Dwarven thieves ransack the diner while searching for an antique hunting horn Rylana recently found.

She had been looking forward to a moonlit walk and a kiss with Jildarin-grozanarav, her business partner, an award-winning dragon chef who has realized he has feelings for her.

The elven queen is gone and the troll-god curse is resolved, which should have made the evening simple.

Jildarin, however, has found a centuries-old book on courting a human woman and now wants her father's permission before they date.

Female dragons determined to mate with him have also returned, and they are threatening Rylana.

Between the horn, the protocol, and those dragons, the evening she pictured never quite begins.
