7. Chapter 7
Hannah
Gavin carries me to the bed and lowers me onto the mattress. Instead of following me down, he straightens and hooks his thumbs into the waistband of his sweatpants.
My pulse immediately starts climbing again.
He pushes them down.
The briefs underneath do absolutely nothing to improve my ability to form coherent thoughts.
I stare.
There is no dignified alternative available to me.
Gavin steps out of the sweats.
“You all right?”
“Yes.”
Far too quick.
His mouth curves.
“You sure?”
“I’m trying very hard to maintain some dignity.”
“You lost that on the island.”
I gasp. “You are horrible.”
“Still want me?”
The teasing disappears from his voice.
I look at him.
At the scars cutting across his body and the hard muscle beneath them. At the hunger in his eyes. At the man who remembered how I take my coffee after two years and just told me I belong to him before giving himself to me in the same breath.
“Yes.”
Something in his face shifts.
His hand catches the waistband of his briefs and pushes them down.
My breath catches.
Oh.
There are moments in life when language simply fails.
This is one of them.
Gavin steps free of the briefs and looks at me without an ounce of self-consciousness while my brain attempts to process exactly what I have agreed to.
He is big.
Because naturally the rest of him was not enough of a warning.
Then he comes down over me.
His mouth finds mine, and the nerves gathering in my stomach vanish beneath the heat of the kiss.
His body settles between my thighs, and this time there is nothing between us.
Every inch of him is hot against me.
My hands move over his shoulders while his mouth works against mine, and the hard length of him presses against my thigh.
Curiosity wins.
I reach between us.
The first touch makes Gavin suck in a sharp breath.
His entire body tightens.
Interesting.
I wrap my fingers around his cock.
“Hannah.”
My name sounds like a warning.
I look up innocently.
“What?”
His eyes narrow.
“You know what.”
I stroke him again.
His jaw locks.
A thrill runs through me.
This might be the first time all morning I have possessed any power whatsoever, and I enjoy it tremendously.
Then Gavin catches my wrist.
So much for that.
He brings my hand to his mouth, kisses my palm once, then pins it beside my head.
“My turn.”
“You have been having your turn for quite a while.”
“Not finished.”
My pulse jumps.
His hand slides down my thigh and grips behind my knee, opening me farther beneath him.
Then his fingers find me again.
I gasp.
“You’re still wet.”
My face burns. “You seem pleased with yourself.”
“I am.”
His fingers move over my clit in firm circles, sending fresh sparks through nerves that have barely recovered from the island.
“Gavin.”
“I want you ready for me.”
The roughness in his voice kills my next joke.
His fingers keep moving until my hips start following the rhythm without permission.
He watches.
That might be the hottest part.
Gavin watches every reaction as though he intends to memorize them.
His cock presses against my thigh, thick and hot, and I reach for him again.
This time he lets me.
My fingers close around him.
A guttural sound catches in his throat.
Oh, I like that.
I stroke him again.
His head drops briefly.
“Fuck.”
Pride blooms through me.
Possibly the least appropriate pride I have ever experienced.
“You like that.”
His eyes lift to mine.
“Careful.”
“I’m beginning to think that word means something different when you say it.”
“It means you’re testing how much control I have left.”
My mouth goes dry.
“How much?”
“Not enough.”
Then he kisses me.
Hard.
His hand leaves my clit and closes around my hip. He shifts between my thighs, and I feel the broad head of his cock move through my wetness.
My heart pounds harder.
This is it.
Gavin lifts his head.
His eyes hold mine.
“If anything hurts more than you want it to, you tell me.”
“I will.”
He searches my face for another second.
Then he guides himself to my entrance.
The first pressure makes me tense.
Gavin stops.
“Breathe.”
“I am breathing.”
“Barely.”
I glare at him.
His mouth brushes mine.
“There she is.”
My lips twitch.
Then he pushes forward again.
This time I make myself relax.
He enters me a little at a time, and the stretch is more intense than his fingers were. Pressure builds until my hands clamp around his shoulders.
Gavin freezes.
“Too much?”
“No.”
His jaw is tight enough that the word seems to cost him something.
“Tell me.”
“I’m okay. Just give me a second.”
He does.
He stays completely still, buried only partway inside me while his forehead rests against mine and every muscle in his body trembles with restraint.
The sight of Gavin Mercer fighting himself because of me does something strange and hot to my insides.
I shift experimentally.
His eyes close.
“Fuck.”
“You keep saying that.”
“You keep giving me reasons.”
The ache has already started easing.
I lift my hips again.
Gavin’s hand clamps around my thigh.
“Hannah.”
“I’m okay.”
His eyes open.
I hold his gaze.
“I want you.”
That does it.
He kisses me as he pushes deeper, taking more of me until the stretch turns sharp again and I gasp into his mouth.
He stops.
Waits.
Then moves when I pull him closer.
By the time his hips finally meet mine, I am breathing hard against his shoulder.
Gavin is completely still.
Inside me.
All of him.
The thought alone nearly makes my brain short-circuit.
“Jesus,” I whisper.
His mouth presses against my temple.
“You good?”
I test the feeling by moving my hips.
Gavin’s entire body locks.
That answers several questions.
“Yes.”
His hand tightens on my thigh.
“Better than good?”
I look at him.
“Are you fishing for compliments right now?”
His hips pull back.
Then drive forward again.
My mouth falls open.
“Oh.”
His expression changes.
“That’s what I thought.”
“You are intolerable.”
He does it again.
I forget why I was annoyed.
The first few movements are measured, giving my body time to adjust to the fullness of him. The remaining ache dissolves beneath something hotter as each stroke drags over nerves I did not know existed.
My legs wrap around his waist.
Gavin groans.
I pull him closer.
His restraint finally starts to crack.
The next thrust is harder.
I gasp.
Another follows, deeper this time, and the bed shifts beneath us.
Yes.
This.
I grip his shoulders.
“More.”
His eyes snap to mine.
“Say that again.”
“More.”
A growl tears out of him.
The careful rhythm disappears.
Gavin grips my hip and drives into me harder, each thrust pushing me deeper into the mattress while his chest rubs against mine.
It should be overwhelming.
Instead, I want more of him everywhere.
I tighten my legs around his waist.
His mouth crashes onto mine.
The room fills with the sound of our breathing, the bed moving beneath us, skin meeting skin as his control finally gives way.
I love it.
I love knowing I did this to him.
That Gavin, who seems capable of controlling absolutely everything, is losing that control inside me.
His hand slides between our bodies.
The first touch against my clit makes me jerk.
“Gavin.”
“I know.”
His fingers circle firmly while he keeps moving inside me, and the pleasure climbs so quickly my breath catches.
I bury my fingers in his hair.
“Right there.”
His forehead drops against mine.
“Here?”
He changes the pressure.
My entire body shudders.
“Yes.”
His mouth curves.
“Good.”
The rhythm of his hips turns harder, more demanding, while his fingers keep working the spot that is already threatening to undo me.
I cannot decide where to focus, on the fullness of him, the friction, his hand between us, or the rough sounds he makes against my neck every time my body tightens around him.
It is too much in the best possible way.
“Look at me.”
I force my eyes open.
Gavin is already watching me.
His face is tight with control, silver-gray eyes dark enough that they barely look silver anymore.
“You’re mine,” he says.
The words hit me almost as hard as his body does.
My breath catches.
His fingers keep moving.
“Tell me.”
I clutch him tighter.
“I’m yours.”
His jaw clenches.
“Again.”
“I’m yours, Gavin.”
Something feral flashes across his face.
“And I’m yours.”
Then his hips drive forward and his fingers find exactly the right place at exactly the right moment.
Pleasure tears through me.
My back arches beneath him as the orgasm hits, harder and deeper than the one on the island. I cling to Gavin while my body clenches around him in wave after wave, his name breaking from me because it is the only word left in my head.
Gavin swears against my throat.
His rhythm breaks.
He grips me tighter, thrusting through the last of my orgasm until his whole body goes rigid above me.
Then my name leaves him in a rough, wrecked sound.
He buries his face against my neck and holds me so tightly I can feel every hard breath dragging through his chest.
For a long moment, neither of us moves.
My heartbeat seems to have relocated to every part of my body.
Eventually Gavin lifts his head.
His eyes search my face.
“You okay?”
I consider the question with the seriousness it deserves.
“I’m going to need a minute to remember my own name.”
His mouth moves.
“That’s a yes?”
“Yes.”
He kisses my forehead and then my mouth, the second kiss softer than anything he has done since putting me on the island.
Something warm twists beneath my ribs.
Gavin shifts carefully and pulls me against him, one arm wrapping around my back until I am tucked into his side.
I rest my cheek on his chest.
His heartbeat is still racing beneath my ear.
Good.
At least I am not the only one whose body has forgotten how to behave.
His hand moves over my back, warm and heavy, and the exhaustion I somehow avoided until now arrives all at once.
My eyelids drift closed.
“Hannah.”
“Mmm?”
“You need anything?”
I think about it.
My limbs feel pleasantly useless. Gavin is warm beneath me. His arm is locked around my waist as if there is nowhere else he intends to let me go.
“No.”
His mouth brushes the top of my head.
“Sleep.”
I make a vague sound that might have been an objection if I had enough energy to assemble one.
His chest shifts beneath my cheek.
I think he laughs.
I should probably tell him that being ordered to sleep is irritating.
I should also probably remind him that technically this is still his fault, considering I came here looking for an empty cabin and ended up naked in his bed.
Both thoughts require effort.
I decide against it.
The last thing I register is Gavin’s hand spread across my back and his heartbeat steady beneath my ear.
Then I fall asleep.
