Chapter Five

It was a wrench to leave but she knew she couldn’t stay.

She’d done what she’d come to do. And she was useless without her arm.

The staff and even some of the later clients she knew well wrote on her cast. Spending time with each of them asking after them and their families.

It felt good, dismissing their concern over her arm. Making up a story to explain it.

Their concern wasn’t needed and she’d be just fine.

Odin eager to be gone, he was ushering her out the door as quickly as possible without trying to draw too much attention. She would have told him there was no putting that genie back in the bottle but what would be the point?

He already knew that and was still trying.

It was cute really. Nearly 7ft tall and 4ft wide there was no hiding that. Trying to make the humans around him feel at ease. Hiding the scowl. Looking neutral. Not giving eye contact. His eyes on constant look out.

The man didn’t know how to relax.

Putting him out of his misery she cut it short, saying goodbye finally to Marrian outside. First, making an appearance at the corner. “You going to take that offer?” she whispered to her.

“Feels wrong.” She whispered back. “Look at him. He’s way out of my league, looks like a god, too young. I can’t deal with those expectations.”

Her attention all on Marrian she didn’t see First make his move until he was next to Marrian, taking her face in his hands and gently kissing her.

“Your fears are unwarranted. Anything you do not like or want, you tell me. If you don’t want this, tell me.

I will respect your decision. But, want it, you will get it all. ”

Marrian now caught in the headlights of First’s eyes, it was a good time to go. Turning she smiled at Odin. “Let's go.”

Escorting her back to the truck she was happy for her old friend.

In and secure and back on the road in minutes.

His security men disappearing into the shadows.

Just the two of them once more. Not sure if they were under surveillance by his men and the criminal element she looked out the window.

There was no way she could do nothing for 5 more weeks until her arm was repaired.

That visit showed her that.

“I can't do nothing for 5 more weeks Odin. It will drive me crazy. Maybe going home I could find something. Make myself keep busy.”

“Your home is not secure. If they know of you at the surgery, they know everything about you. They’ll know where you live. We’ve found it under surveillance but not moved in. Just keeping them busy to follow. They’re low hanging fruit. We need those calling the shots.”

“I can’t stay at the Cyborg Compound forever.”

“You would leave me?”

He sounded strange. Cold. Not like him at all. Turning to look at him. He held himself so tight she could see he was clinging to something. She just wasn’t sure what. “Are you upset?”

“I am concerned.”

“Why?”

“I am struggling with my need to protect you.”

“This won’t go on forever.”

“This might have brought us together, but our connection is not dependent on it. Over or not, our joining goes on.”

There was no doubt he meant it. “Goes on? Like a relationship?”

“I did tell you I was possessive. My optic tells me I do not want to let this go.”

“I….. can’t guarantee that. I have my work. My business. I spent years getting where I am. Working days and nights taking on extra, doing more studies, getting more expertise and experience. It’s my life.”

“I’m not asking you to give it up. I just want to be a part of it.”

“I don’t see how it would work. And your work is dangerous. You’d want to drag me into it? I can’t. This has been enough.”

“I understand. This has been difficult for you. You’re not used to this life. I wouldn’t want you to be. When this is over you’ll have your freedom back I promise.”

“But there will always be another gang, another security problem, another undercover role or priority security risk. That’s your job. It’s who you are. That will not change.”

“This life is not easy. We are hard to kill. You know this. And that does not mean you cannot have a full life. Have more if you want it.”

“I’m not sure I want or need more.”

“Then we will see.”

Pulling up in the Compound outside his house she waited for him to get out but he sat there. Eventually turning to her. “Do not ask me to give you up Janna. I do not think I could. Not now. I cannot tell the future. But I know you will choose for both of us and I will always follow.”

Frowning she didn't want that responsibility. She didn't want to lead them both down a path into an unknown future.

Who was she to do such a thing?...

Her life had once been so simple. But she wouldn't deny her feelings for this man. She cared for him very much. He had shown as much compassion as he had possession. Reading her body like a book, he'd been able to tell exactly what she needed when she needed it from him.

It was a little shocking she would admit.

Before she met him, she would never have considered that she could be so torn between her work and a man. But then he wasn't a human man was he? A Cyborg. In many ways the best of her people. They asked for nothing and gave much. Were selfless in the face of great danger.

Doing what humans feared to do.

Where would they be now without them….

Sighing, she knew he didn’t ask for this either.

He’d been doing his duty to her people and was nearly killed for it.

Maybe faced with his own mortality it invoked change.

Evolution of his species. After all, how long could they go on alone?

What did they have apart from the duty they’d created themselves and the expectations of others to fulfill it.

What did they get in return?.....

Nothing they didn’t carve out for themselves.

That seemed all wrong. Giving so much for no reward and yet they asked for none. And for generations had protected and saved them, made sure that the underbelly that was tainting and ruining their world was held in check.

That someone made them pay for their crimes.

Not that it was a deterrent.

Human beings did what they wanted to do. Lived by a moral code or not. The majority unaware of what went on beneath the pretty and social crust. Or maybe they knew like she did but chose not to deal with it. If it didn’t affect them, why court danger right?

But that kind of thinking and the lack of social constraint in the first place had created this. Had led them here. None of their doing the Cyborgs were cleaning up after them.

“I didn’t mean to sound ungrateful. I’m sorry.” She told him honestly.

“You are not. It is not your gratitude I wish. We should go in it is not safe to sit out here.”

Opening his door he came around to hers helping her out.

Helping her down and escorting her into the house.

Going in the door locking down behind them, there was no uncomfortable silence.

Just picking up where they’d left off. Each going about their routine.

Doing the chores they’d chosen to do. Odin starting dinner.

Her making coffee. Both working around each other with nothing more to say. Just like an old married couple.

Stopping at the thought. Where did that come from?....

Could Cyborgs be an old married couple?....

Yeah, her mind was fractured she told herself. What was she thinking? They didn’t age. How could they ever be an old married couple?

Slumping she took a chair at the island.

Odin coming to her he caged her in against that island. “You are thinking too hard.” His face in her neck, his lips on his bite.

“You gave me a lot to think about.”

“I apologise. You know we are direct, honest. We do not lie.”

“I know.”

“Dinner can wait beautiful. Let me show you what life would be like with me. You can work, have a life, have me. Do more. Have more. Be whole.” He kissed her neck. “Tell me what you need from me. I will happily give it.”

“Not to think for a while would be nice.” She whispered leaning back on him.

The words barely out of her mouth he was picking her up carrying her up the stairs to what they both considered their bedroom now. Odin stripping both of them quickly. Naked he was everything she needed. His cock at her entrance he hesitated. “Do you want me female?”

“You can read me, you know I do.”

“Then tell me. I want to hear it.”

“I want you in me Odin. I want to feel you. To know I’m alive. That here, we are who we want to be and nothing can change or harm us. This is our sanctuary. Our space. Our time for however long it lasts.”

“It will last for however long you need me.” He nudged her entrance. “Now, I’m taking what’s mine!” He thrust and struck deep. Her gasp at the stretch and pull in the air.

“God that feels good….”

His pace hard and fast, striking her deep at every turn.

Her holding on for dear life as he rode her.

Trying to hang on. Clinching his arms for leverage.

Her legs around his hips she stretched them wide, giving him as much room as possible to go as deep as possible.

Feeling him all the way inside her to her chest.

His growl in the air all around her. His dominance taking over. She knew he’d not liked the indecision she’d given him or the challenge to their status. He was dealing with it in the only way he knew how. Domination over what he can control.

She moaned, he was so good at this.

Grasping his butt to her she encouraged him on.

“You would give this up? Us?”

“Right now I don’t want to.” She panted riding it out.

Kneeling up, he lifted her butt off the bed holding her to him. Her shoulders on the mattress. Holding her high and wide her bare to him, vulnerable, his arms around her thighs holding her to him he did what he did best and dominated.

Her climax blew out of nowhere. Blowing her mind. Odin’s roar called to the heavens his grip tightened, and he started to pound hard and fast his roar in the air around them.
