Chapter 15 #3

I looked up to see him watching me with real tenderness, which I didn’t know what to do with.

Instead, I turned my attention to his fly.

Before I could talk myself out of it, I opened the button as well and jerked his jeans to the floor.

He pulled my chin up and met my lips with his, kissing me with heat now that the kiss wasn’t for show.

I sank into his kiss. When my brain tried to warn me not to get too carried away, I shut it down as best I could. I would get carried away, dammit. And I would enjoy every second. Regret was for later.

He walked us back toward the bed, bending down to lift the hem of my dress up and over my head.

“Little red corvette,” he whispered, making me laugh again. He turned us around and pulled me down onto him. I resisted long enough to get rid of my panties. I unhooked my bra and threw it somewhere behind me. Then I crawled up into his lap.

“Are you sure we don’t need a condom?”

“Completely sure.”

“They why don’t you lose the boxers?”

“Because this isn’t a race.” He kissed me again, pulling me back with him onto the bed.

I rubbed my body against him, even as his hands roamed over my skin, starting at my neck and following the curve of my spine. When he grabbed my ass, I went a little wild, my own hands busy memorizing the silk of his skin, the strength hidden beneath it.

I tugged the elastic down to free his cock, thick and solid in my grip.

Needing him inside me, I pushed up and lined myself over him, sinking down as he filled me up.

Once I was fully seated with him deep inside me, I looked up to see him watching me with lowered lids.

Intense déjà vu hit me. Either I had been here before, or he had done something to my head, because it felt like we had known each other for millennia. That we belonged together.

He flipped us over, never once letting me lose my grip on him. He pumped inside me once, twice, then he grabbed my ankle and placed it on his shoulder, pushing his cock deeper and deeper. Then, when I didn’t think I could take the pressure, he began a steady rhythm.

Hard and steady, he fucked me into the bed, his eyes holding mine captive, even though the intensity was too much, way more than I had ever experienced.

One hand held my raised leg captive, while the other played with my breast, all the while his body moved with sinewy grace.

Although it felt like he could see through me and there was nowhere to hide, the intimacy landed barely on the right side of unbearable.

Nerves buzzing, my body soared. He pushed me even higher, sensation carrying me closer and closer, until I tipped over, my body contracting without my say so, even as he continued to push into me.

I realized my eyes had shut when he lost his steady pace, and I opened them just in time to watch his face twist in a mix of agony and ecstasy.

He cried out something unintelligible and held impossibly still above me, his hands braced on either side of my torso, breathing heavily as he came back to earth.

For a long moment, we watched each other in wonder, until he finally pulled out and climbed off me. I stared at the ceiling and caught my breath. Wow.

He had gone into the bathroom, and when he came back out, I climbed out of the bed to clean up. Staring at my reflection in the mirror, my brain came back online.

Whatever that had been for him, it had not been casual for me. And now what? Oh fuck. What the hell had I done?

Nowhere near ready to face him, I decided to take a shower, turning it hot and willing it to wash away the stupidity of my actions.

The warm water also helped me think, to get my head screwed on straight.

I could not afford to delude myself. He would never magically become my boyfriend or some overly attentive lover.

And yet, our connection had grown deeper.

Sleeping with him hadn’t been the smartest move, and I wasn’t convinced he was sterile.

Because wouldn’t that be perfect—knocked up by an ancient demigod.

I shuddered at the thought of the kind of baby he would produce.

But there was no unringing that bell. How stupid had we both been, crossing this line a day or two before he took on his enemies.

I couldn’t be distracted, not now, even as I was certain he was close enough to listen to the full neurosis of my current freak-out. Get it together. Now, for fuck’s sake.

When I finally left the security of the bathroom, I found him on the balcony, staring at the sky. He held out his hand, and I took it with my left, still drying my hair with the towel.

“Fly with me tonight?” he asked.

My mouth opened, but a yawn snuck out. “Maybe I should get some rest. Besides, I’m not ready to turn into a seagull quite yet. Ask me again tomorrow.”

“How about a bat?”

“Wow? Seriously? Isn’t it completely different from being a bird?”

“Yes, you have to rely on different senses. It takes some practice, but it can be useful. Perhaps another night when you’re rested?”

“Okay.”

“Sleep well, Corvus.”

His human form shimmered and then disappeared. A small, black bat flew off into the night.
