Chapter Six
Marsh closed his eyes and counted backward from ten—three times. Didn’t matter. His dick was hard, pushing against the zipper of his jeans, and his whole body was shaking with need.
“You must be sure about this, Constance. Because once I get you under me, I’m not sure I’ll be able to let you go.”
She blinked. He was sure she would open her mouth to tell him to fuck off and leave. He practically threatened her, but his control was fraying by the second, leaving it threadbare at best.
She pressed her hand against his cheek. “You don’t scare me, Marsh. I always feel safe with you.”
It felt as if something connected with his soul, something almost otherworldly. He turned his head so that he could press his mouth against her palm. As he drew in breath, he smelled chocolate chip cookies again. It was the most addictive scent.
Is that why he always craved to have his mouth on her? From the moment he met her, he’d wanted to settle between her legs and feast. He shivered as lust heated him from within, but it was beyond anything he had ever felt before. He needed to conquer, to take everything she would give him.
“Marsh?”
He looked at her.
“Is that a no?”
She shook her head as her teeth worried her plump lower lip.
“I was worried you were having second thoughts.”
“Never,” Then, he bent down to pull her into his arms, carrying her bridal style up the stairs.
“Marsh, I can walk.”
“I know.”
“I’m too heavy.”
He stepped up on the top stair and stopped to look at her. She was serious.
“Woman, you are far from too heavy.”
She offered him a small smile. That little smile did something to him. It had his entire body humming.
“Which room?’
“Second door on the left.”
He made his way to her room and paused on the threshold.
Then, he looked at her again. She needed to know that once he had her, he was planning on keeping her.
He didn’t know why he felt this way, but she pulled at something in him.
Her sweet smiles, her odd phrasing, and her love of her bookstore, all of it made him want her more.
“This is it, Constance.”
She sighed. “The answer is still a hell, yes, but I want to warn you that I don’t have much experience.”
He’d already picked up on that. To reassure her, he leaned closer and brushed his mouth against hers.
He had meant it to give her sweet reassurance.
Instead, the kiss went from soft and sweet to scorching hot in a matter of seconds.
Marsh had never wanted another woman as much as he’d wanted her.
It flashed through his mind that he had been waiting for her his entire life.
Pushing that thought aside, Marsh broke off the kiss, leaving both breathing heavily. He hadn’t wanted to do it, but it was that or take her up against the wall. And while he wanted to do that at some point, the first time he wanted her in bed, beneath him, screaming his name.
Without another word, he stepped over the threshold.
Want filled every cell in his body, urging him to rush her to the bed, but he forced himself to take his time.
As he walked her to the massive bed, he settled her on the mattress.
He assumed her sister was staying with her, so he turned to shut the door, but the moment the thought appeared, the door slammed shut.
He blinked. It was almost as if he willed it to happen.
“Marsh?”
The worry in her voice had him turning to go to her. He couldn’t have Constance think that he was having second thoughts. Never that. Instead, he made his way to the bed. There was a small bedside lamp on, giving the room an intimate glow.
“Is there something wrong?”
Her voice was husky, and she had risen to rest her weight on her elbows. A few of her tendrils had escaped from her chignon. That sexy red robe had split to give him a glimpse of her leg.
Marsh shuddered as he tried to clamp down on his need. His control was slipping away from him, and he didn’t know how to get it back—or if he even wanted to.
He stalked toward the bed. She had been like a magnet since the moment she appeared in town, drawing him in with her warmth and her smiles and that damned curvy body.
“Nothing’s wrong, baby.”
The endearment would be silly to say to any other woman, but for her, it was perfect.
“If you’re having second thoughts, I would understand.”
He frowned. “You would?”
“As I said, I’ve never had that much luck when it came to this,” she said, gesturing with her hand.
“You must have been surrounded by a bunch of idiots, then.”
She blinked at him. “What?’
“You were made for love, but I’m not complaining.”
“You’re not?” She shifted to sit up completely, causing the robe to split open revealing a little more skin. It was then that he noticed that she probably wasn’t wearing anything beneath the robe.
“Constance,” he said, his voice deepening over the syllables of her name. He didn’t know why he always relished saying her name, but he did.
“What?”
“Are you naked?”
She frowned. “No. I’m wearing a robe.”
He let out a groan that filled the space between them as he reached for her.
Marsh knew that if he did not touch her in the next few seconds, he would lose his damned mind.
Grabbing the tie, he pulled on it. The fabric parted, then slid off her body, revealing a treasure he knew he did not deserve. Her entire body was made for him.
Full tits with the prettiest pink nipples, a rounded stomach, and full hips. She looked like a pinup from the 1950s. His gaze traveled down her body to the trimmed triangle between her legs. He licked his lips.
“You are a goddess, Constance.”
Marsh barely recognized his own voice. It had deepened, turned hoarse, but he could barely think straight.
Instead, he pulled her to the edge of the bed so that her legs hung over the side.
He dropped to his knees. The scent of her arousal filled the air.
Musky woman, but there was a hint of something else…
something deeper that seemed to pull him towards her.
Bending closer, he kissed her inner thigh.
Just that light touch had her moaning. The sound of it ricocheted through his blood, causing his dick to twitch.
Fuck, he did not want to embarrass himself in front of her, but he knew he was close.
Still, he would not let that stop him from taking a taste.
He kissed his way up to her pussy. With one lick, he was lost. The taste of her juices danced over his taste buds.
Using his mouth, tongue, and fingers, he took her to the peak.
It didn’t take her long; soon she was screaming out his name as she molded her hands to his head and urged him to keep going.
Soon, he knew he would embarrass himself if he didn’t pull back. So, with one last lick, he pulled back then rose to his feet. Her hair fanned out like a curly halo against her sheets. Her half-lidded eyes studied him. Her entire body flushed.
Constance Merryweather was his other half.
It should shock him, but for some reason, the truth of his internal declaration settled within him, deep within his soul. It was as if it was the only truth in his life now.
His hands were shaking when he grabbed the bottom of his shirt and tugged it over his head.
He threw it behind him, not worrying about being neat.
His focus was on the woman watching him.
As her gaze traveled down his body, it was as if she were touching him.
Licks of heat followed the same path down, then back up to meet his eyes.
“Move on up on the bed, love. Because once I get these jeans off—”
Then it hit him. He didn’t bring protection.
“What?” she asked, her voice filled with anxiety.
“I don’t have a condom.”
Then, she smiled. He blinked against the brightness. The joy that spilled through him left him dizzy. He couldn’t figure it out, other than it was Constance. She made him feel this way.
“I’m on the pill and clean. I promise.”
“I just had a checkup. I promise…I’ve never gone bare before.”
She offered him another grin. “Me either.”
“Then get your cute ass up on that bed.”
She giggled and did as he ordered, throwing off her robe, before settling against the pillows. He could barely keep it together as he stripped out of the rest of his clothes.
He joined her on the bed and decided to kiss his way up her body. Marsh started on her stomach, licking and nipping at her succulent flesh on his way up her body. When he finally took her mouth in a hot, wet kiss that seared his senses.
He took his cock into his hands and centered it at her sweet pussy.
“Constance, look at me,” he ground out.
Her eyelids fluttered, then she opened them. Just like the first time he saw her, a burst of need filled his entire body. He needed her, now.
Marsh entered her with one fast, hard thrust. By the time he realized she had never done this before, it was too late. Her eyes widened at the intrusion.
“Constance.”
“Don’t stop now, Marsh,” she said, desire shimmering in her tone.
God help him, he couldn’t stop. Not now, not with her inner muscles clinging to his cock.
He started to move, first in measured thrusts, but soon, he was out of control.
Not since his teenage years had he raced to the end of lovemaking.
But this time, he needed this. Months of fantasies…
dreams. If he didn’t know better, he would think she bewitched him.
If she did, he didn’t give a fuck. What he wanted was to feel that her sweet pussy clamping down hard on him as he poured himself into her.
He rose to his knees, dragging her with him.
“I need you with me, love,” he said, as he continued plunging in and out of her.
She shook her head, but he didn’t think she knew what she was doing. Constance was so lost in the moment. He kept hold of her hips in one hand, as he slipped his finger over her clit, pinching it just enough to send her soaring into another release.
As he felt her muscles ripple over his shaft, he poured himself into her.
