32. Cupid

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO

CUPID

It’s pissing rain here in Loveland on a Friday night. It makes for sloppy work transferring the weapons. The upside is having fewer people on the streets who might witness the merchandise being moved. Most people will stay home or at least stay indoors, like in my restaurant and bar.

Rock’s men from the Durango chapter slowly pull into the back alley behind my property.

The truck looks like any other liquor distributor vehicle, although inside it carries enough arms and ammunition to support a small militia.

It’s one of our bigger hauls, making me curious about the young mafia don and the MC he’s in cahoots with.

The truck rolls past the bar, coming to a stop next door, where the warehouse is behind the bunkhouse.

A loud beeping sound blares through the noise of the downpour as the truck backs into the loading dock.

Drift and Ruger lead a small team of our men to unload the truck, moving quickly to haul the crates to a dry location inside the building and out of sight from outsiders.

I stand outside with the rain pouring down on me, observing the handoff go smoothly.

Oaks and Crypt flank me, their heads swiveling side to side to make sure no one is spying on us.

Further down the alley on both ends, my men keep watch on the street, ready to alert us if trouble is heading our way.

Crypt has stopped surveying the area, staring up at my buildings behind us. “Hey, Prez?”

“What is it?” I say, slightly annoyed to be bothered during the middle of run.

“Is Psyche cool with what we do?”

My brows pinch together. “What do you mean?”

“I mean, are you okay with her knowing club business?”

The hell kind of question is that?

“What do you think, Crypt?”

“I’m guessing no.”

No kidding. “Why are you asking?”

“Because she’s watching us from the kitchen window overlooking the alley.”

“Jesus Christ, Crypt,” Oaks says to our enforcer. “Why didn’t you lead with that info?”

He shrugs, unbothered by Oaks’ concern. “I was curious to know what Prez thought first.”

“My guy, with club matters, always alert someone if one of the ole ladies is up to something they shouldn’t be,” Oaks says, lecturing Crypt.

Shaking my head, I turn around to see what Crypt is talking about.

There in the kitchen window of my third-story apartment, Vanessa stands observing the operations on the ground level outside. She seems rather keen to learn what we’re up to, looking around the yard from side to side, taking in all the action.

When she spots me staring back at her from the asphalt alley, she quickly ducks out of view of the window, probably hoping I didn’t catch her in the act.

A smirk pulls at my lips. She’ll pay for being nosy.

My cock twitches excitedly in my jeans as I contemplate all the ways to make her atone for her disobedience.

The two of us have been fucking like rabbits since she accepted her fate with me, but there have been a few things I’ve been holding off on until her head has healed more.

Looks like tonight is the night I feed her my cock. Hope she’s ready for a mouthful.

“What should we do, Prez?” Crypt asks, calm as always.

“Nothing,” I answer, turning back around to watch the operation finish up.

“The rain is too heavy for her to make out anything with absolute certainty, and most of the merchandise is crated or bagged. All she sees is a truck delivering something, and we can easily say it was liquor or food for the bar.”

Besides, my Butterfly agreed to accept MC life and love me unconditionally. She’s not going anywhere.

For fuck’s sake, I murdered a man for Vanessa, and it put her into heat. It’s safe to say my little biker baddie won’t be snitching on me to anyone.

“You’re taking this awfully well,” Oaks says, shaking his head at me like I’ve lost my damn mind.

“She’s loyal to me and the club,” I inform him bluntly. “Psyche will never betray me, nor I her.”

“But you’re going to have fun punishing her for it, aren’t you?” Oaks elbows me, laughing as if he can read my mind.

My grin consumes my face. “Absolutely.”

The bang of the commercial truck’s roll-up door slamming shut alerts me we’re close to being done. The driver for the Durango chapter makes his way across the alley toward us.

“We’re wrapped up on our end,” he shouts over the rain, shaking my hand to finish the deal. “Rock said you’d reach out to the buyer?”

“Already handled,” I say. “Safe travels back to Durango.”

With business done for the night, I make my way inside the back of Whiskey Wheelers, taking the stairs two at a time as I climb them to my apartment. My dick is already raging hard for what’s about to go down.

Cookie pulls away from the wall where he’s stationed outside my home once he sees me coming upstairs.

Though I trust Vanessa not to take off on me, I still insist on having one of my men watching over her when I’m away, keeping guard of my most valuable possession locked away inside.

A biker’s life is freeing, but not without danger, and I will do what I must to keep Vanessa safe.

The prospect greets me with a nod before averting his eyes to the wall, smirking. Cookie must have seen the monster outline in my damp pants, pressing against the denim like it’s trying to break loose and storm the village.

“You’re off duty the rest of the night,” I inform him, unbothered that he’s well aware of what’s about to go down in my apartment. “Tell the rest of the crew not to disturb me unless absolutely necessary.”

“Sure thing, Cupid.” Cookie moves past me down the stairs before adding, “Have fun.”

“Oh, I plan on it.”

Cookie bursts into laughter, his chuckles fading the further he treads downstairs.

I pause for a breath at the landing to the apartment, a puddle of water collecting at my feet from my rain-drenched clothes, ready to lay another claim on my beautiful Butterfly.

I’ll probably look absolutely terrifying to Vanessa coming into the apartment after catching her spying on me with wet clothes and hair plastered to my body, a massive erection in my jeans, and a wicked grin splitting my face in half.

Opening the door, I hear scurrying deep inside the apartment, like a mouse escaping detection.

Oh, how I love playing cat and mouse.

My footfalls are deliberately heavy and slow as I move down the hall towards the living area. Her anxiety will increase with each of my steps echoing off the walls, drawing closer to her. Her fear will make chasing her all the more fun.

When I enter the living room, Vanessa stands on the other side of the main room, looking at me like a deer in headlights.

Her class notes and textbooks are open and scattered about the coffee table, her studying abandoned.

Yet, she’s fiddling with the cap on her pen in her hands, showing her nerves.

Dressed only in one of my older, faded white t-shirts, I can see her nipples poking out through the thin cotton fabric. She’s a goddamn dream—soon to be a wet dream—standing there all big eyes and flushed skin.

My eyes trail up her exposed, trim legs, and I’m praying she’s commando underneath. Easy access to her most intimate parts is what I live for since she’s come into my life.

“You’ve been bad, Butterfly,” I say, letting the words hang between us.

She swallows loudly. “I—I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

I step further into the room toward her, and she steps back, keeping as much distance between us as she can.

“You’re cute when you lie,” I say, teasing her with my words. “We both know you were spying on me and what the club was doing outside when I left you to handle club business.”

“Please. I was not spying,” Vanessa says defensively, crossing her arms and putting on her tough-girl act she uses when she feels overwhelmed by me.

“I went into the kitchen to get a glass of water. The rain hitting the window caught my attention. If you saw me looking out the window, it’s because I was watching the rain coming down. ”

She’s lying. I have already scanned the contents of the table and know what’s missing.

My head cocks at her curiously. “Where’s the water?”

She frowns. “Huh?”

“The glass of water you went into the kitchen to get before checking on the weather?”

Vanessa freezes, realizing she’s caught. I swear I can hear her heart hammering in her chest from where I stand, a good ten feet away.

My lips curl upwards in the corner of my mouth. “Two lies in one night. Whatever will I do to punish you?”

As if she can sense danger, Vanessa dashes towards the dining room.

I’m hot on her heels, my body thrumming with adrenaline.

She runs around the other side of the dining table, probably thinking the furniture will keep her safe.

I skid to a halt on the other side of the table, enjoying the sparks of excitement I see dancing in her pretty hazel eyes.

A dark chuckle bubbles from my chest at her sad attempt at avoidance. I could toss the table to get to her quicker, but where’s the fun in that? I like to hunt, and my prey is worth pursuing.

“Only guilty brats run. Don’t worry. I’ll catch you soon enough.”

Across the table, I attempt to psych her out by diving to one side and then the other. She squeaks, terrified as she dodges me. When I reach across the table, nearly nabbing her by the front of the t-shirt, she jumps out of my reach, screeching like a fox and sprinting into the kitchen.

Round and round I chase her around the kitchen island.

The way her face lights up in the brightest smile makes my heart skip, knowing I’m the reason for her happiness.

She giggles, watching me over her shoulder as I pursue her.

The sound of her delightful laughter goes straight to my aching balls, desperate to unload all over her.

“You’re slowing down, ole man,” she taunts, her laugh all breathy from our little game of chase.
