We had a team dinner tonight as a last hurrah kind of thing, and Emmy told us that she and Maverick are DATING!!!!!!

Now that I know about it, it’s so obvious Maverick is obsessed with her. He can’t look at her without smiling.
I haven’t been sworn to secrecy, by the way. They’re announcing it to the world tomorrow!
It sucks that the team is breaking up, but it’s nice that Emmy will still be around.

He’s staying put. One of our rookies who has been on the IR this season is headed to Toronto too. I guess Justin Harper, the guy we’re supposed to get, is going to ask the Stars to buy out his contract so he can land where he wants in free agency.
Must be cool to have that kind of power!

My off the record answer to your question about being both happy for someone while also feeling sad, is yes. I’ve been there. It’s hard to balance all the emotions. My advice is to give yourself grace while you sort through all your feelings.
Emmy is more than a teammate. She’s a friend, and you can grieve her departure while also celebrating the good times you had together.
And you’ll still get to see her if she’s dating Maverick! I imagine she’ll be around a lot.
