29. Vanessa #2

He grips my chin between his calloused fingers, not hard, but enough to show me he’s calling the shots. The scent of antiseptic on his hand, close to my nose, has my already boggled head feeling fuzzy.

Cupid tilts my face toward his, forcing me to concentrate on him, and I dare not challenge his authority. His dark eyes probe mine, demanding my attention without him saying a word. It’s almost like I’m seeing the man I’m falling for transform into the lethal outlaw I suspected he was all along.

As menacing as Cupid appears in this moment, covered in dried blood and holding me hostage against the wall, I’m not scared of him.

I should run for the hills, yet my legs remain anchored to the floor, not out of fright, but because, deep down in my marrow, I know this man will never hurt me.

He had plenty of opportunities and never took them.

Even now, caged between Cupid’s heaving chest at my front and the brick wall snagging at the clothes on my back, he isn’t hurting me.

Getting into my bubble?

Most definitely.

However, Cupid’s not harming me. He may be a murderous biker, but he’s my murderous biker. And part of me, a very dark and disturbed part I’m not sure I want to look at too closely, is delighted this man committed a felony for me.

Dare I say, I find Cupid more attractive knowing just how far he’d go to give me justice. The thought of this man doing the unthinkable in my honor has me growing wet between my thighs.

“The night I found you injured on the road, I captured one culprit before he could escape with his partners.”

My eyes widen. “You did?”

Cupid nods, his eyes never leaving mine as he searches for any sign I might freak out on him. But I’m far from panicking. I’m aroused.

Trying desperately not to show him how much his words are turning me on, I ask, “W—What did you do to him?”

“Questioned him about his intentions and where his partners in crime were hiding?”

Judging by the blood splatter on my biker, Cupid did a lot more than ask the creep questions.

“Did you…” I gulp, trying to control my racing heart from coming out of my throat, “…hurt him?”

Please say yes.

With not a flicker of hesitation or hitch in his voice, Cupid says, “Yes.”

I swear, my ovaries quiver.

“Is he dead?”

“Yes. And the others involved will meet him in hell soon enough.”

A wave of heat sweeps over me, making my insides clench hard. I bite off a whimper, but not fast enough before Cupid catches it.

His dark eyes flash for a moment before simmering into mesmerizing dark pools, ready to swallow me whole. Cupid leans in, his lips nearly brushing against mine. My lips itch to be claimed by his. I stretch out my neck toward him, wanting to close the distance, but I’m still out of reach.

A man—a fucking dangerous man—told me he hurt another man for harming me, that he killed him, and I’m more turned on than I’ve been in my entire life.

“Are you pleased, Butterfly?” Cupid asks, running his nose along mine and nearly making me combust on the spot. “Does my killing those who wronged you turn you on?”

My thighs rub together, desperate to relieve the growing ache in my clit. A primal urge is building within me, ready to ravage this man.

Cupid tracks the movement, his nostrils flaring as he inhales deeply. His eyes meet mine again in a smoldering gaze. The veins in his neck protrude, like he’s restraining himself from taking what he wants.

“Fuck me, it does. I can smell your arousal in the air between us. Your pussy is calling to me.”

“Cupid,” I plead in a needy voice, all shame and embarrassment gone.

“I knew you were the one the moment I saw you,” he coos, easing his knee between my legs. He slowly applies pressure to my throbbing clit.

What was supposed to offer me relief instead revs me up. Tendrils of pleasure pull at the nerve endings in my clit, driving me wild. My mouth falls open in a moan while I continue to hold eye contact.

“Everything about you, from your flirty wink to your reckless driving, told me you were my Psyche. Even the tattoo on your breast—my arrow piercing your heart—was confirmation you were meant for me.”

He applies more pressure between my legs, and I grind down on him, rotating my hips slowly, as much as I can in the restricted space.

“I don’t understand,” I admit, my voice breathy.

“In Roman mythology, Cupid’s lover was a beautiful mortal princess named Psyche. She tempted the god by simply existing, making him mad with love for her. His need to have her had him defying the other gods by aiding her in the Impossible Trials, helping her to become immortal and his wife.”

Cupid and Psyche. It’s fitting.

My greedy fingers push up his shirt, revealing the massive tattoo covering his expansive chest. “And Butterfly?”

“Psyche means butterfly. The goddess even had wings. Do you know what else means butterfly?”

“My, my, my—” Fucking hell, I’m close. Forming words is beyond me at the moment.

He nods with a smirk, pleased I’m finally catching on. “That’s right. Your name. Vanessa.”

Our names, our tattoos, the way we met, and his pursuit…all of it connects. Fate had us destined long before we saw each other.

“I’m. Your. Butterfly,” I say, panting against his lips as my fingers dig into the art over his heart.

“You’re damn right you are,” he says with a possessive growl, causing my pussy to pulse with want.

His body presses against mine, hot as a furnace. Between us, his cock hardens, tenting his jeans like it’s trying to break through the denim to get to me.

“I’ve had you inked on me and covering my home, waiting for you to take your rightful place with me,” Cupid says in a pained voice, rubbing his nose against mine.

To hell with following a nonexistent guideline of taking things slow. To hell with learning everything about this man prior to committing. And to hell with self-preservation when the man before me has shown beyond a doubt he will go to any length for me.

Being with Cupid is no longer insane when I’m far crazier.

Stalker.

Murderer.

Outlaw.

None of it matters when he’s all those things for me.

I’ve found my person, the one who sees all my flaws and ugliness and loves me for it.

I’m already his. It’s time to make him mine.
