Emotions

Morgan

I was sixteen weeks pregnant and thank God Josh didn’t know a damn thing about women. I asked that nobody told him just yet. He was already driving me insane by constantly watching over me, and I knew once he learned I was pregnant it would get worse. Hell, even Addie knew and dreaded Josh finding out. The fact that she could keep a secret so well didn’t sit well with me, to be honest. Even my family knew, but Josh was kind of an idiot when it came to women’s bodies.

We had a lot of things going on. School started a few weeks ago and I was putting the finishing touches on Addie’s birthday cake. Josh and I were planning her birthday party at the beach since we were experiencing a hotter than normal September. We invited my family and all of her friends and their parents. Addie had a meltdown when I refused to allow her to have a birthday party that was girls only.

Oh, then there’s the theme Addie requested. It wasn’t princess or even something cute and delicate like most girls wanted. No, it was an evil queen themed party. Her cake was of Maleficent, and I had to have all the décor specially made. It freaked me out until Bolton explained that little girls that didn’t like little princesses tended to be independent rule breakers that do not conform to the standards put on little girls at young ages to be gentle, compliant, and sweet. Addie simply related better to the evil queens because she wasn’t going to be societies little doormat. She would make her own rules and be the queen of her own life. She promised Addie wasn’t on the fast track to becoming a female serial killer.

A few weeks ago, Josh exposed her to GI Jane and that really took hold. I hoped at least one of my babies was a girl. Yep, it was twins, and I was obviously pregnant to anyone with a half a brain. Josh still didn’t have a clue. Either that or he was in denial. The other day I cried when I couldn’t wear my favorite Dolce and Gabbana blouse to meet Addie’s teacher because my boobs were too big. His answer was to cut the sweets out of my diet and stop eating all his cookies that I made. He then recommended a diet because I was really gaining it in the waist. I was four months pregnant with twins and he still hadn't figured it out.

I was doing okay. Creed was still dark, and it had been well over two months. I knew there would be times of going dark, but I never dreamed it would be well over two months. I wrote to him that I was pregnant but every letter I wrote came back to me.

The prospects had everything ready for the cookout at the beach. I had the cake and Felicity was bringing the ice cream. Steph was bringing the fruit punch, and I had everything packed. That included sunscreen and everything we needed for the beach. Addie was in her swimsuit with a cover, and I was in mine. As soon as Josh walked in, Addie was running after Nikko.

Josh paused and looked at me in my sheer bathing suit cover. He ran his hand down his face as he looked at me then pointed at my stomach. “I can see through your shirt.”

I nodded real big. “It’s a swim suit cover.”

He sighed. “I think we need to have a little talk about your health. When was the last time you took a shit? Because that does not look like fat.”

I laughed so hard I almost hit the floor.

“You don’t have to be embarrassed. I have sisters and I know ya’ll shit. This is getting out of control. Its time you stop trying to gain weight and…” He paused. “I’m serious, Morgan. This can’t be healthy and it’s probably all that cheese you eat that’s making your shit rock hard. Damn, it looks painful. Why the fuck are you laughing? This is serious. I’ve heard of people who binge eat, but they usually puke afterward. If you’ve got an eating disorder you’re doing it all wrong. Don’t get me wrong, you’re gorgeous, but the bloat is a bit off putting. What if Creed comes home tomorrow and you’re too full of shit for him to…you know…do that thing we don’t talk about when kids are around?”

I was laughing so hard I hoped I’d not go into labor.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” He asked.

“You’re so stupid.” I tried to talk as I laughed so hard it hurt.

“I’m stupid? You need a laxative or something.” He grabbed the bags I had packed. “Its going to be embarrassing when people see how constipated you are today.” He walked out of the room, and I heard a little giggle. I turned to see Addie laughing. Even she understood how stupid Josh was being.

All the sudden I heard something drop then shoes quickly coming back toward me. Josh stood there with huge eyes and his hand was over his mouth as he pointed at me. Finally, he caught on.

I nodded my head. “Yep.”

He shook his head as he backed away from me like I had some sort of disease. He was still pointing at my stomach and when he removed his hand he managed to make me burst out laughing.

“I did not do that! That’s Creed’s doing! Oh shit, tell them it’s not mine. I haven’t touched you! They’re all going to think it was me!” He tripped over his own foot and fell on his ass. As I tried to approach he crawled backward and kept pointing at me. “Please tell me that’s just one massive poop.” He begged.

At that point Addie was on the floor laughing and I was just trying to hold myself up.

“That’s the babies!” Addie yelled out in the funniest laugh I ever heard.

Josh’s eyes looked panicked when they met mine. “Babies? What the f…. Jesus Christ tell me what’s going on?” He fell back and shut his eyes. “Creed is going to kill me. What have you done, Morgan? Who is the fucker?”

“Watch your mouth, Josh!”

He looked at Addie then to me. “Please tell me it’s Creed’s. Please, for the love of God.”

It was time for my best acting skills. I lost my laugh and tried to look hurt. “You don’t remember that one night? You walked in my room, and it was magic.”

He shook his head. “Don’t mess with me, Morgan. Tell me the truth.”

I sighed. “The next day you acted like it was just a dream or something. You really don’t remember?”

“Cut that shit out, Morgan. Who did that to you?” He pointed at my stomach again.

I laughed. “Creed, you idiot.”

“I am so confused right now. You said all that girly stuff kept happening.” He was still pointing at my stomach.

“Oh that, yeah that’s implantation and it happens with multiples.” I acted calm and cool.

“Multiples?” His voice screeched.

“Yeah, Addie just told you babies, not baby. Everyone but you knows, even the prospects.” I laughed. “Even my great grandpa and he has dementia. Think about that, even a man with dementia figured it out before you.” I laughed at him.

Addie and I went on and loaded the truck while Josh sat on the floor wondering how all that happened, and he didn’t figure it out. I bet he felt stupid.

Josh was the target of all jokes at the beach. There was even some bets paid up. Josh had no idea he was the current joke of Creed’s Lake. Not even Bolton tried to explain how he was so dumb. Josh was called a stupid idiot by a psychologist.

The party went great until Axton and Drakos returned from running errands. I thought it was strange they left, but then figured out it was for a gift. They handed Addie a little box with a bow on it. Creed had even arranged his gift for her birthday before he left. I cried as Addie looked at a set a keys like she didn't understand. They told her she would figure it out when we got home. Thankfully that was at the end of the afternoon because she couldn’t wait to get home. I didn’t even know about it and when I saw what it was I cried. It was a whole damn house in our backyard. Well, it was a playhouse, but it was much larger than she ever needed. Creed was creating a monster, even from thousands of miles away.
