Chapter 6

Chapter Six

Wren

I’m warm.

That’s the first thing I notice, before I even open my eyes. And it isn’t the fire, because the fire’s out. The room is gray with snow-light from the one small window. Wind whistles outside.

The bed is warm because Krovenian skin runs hot. I learned that in the SUV when Maxim held my hand, and I’m learning it again now, all the way down my back.

Last night comes back in pieces. Lightning in a blizzard, which should not be a thing. The shriek I let out when the room went dark. Maxim rushing down the hall. And me, standing in Sebastian’s doorway with the guest room blanket around my shoulders, shaking, asking if I could be in the middle.

I’d found a T-shirt in the dresser in the guest room and put it on without asking whose it was.

It hangs to my thighs and smells like one of them.

I haven’t decided which. They were both in pajama pants and nothing else, and I lay down between two muscular, bare-chested Krovenians in a bed the size of a small country, and I was asleep in about four minutes.

I take inventory of my situation now, carefully, without moving.

There’s a chest against my back and an arm slung heavy over my waist. It’s Sebastian behind me with his breath is in my hair.

And in front of me—nothing. Cold sheet.

Maxim’s side of the bed is empty.

Last night, in the dark, after the thunder finally rolled off down the valley, Maxim said he’d go fix the generator at first light. He got up without waking me, which I would not have thought possible for anyone that size.

So it’s just me and Sebastian in this over-sized bed.

And there is an enormous erection pressed against my lower back. Heat floods the space between my thighs. My nipples tighten against a shirt that isn’t mine.

Holy crap.

Act normal. Act normal.

My mind is filled with the events of the last two days and how much things have changed.

Back when these two were my regulars I always wanted the ability to go out with the both of them, and here it is, happening.

In fact it’s gone beyond this, I’m now in their house and in fact, in their bed.

And it turns out I like them even more now that I’m alone with them, in their house.

I used to think they’d get angry at me, or at each other, if they ever learned the terrible truth, that I was attracted to both of them, equally. And yet now they’ve let me know I don’t ever have to choose. They both want me.

I wiggle my ass closer to that luscious erection.

I mean, who am I kidding? I’m totally falling in love with these two.

I bite at my lip. I want this to work out between the three of us.

I want to be able to move in with these two and live here with them.

But really, how would this work? How does a person go about having two husbands at the same time?

It would be hard enough navigating one husband who’s a vampire, let alone two.

My mind flashes to two sets of fangs in my neck at once.

Strangely, it’s not as frightening as it should sound.

I guess I’m learning to trust them? If they think it will work, I suppose it will work.

But…

The arm over my waist tightens.

A nose pushes into my hair, and I feel him take a long, slow breath in.

He’s scenting me. I know now exactly what that means.

God, I love the feel of that cock against my ass.

I’m dreaming of moving my legs and letting that thickness slide deep inside of me.

My clit is already throbbing, begging for attention.

Jeez, all we’re doing is sleeping next to each other and I’m primed and ready.

“My female,” he says, rough with sleep. Then, more awake and speaks into the back of my neck. “Good morning.”

“Good morning.”

“Maxim’s gone for the generator.”

“I noticed.”

“He’ll be gone for at least an hour,” he informs me. “Whose shirt is that?”

“I don’t know. It was in a drawer in the other room.”

“It’s mine.” I feel him smile against my neck. “Keep it.”

I turn over.

It takes some doing because I’m under that massive arm and the blanket is wrapped around my legs.

But then I kick free and I’m facing him, and he isn’t grinning.

He’s sleep-creased, his hair is everywhere and his chest is bare.

Those fangs are already a little bit down.

He’s the sexiest man I’ve ever witnessed.

“I’ve never kissed before,” he admits.

I take his face in both my hands and give him my best kiss, because I want his first to be epic.

This is the kiss I’ve been wanting to give him since we first met.

He goes completely still under my mouth, and then he learns fast. His hand slides into my hair, the other spreads across my back under the shirt, and his fangs come all the way down. I can feel them against my lip.

I don’t care.

When we come up for air, his eyes are nearly black.

“Okay?” I whisper.

“Okay.” His voice is wrecked. “Let’s do that again.”

The second kiss is not soft.

He rolls me under, careful with his weight, and kisses me like he’s been waiting three weeks for it, because he has. His whole body is hot and his hand is on my jaw, tilting me where he wants me.

I break free for a breath. “You’re good at this.”

He grins. “So are you.”

Then he rolls onto his back and takes me with him, so I’m sprawled across his chest with the shirt rucked up around my ribs and his hands spread on my bare back, going no lower. That erection that tents his pajama pants is pressed against my legs.

I have never been this warm and turned on in my life.

His hands move on my back in slow, wide passes, from my shoulder blades to the dip above my waist and back up, like he’s memorizing me. “You’re so beautiful,” he says quietly.

“Thank you. I happen to think you’re pretty darn handsome too.”

I laugh into his chest, and his chest moves under me when he laughs back, and I close my eyes and just allow myself to love this moment. The absolute stillness of the house around us, the snow shutting the whole world out.

And I can feel that erection again, through the thin cotton of his pajama pants, hard against my thigh. I slide my hand down between us and find that addictive cock through the fabric.

A low growl of pleasure rumbles in his chest.

“Sebastian.”

“Mm.”

I swallow. “Is that going to fit?”

He laughs, breathless, into my hair. “I will be ready to pleasure you, Wren It will fit. And you will not be hurt. I would not touch you if I thought otherwise.”

I’m so turned on I can’t see straight.

His hand slides down to my hip and stops there, warm and heavy. “I can take care of your needs right now. We don’t have to do anything else besides me touching you and bringing you to orgasm.”

I would love that.

I want it so much my thighs are shaking against his. My whole body is one long yes. But I manage to hold back. “I’m not ready, Sebastian. You know I want to fuck you right now, but I feel that I still need to wait. I can’t explain why, but it just feels too soon.”

“I understand. There is no rush. I’ll be ready when you’re ready.”

“Thank you.”

His arms go around me.

“Tell me about Maxim,” I say, muffled, against his throat.

“What about him?”

“Anything. I want to know everything about him.”

Sebastian thinks about it. “We’ve been friends our whole lives but got to know each other better when we both entered the military and were often stationed together.

And now, we’re best friends. He’s considered quiet and I’m the one who talks more, in fact I often speak for the both of us, especially with our business.

But Maxim is a full partner. He reads. He runs the numbers for the firm three times because twice isn’t enough.

He fixes things that aren’t broken yet.” A pause.

“And for three weeks he’s been walking around this house like a male who’s been shot and hasn’t noticed. ”

“Because of me?”

“Yes, he wants you as much as I do. He’s equally devoted to you.”

I press my mouth to his collarbone. I don’t mean to. It just happens.

“He kissed your shoulder,” Sebastian says.

I go hot all over. “What?”

“Last night. Before he got up. You were asleep.” I can hear the grin now. “He thought I was too.”

“You were you awake for that?”

“Wren. I’ve been awake since the thunder stopped.”

We lie there, and it’s the best I have ever felt in a bed in my life, and nobody’s naked and nothing has happened except a kiss.

But I’m in love with him.

In fact, I’m in love with both of them.

Oh my gosh. I have to get up, or I’m going to change my mind. “Bathroom,” I announce, and roll off him. “I’m going to go get ready too. I’ll be back.”

“Meet me downstairs,” he says. “I’m going to make us breakfast.”

I nod and then exit through the connecting door.

I pull take my bag with me into the bathroom.

I’d preplanned, thinking there might be the smallest possibility I’d end up staying the night with them, so I stuffed my make up bag in here as well as some new underwear and a fresh shirt.

Just a few things, in case of emergency.

I didn’t want to be presumptive, bringing a whole bag, like I was moving in.

For all I’d known, I could’ve been wrong and they didn’t want me, or they could’ve done something that sent red alert, red flag signals of all the nopes, get me the hell outta here.

But instead, I’m simply falling in deeper, wishing I’d brought all my luggage with me.

I smile and give myself a good look in the mirror.

My day two hair still fortunately looks good, so I don’t need a shower.

Luckily there’s still hot water, so I wash my face, which I never did last night.

I take off the old makeup, brush my teeth.

Then I apply some fresh makeup, brush my air and fluff it out.

I do look pretty good if I must say so myself.

I thinks it’s literally because I feel happy, light as air and in fact a little giddy.

This is what falling in love does to a person.

I take off Sebastian’s T shirt.

Then I look at what I have to wear and laugh. Of course I brought my sexiest matching underwear sets. I put on a matching set in navy blue, then on go my favorite jeans, my sweater and then my socks and boots.

His T-shirt is folded on the bed. I almost leave it there, then I pick it up and take it downstairs.

The lights are on again, so Maxim got the generator going.

Sebastian is at the stove in his pajama pants and a sweater, hair wet, making eggs.

How wonderful that this man cooks. I can see us working like this, as a team, making food for the three of us.

And then, if I were to have children with them, he’d be feeding our family.

And when he’s gone on missions, I can do the cooking alone, but when he returns, we cook together again.

I start setting the table and making toast. “Where’s Maxim?”

“Perimeter. Then he’ll want to walk the road.”

“Is he hiding from me?”

“He’s giving us the morning. He won’t always do this, but this first day he’s giving us this time. Then later I’ll do the same for the both of you.” He flips an egg. “Also, he genuinely likes walking the road. He’ll come back and tell me exactly how deep the drifts are and I’ll pretend to care.”

“Wow. It never ceases to amaze me how strong you two are in comparison to a regular human.”

He slides two eggs onto a plate. “How do you take your coffee?”

“Black. One sugar.”

“You asked last night how it would work,” he says over his shoulder. “This is could be how. We’re only sketching things out right now, but we could do it this way, mornings are mine. Evenings are his and nights are yours.”

“Nights are…what does that mean?”

“It means you never have to pick which one of us to have breakfast with. You just have breakfast. And you never have to pick which one of us to fall asleep on.” He glances over his shoulder. “You’ve already proved you can’t.”

I throw the dish towel at him.

He catches it without looking, which is very annoying. “None of this is written in stone. We can easily negotiate a schedule that works for all of us. And as time goes on, we change it when it needs changing.”

“And what about you two?” I ask. “Who gets Maxim in the mornings?”

“Nobody gets Maxim in the mornings. Maxim gets the road.” He puts a plate in front of me. “We’ve lived together for a year, Wren. We know how to share a house. We just never had a reason to share it with anyone else.”

I pick up my fork and put it down again. “And if I want both of you for breakfast?”

“Then he’d come in from the cold.”

I’m laughing and I’m eating eggs with a prince in pajama pants, and it is the easiest I have felt since the night Ilona walked into the Crossing.
