Chapter 5 #2

“Why?” she murmured, her voice sounding drunk even though he knew she wasn’t.

“Or this won’t last much longer.”

She smiled at him and forced his hips to take her harder. “You don’t wanna come?”

“Fuck!” he cursed.

He knew what she was doing, trying to make him lose control. Just like she’d tried to do when she’d sucked him with such passion and skill.

“Fine!” he conceded. “But if you think we’re doing this only once, you’re wrong.”

Because once wasn’t nearly enough.

A sinful smile spread on her lips. “If that’s what the big bad wolf wants…”

That did him in. The wolf inside him rejoiced, and with it, the man lost all control.

Suddenly, he plunged his cock harder and faster into her, not giving her an opportunity to stop him or slow him down.

Knowing he had only seconds left, he shifted his weight and brought one hand between their bodies, finding her clit and rubbing his finger over it, while he continued thrusting into her.

Charlie gasped, and her eyes widened, the yellow shimmer in her irises intensifying, when he felt her interior muscles spasm around him.

His cock jerked inside her, and he felt semen shoot through his shaft as he climaxed.

His entire body felt like it was on fire, not the kind that destroyed but the kind that protected.

He slowed his thrusts, moving gently inside her now, enjoying the aftermath of her orgasm as the waves ebbed slowly.

When their bodies stilled, he rolled off her.

Had he not been wearing a condom, he would have stayed inside her, but he couldn’t be that irresponsible.

To prevent conception, he disposed of the condom and wiped his still-hard cock clean before he pulled Charlie back into his arms.

“Wow,” she murmured.

“Ditto.”

In fact, it was a surprise that he could utter even a single word, because he was speechless.

He’d never felt so truly satisfied as with Charlie in his arms. Damn, she was the kind of woman with whom he could do this over and over again without getting bored.

That revelation stunned him. After all, he liked variety when it came to women, and he wasn’t looking for something serious or long-term.

Tonight had been meant purely for distraction.

As silence spread between them, he wondered why she wasn’t speaking.

Had she maybe not enjoyed this as much as he thought she had?

Had he not performed well after all? Was she used to something better?

Fuck! He’d never in his life asked himself these questions, so why did they fill his mind when he would never see her again after tonight? He stroked his hand over her hip, caressing her softly, but his mind drifted back to his doubts. He couldn’t help himself; he had to ask her.

“You’d tell me if you didn’t enjoy this, wouldn’t you?”

Did he sound like a loser right now? Fuck! What was wrong with him?

Her warm breath ghosted over his chest.

“Looking for compliments?”

“No, no, of course not,” he said hastily. “I mean—”

She lifted her head and put her finger over his mouth to stop him from saying something even more idiotic. Their eyes met.

“Byron…” She hummed softly. “You’re not just a poet by name but also when it comes to making love. You were even better than I imagined.”

Relief flooded him, and he pressed a soft kiss on her lips.

“I hope you’re not disappointed in me,” Charlie added.

He shook his head. “You’re the most sensual woman I’ve ever met. I know you said you wanted no strings attached, but I hope that doesn’t mean that you can’t stay the night. I mean… it can still be casual even if we spend the night together, can’t it?”

His last words were more meant for himself than for Charlie. Surely, he could keep this thing between them casual, even if they spent more time together. They were adults, and there didn’t have to be anything between them other than good sex.

She didn’t respond immediately, her forehead furrowing.

“I mean, you did say I could buy you a coffee in the morning,” he remembered suddenly.

“I did, didn’t I?” she said after a long moment.

Why did she have to think about this for longer than a second? It brought up another question.

“Charlie, is there somebody in your life? I mean, are you with somebody? Is that why you hesitated? If you’ve changed your mind, I’d understand…” Though he would be disappointed.

“I haven’t changed my mind. I want to stay the night,” she said, far too quickly. “It’s just that my parents arranged a match for me.”

He knew that arranged matings were still a thing in the werewolf society. “Oh. You feel guilty about sleeping with me?”

“No, not for a second.”

Why that response pleased him to no end, he didn’t want to examine.

“Wanna talk about it, stranger to stranger?”

She nodded slowly.

“Have you met him yet?”

“Yes, yesterday. His handshake alone gave me the creeps. I can’t imagine letting him touch me.”

He noticed the tiny hairs on her arm standing up and gently caressed her.

“I’m sorry. Have you told your parents that you don’t want to mate with him?”

“Yep. But they wouldn’t hear of it.”

“Stubborn, huh?”

“You have no idea. That’s why I just left without a word and came to San Francisco.”

“Do they know you’re here?”

“No, I haven’t used my credit card, so I’ll be okay for a few days.”

“So they can’t track you. Good idea. What’s your plan going forward?”

She gave a one-shouldered shrug, her hand tracing his chest muscles.

“Let’s not talk about that now. It just makes me angry.”

He pressed a kiss to her forehead, feeling oddly protective of her.

“Did you just move into this apartment?” she asked, lifting her hand. “I mean, it looks a little bare. Uhm, unless that’s your style: minimalistic.”

“Nice save!” he said with a chuckle and a quick, but gentle, slap on her ass. “It’s not really my flat. My brother owned it. But he died.”

Murdered. But that wasn’t something he wanted to burden Charlie with.

“I’m sorry.”

“Thanks. I use it as a pied-à-terre to get away from my family when they get too overbearing. I normally live out in the country. I could never live in the city for good.”

“Too much concrete. Too many walls, right?”

“Exactly. Though there are parks in the city, there are too many people. I can’t really run anywhere here without being seen.”

“I get it. The wolf in us needs space to run freely.”

He dipped his head to hers. “I wish I could run with you. I’m sure it would be fun.”

“Since that’s not in the cards tonight, how about more sex?”

Pleased with her response, Byron pulled her on top of him.

“You’re speaking my language.”

She sat up, straddling him, and looked at his cock, which was currently in its relaxed state.

“Don’t worry about that, babe. Let me suck your gorgeous tits, and I’ll be hard in no time.”

Already now, just thinking about burying his face in her bosom, he could sense blood shoot into his shaft. When she leaned over him, dangling her breasts over his face, he took them into his hands. He loved their weight as they overflowed his palms.

“Damn, babe, with a body like yours, I’m surprised you’re not spending all day and night in bed fucking.”

“Who says I’m not?” she teased.

A growl worked itself up from his chest, his wolf unhappy about the comment that seemed to suggest that she had sex with countless men.

“Well, look at that,” she said coquettishly and directed her gaze down to his cock. “That got you hard really fast. Don’t like competition, do you?”

Another growl, and he squeezed her breasts harder, then licked over her nipples, before burying his head in her cleavage, allowing the ample flesh to caress his face. He inhaled her scent before lifting his head.

“If I didn’t have to put on a condom, I would already be inside you, you little cock-tease. And then you wouldn’t think of talking about other men.”

“And what would you do if I still talked about other men?”

“This.”

He allowed his eyes to change to those of his wolf, and his sharp canines to descend, while the rest of his body remained that of a man.

“Then I guess I’ll have to surrender.”

“Good choice,” he murmured and licked her breasts.

Tonight, they wouldn’t get much sleep, but then, who needed sleep when they could give each other pleasure?
