Chapter Two

“What?” She choked.

His eyes heated all on her. “Do you not like to be fucked? I can see your body is interested. Your face flushed. Heart rate and body temperature is up.” Heat infused her body under his gaze.

He was right about that….

“I…. didn’t know Cyborgs did that.”

“Since being free we do not. We decline all approaches. We are no longer bought and sold. And this is not that. I offer this freely. My interest is elevated. It shows on my systems. My optic tells me I have an interest in you. A curiosity. That has not happened since my training days. This is unique to me. We should explore it.”

She laughed, but he was being serious. Just sitting there gazing at her. She lost her amusement fast.

He was being real…. “Sorry. That was so unexpected, so unreal I had to laugh. Not at you but at the description.”

“You do not believe me?”

Shrugging. She knew Cyborgs spoke truthfully. They did not lie. She’d done Cyborg 101 in school. Fascinated by it all. Something about not seeing the value in wasting valuable resources to do so. “I believe it is a genuine offer.” She told him meaning it.

“But you are not taking it. Do I disgust you so much?”

How could he get that so wrong?....

“What? No!” Shaking her head and frowning. “You are a temptation any woman would wish for. You know this. They created you to be this person. To be a God.”

“They did what they wanted and used it well. But I am not that person anymore. And I cannot change how they made me.”

He sounded so sad; she felt for him.

His life had been beyond anything she could imagine.

Standing he cleared the desk of their meal wiping it down depositing the rubbish.

Turning he stalked towards her. Bending down turning her chair from the desk towards him.

Taking her legs in his hands he lifted her clear of her chair onto the table with a surprised squeak from her.

Leaning into her, his face level with hers. “Maybe a demonstration is needed.”

A demonstration?..... Was he serious?....

His hand going around her neck stroking her skin. His eyes so deep. Mesmerised her body hummed with every touch. “Skin like silk.” He murmured. “Many would die for such skin.”

“I hope not.”

He cracked a smile. “My name is Odin. My troop are from the Berserker geno. We come from the ancient barbarian tribe of the North of Old Earth. Cyborgs were created using the most dangerous and aggressive of DNA. Both human and animal. Grafting a metal frame, a computer, artificial organs, data nodes, nanos and programming to ensure our survival. We are what they made us. And I will have what I want female. Give you what you need. Me.”

His other hand brushing down her body, his thumb grazing her breast and rock-hard nipple. Holding in her moan she kept her lips shut. His lips at her ear.

“In our ancestry. Our people were not tame, not civilised. It makes us excellent Cyborgs. They would viciously conquer, rape and pillage. Take what they wanted. It was ancient times and the way of life back then. Fighting in the most barbaric way for everything. Only the strongest survived. Keeping safe those that meant something to them with their last breath. Decimate everything that would stand in their way. That’s what the Designers for Earth Corp our owners on Old Earth wanted of us.

They wanted that part of us that made us who we were. The Berserker of old.”

The hand at her neck taking hold of the collar of her tunic. Yanking down hard ripping it clean down the front, exposing her to him.

Holy shit….

“Do you understand female? You are mine for the taking.” Biting her neck, his hand slipped inside the open fabric caressing her breast. Her body electrified fired up, pulsing with her own need.

Damn….

Holding on to that desk real hard to stop herself leaning into him. Trying to breathe and couldn’t. Gasping for breath. She struggled. Immediately he let her go, closed her tunic and stood back.

“Breathe female. I did not mean for it to go so far. My apologises.” But still she struggled.

Concern crossed his face for a moment as she struggled, then he did something unexpected.

Biting into his hand he placed it in her mouth.

“Drink. It will help. Breathe through your nose. With me. Breath in. Breath out. Breath in. Breath out.” Her breathing suddenly easier with each one she drew in.

His hand coming away healed, she couldn’t believe it, her breathing was slowly back to normal.

“I’ve…. never seen…. that before.”

“Our nanos can sometimes help but not for long. A quick fix at best. They told us it could kill a human but that was not logical. We are part human, and it works well enough for us. On occasion, we have used it to help others.” Bending down to her he checked her pulse and eyes.

“That attack came from nowhere. Do you often have this problem?” His fingers stroking her cheek, she took deep staggering breaths.

“Not for a long time,” she panted drawing deep.

“I normally control it better. But,” she took another deep breath as he passed her a bottle of water cracked open.

Drinking it down. Then wiping her mouth, embarrassed now she’d let it get away from her.

“You are a lot to breathe through. That intensity. Never felt anything like it. Is that normal for you?”

Standing, moving back to the wall he leaned on it facing her.

Clearly giving her as much space as he could.

She was grateful. “I was barely trying female.” He told her quietly.

“That was just naturally me. Our sex is aggressive, dominant, demanding. Had I been trying even a little, you’d have lost all your self-control and been fucking me on that desk. ”

His words enticing it was hard not to react. “Wow.” Wiping her brow. She was hot. Too hot and drank some more water needing it her throat dry. “I can see how you were once so demanded.”

“That was fake. Programmed. This is not.” She didn’t know how to explain what had just happened.

But she couldn’t say he’d taken from her, she could have said no at any point, but she hadn’t, not deceiving herself, they both knew she’d wanted his touch.

“If you are ready, I will take you home. You are still recovering and this is my fault. Next time, we will take things a lot slower. Give your body a chance to be comfortable with me before we go further.”

Coming to her he helped her off the desk then stood back again. “I’m not comfortable with you offering sex like some misguided payment or reward. It feels wrong. I don’t like it.” She told him honestly.

“It might have started like that but it’s not that now. Get your things, time to go.”

She found herself gathered up and out in the parking area next to her solar car wondering if he was going to fit in. Then suddenly one very large truck was next to it. It towered over her. How had she not seen that?.... And gave a nod to it. “Yours?”

“Mine.”

“No one’s going to miss the size of that.” And looked around for gawkers.

“No one is monitoring me being here. I can see everything within a mile radius clearly and if I access the vid cameras, a lot more.”

“You’re not worried that someone will see you here and come looking?”

“No. That will never happen.” He took her bag from her. “Get in my truck. I’ll take you home. And tomorrow, I’ll bring you in again.”

“Don’t you have work to do?”

“I am always working. In the back of my optic, diagnostics and programs are running all the time. Data is constantly being compiled. Possible outcomes of events are listed and evaluated. Linked to my men, I’m working on decision-making with them. And a multitude of other things that run our world.”

Opening the door for her she climbed in. Suddenly glad of it not up to the drive. Settling herself in the seat her seatbelt on as he closed the door. Coming around the truck he got in himself passing her her bag. Not bothering with his own seatbelt, he started it. “Seatbelt?”

“Don’t need it. This truck could drop 100ft and I’d be undamaged.”

The vehicle moving off. “Damn. That’s some description.”

“It is the truth. Why deny it? And it gives you some comfort I can see it.”

He was right it did. “It does.” She’d not deny it. What would be the point? He could tell. Read her body language. It would be hard to hide anything from this male. Maybe he likes that. The truth in all its glory no matter what it is or how harsh. He would want it. “You know where you’re going?”

“I do. Your records are clear.”

She looked over to him. “You accessed my file?”

“Needed to know who I was dealing with. If you were someone that could be relied upon or would be a risk to my people.”

His honesty a comfort. Smiling at him. “And what did you decide?”

“You are no risk. You are a kind person. Committed to your work. Not married. No social media. No men or women relationship wise. But you prefer men sexually. And have good relationships with your staff. Your family have passed. You worked yourself through college, took on extra work for several years. Doing specialist work. Saved for your own practice. It is doing well.”

“Wow. You didn’t miss much.”

His eyes bored into her. Taking his attention from the road. “Female, I didn’t miss anything.”

His eyes going back to the road she swallowed, the intensity of his eyes staying with her. “I live in a busy area; someone will see this truck.”

“I have located somewhere to park no one will see it, it has its own camo. It will be a short walk. It is late, few people will be about.”

“Is that why I didn’t see it? Camo?” He gave a nod. “That’s neat. Must come in useful. If they can’t see it what’s to stop someone driving into it?”

“It has a preventative measure that speaks to other vehicles to avoid it.”

Having no idea what to say to that she kept quiet.

He drove down road after road eventually pulling up down the road from her house.

Getting out he helped her down shut the door the vehicle locking down.

It disappearing in front of her eyes. “I’m never getting used to that,” and yawned. It was late and she was tired.

“Come, you are exhausted and in need of sleep.” Ushering her along.

“I don’t know why I’m so tired.” And yawned again.

“Adrenalin. It spiked with our time together in your office depleting some of your energy, my nanos in your system burning through more and now it’s low.”

“Your nano’s do that to you?” The scientist in her coming through.

“They do. It is why we cannot live in peek condition without protein.”

Making her door she opened it with her Personal Independence Device, her PID on her wrist checking none of her neighbours were paying any attention. Going in quickly she barely saw Odin follow her in. He was that fast.

“I’m going to make some coda, clean up and hit the sheets.” Putting her bag down with her jacket.

“I’ll do it. Go up. I’ll bring it up.”

“You sure? Nowhere else you need to be?”

“I’m sure,” he tapped his head. ”Working in the back of my optic. I don’t have to be there to see or hear what’s going on.”

It was such a strange thing to hear. “OK if you’re sure. Thanks.”

Going up, stripping out of her work clothes, she dumped them in the laundry bin and showered.

Scrubbing down quickly, she was out again and in her PJs drying off her short hair and going to her bed.

Finding chilled ice water waiting on her side table she downed a glass before crawling in the sheets closing her eyes weary.

Odin had done that for her. Providing the iced water.

It was a kind thing to do. But she’d not seen him come and go.

She never heard him move. Ever.

It was another strange thing unique to him.

“Coda female.” Opening her eyes he was standing to one side not crowding the bed.

Holding her hand out to him. “Thanks.” Passing it to her he stepped back again. “Smells good.”

“Coffee would be better but it would keep you awake and you do not have any.”

Sipping the coda. “No too expensive. I like coda anyway so it's no hardship.” Taking another sip. “You know I’ve no idea what your work is here. I know it's security but not really what it is.”

Leaning against the door frame he gazed at her. “We deal with criminals of serious crime. The kind that humans cannot handle. Where lives are at risk. Or certain persons are targeted. Threats against the social order. Terrorism. The worst that human behaviour can offer.”

“That can’t be easy.”

“It is not. Had the Council of the originals listened to us in the beginning, we could have helped to put in place social codes of conduct. Keep behaviours from running out of control. Instil respect and good conduct, eliminate the bad from the off. But they did not want that. They wanted freedom of choice and we respected that. Finding our own way for generations before it was clear things were out of control and an intervention was needed. The Council of this age asked us to step in and do the job we’d offered to do all those years ago. ”

“When was that?”

“And you’ve been at it all this time?”

“Sadly yes. Cut the head off one snake and another appears.”

“I hear there are gangs at war.” Finishing her coda. Putting the cup on the side.

“There are. One of their number blew me out of the sky.”

“Until we get to the root of these people nothing will change.”

“Are you personally being targeted?”

“That is unclear.”

“So I was right not to have a connection made public.”

“My logic would say yes.”

She nodded. “Ok. I’ll let my staff know to be vigilant.”

“We will keep an eye on everyone. Including you.” She yawned. “I will take my leave female. Get some rest.”

“I go in late tomorrow. Not till 11. So sleeping in would be nice. I set my alarm for 9.30.” And yawned again. Coming to her he picked up her cup.

“I will not disturb you. In the morning I’ll take you back to work as promised.”

Smiling rolling over she wrapped herself in the flow blanket and settled in. Loving her bed it felt real good. Maybe she should have questioned him still being in her home but it was comfortable and nice and the feelings of earlier in her office still lingered.

The light going out without her having to ask the house computer to do it. Her last thoughts, she guessed he could do that too.
