marriage is happening and I have to give Cyrus credit. He’s the mastermind that started this all.
“You are an absolute vision.” Gin’s smile splits her face, her perfect white teeth on display. I have never seen this smile before. She’s carefree, beaming with a glow that could never be recreated.
I lean down, my lips grazing her earlobe. “I can’t wait to take it off you and worship you like a husband should.” She sucks in a breath and her neck grows rosy and the color climbs into her cheeks.
“Stand on this platform.” The woman’s voice pulls us out of our little bubble and they begin doing whatever it is they need to for the alterations.
My phone rings and I walk away to answer, placing the phone to my ear and not saying a word.
“Where are my shipments?” Karissa’s father yells into the phone.
I walk toward the entrance and find him standing outside the building. “What are you doing here?” I ask, stepping outside, placing my phone back in my pocket.
“Where is my shipment? I won’t ask again.”
“You don’t get to ask questions. You are the one who can’t control his own family. I never touched Karissa. I don’t hurt women or children.” I lift a brow. “You don’t seem to have the same moral code as I do though.”
His eyes grow large.
“You paid a man to hurt my fiancée. You have no loyalty. Because our family can’t trust yours, we can no longer have a working relationship. If you fuck with anything that is mine again, I will kill you.”
“That should be my daughter in there.”
I have no time for this game. I look around and spot a few of my men watching the situation. There are no citizens on the street. I pull out my gun. “This conversation is over. Get the fuck out of here.”
He takes a step back in retreat before he turns to walk away. I wasn’t sure if he would be smart enough to leave. It’s a reminder to me that I’m going to have to show the world two different versions of myself. I can’t let the outside world see the version Ginevra gets.
