6. Silas
SILAS
I wake to her footsteps in the hallway. Light.
Hesitant. Stopping just outside my door.
I count her breaths through the wood—three in, three out, a pause—then the soft retreat toward the stairs.
She doesn't knock. Doesn't enter. She goes down to breakfast with Stella and Richard and Maya, and I lie there, my cock hard, my jaw tight, knowing something's shifted.
Maya is the problem. I knew it the moment I saw her on the porch, those dark eyes cataloging everything, her sharp mind already connecting touches and glances and the bruise on Selene's throat.
She's not a guest. She's a mirror. An external eye that makes our secret real, forces it into language, demands it be named and judged and ended.
I shower, dress, and head downstairs. The kitchen smells like coffee and pancakes and Stella's relentless optimism.
Selene is at the island in a simple skirt and a loose white shirt, her hair pulled back, her face a mask that fools everyone but me.
She doesn't look up when I walk in. Just stares at her plate, her fork moving in small, mechanical motions.
"Silas, sweetheart, sit down," Stella says, beaming. "We're discussing the fall garden. Selene has such wonderful ideas about the hydrangeas."
I pour coffee, black, scalding. I lean against the counter opposite Selene. Maya sits beside her, wearing ripped jeans and a band shirt, her eyes finding mine immediately, holding, challenging. I don't look away. I let her see what I am. I let her measure the danger and find it sufficient.
"Your friend is visiting," I say to Selene, my voice neutral. "How long does she stay?"
"Just the weekend," Selene mumbles, her voice barely audible.
"Such a nice surprise," Stella chirps. "We should all have dinner tonight. Richard, isn't that a wonderful idea?"
Richard nods over his newspaper, his silver hair catching the morning light, his attention on stock prices rather than his family. "Wonderful," he agrees, not listening.
Selene's hand shakes. She sets her fork down with a clatter that makes Stella glance over, concerned.
"Sweetheart? Are you feeling alright?"
"Fine," Selene lies, her voice cracking. "Just... the heat. I think I need air."
She stands, pushes past Maya, stumbles toward the back door. I watch her go, watch the way her shoulders hunch, the way her hands tremble at her sides. She's breaking. Maya's ultimatum has cracked something in her, some last resolve that kept her moving through our loops.
I wait one minute before following.
I find her in the garden, kneeling between the hydrangeas, her hands in the dirt, her face buried in her knees.
She's crying silently, her body shaking, her skirt stained with soil and tears.
The August sun beats down, turning the morning into a furnace, and she sits in the dirt like a child who has lost something irreplaceable.
I don't comfort her.
I stand over her, my shadow falling across her back, and wait until she feels my presence. She looks up, her face streaked with dirt and tears, her eyes swollen, her mouth open in a silent gasp.
"You don't hide from me," I say, my voice gravel and the control I've maintained since she arrived. "Not ever. Not your tears. Not your fear. Not your fucking doubts."
"I can't," she whispers, her voice breaking. "Maya says I have to tell her. She says she'll tell Mom if I don't. I can't do it, Silas. I can't look my mother in the face and tell her I'm fucking my stepbrother. I can't destroy her. I can't destroy us."
"You won't."
I lift her, turn her, bend her over the garden wall. The stone is warm from the sun, rough against her stomach, her breasts pressed against the flat surface. I lift her skirt, expose her bare ass, and spank her.
My bare palm against her skin, hard and sharp, the sound cracking through the morning air like a gunshot.
She cries out, her body jerking, her hands clawing at the stone.
I spank her again, and again, and again, until her ass is red and raw, until she's sobbing into the dirt, until the tears that were silent become screams that dissolve into the earth.
"Who do you belong to?" I demand, my voice rough, my cock hard against my jeans, my control splintering with every stroke.
"You," she sobs. "You, Daddy, you?—"
"Who decides what you do? Who decides what you say? Who decides when you come and when you wait and when you break?"
"You do. Only you. Always you."
I stop spanking. I press my palm against her heated skin, feeling the burn I created, the marks that will last for days. Then I slide my hand between her legs, find her wet and swollen and ready, and push two fingers inside her.
She comes instantly, screaming into the dirt, her body convulsing around my fingers, her arousal slicking my palm, her nails drawing blood from the stone wall.
I don't let her finish. I keep working her, curling my fingers, finding the spot that makes her vision blur, and I bring her to the edge again, and again, until she's begging, until she's incoherent, until she's nothing but my hand and her need and the word Daddy falling from her lips like a prayer.
I lower her to the grass with my jacket under her head and kiss the tears from her cheeks, tasting salt and earth and her.
I hold her, stroking her hair, murmuring that she's good, she's perfect, she just needs to trust me.
I tell her we'll tell them together—tonight, after, whenever she's ready, whenever I'm ready, when the world can't tear us apart because we'll be too joined, too claimed, too irrevocably bound.
"Tonight?" she whispers, her voice hoarse, her body limp and glowing in the grass.
"Tonight," I confirm. "But first, I need to show you something. Something I've been building. Something that's ours."
I drive her to the construction site in my truck, the F-250 with Hayes Custom Homes stenciled on the door.
She sits beside me, wearing my jacket over her stained skirt, her legs pressed together, her hand finding mine on the gear shift.
The drive takes twelve minutes, through Southampton streets lined with oak trees and privilege, past the beach where I found her standing at the waterline, past the store where I sent her with a plug inside her, past every moment that has led us here.
The site is on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic, the foundation poured, the frame rising, the skeleton of a house that will be our home. I park beside the plywood stacks, help her from the truck, lead her through the construction zone with her small hand in mine.
"This is it," I say, gesturing to the structure. "Three bedrooms. Floor to ceiling windows facing the water. A kitchen with an island big enough for both of us. A bathtub I carved from stone I imported from Germany."
She stares at the house, her eyes wide, her mouth open. "You built this? For us?"
"I'm building it," I correct. "It's not finished. Nothing is finished. But it will be. When you're ready. When we're ready. When the world knows what we are and can't do anything to stop us."
I carry her through the doorway that has no door yet, into the master bedroom that has no walls yet, just studs and beams and the exposed skeleton of our future.
The unfinished plywood is rough beneath her back when I lay her down.
Construction dust clings to her hair, the ocean glinting through the open frame behind us.
The air smells like fresh-cut lumber and her skin, like vanilla and salt, and I drink it in.
I undress her slowly. Jacket first, then her clothes, piece by piece, until she's naked and marked and mine in the afternoon light.
Bruises on her hips from my fingers. The faint pink of my handprint on her ass.
Marks on her neck. Her skin gleams with sweat, catching the light through the unfinished beams.
I undress myself. My cock springs free, thick and curved, pulsing.
She stares. Her lips part.
"See what you do to me?"
She reaches for me, but I catch her wrist.
"Not yet."
I kneel between her thighs. The plywood bites my knees. I spread her open, watching her pink flesh glisten and pulse, already swollen and ready. Two fingers inside her. Then three. She's tight but yielding, her walls fluttering, dripping slick and hot down my wrist.
She moans, low and broken. "Daddy..."
"So wet for me." I lean down, press my tongue flat against her clit, lick broad and slow. Her hands fist in my hair, her thighs clamp around my head, and she grinds against my mouth.
"Oh gosh—please, don't stop, I'm so close?—"
I work her with my tongue and fingers, circling, flicking, sucking. Her body tightens. Her walls clench. She shatters, trembling, crying out into the open air.
"Please," she gasps. "Please, Daddy. I need you inside me. All of you."
I position myself at her entrance. The head presses against her slick folds.
"Look at me."
She does, her eyes glassy and tears spilling down her cheeks.
"Ready?"
She nods. "Please. I need to feel you. I need to know I'm yours."
I push inside.
The stretch is immediate. Burning. Exquisite. She's so tight, impossibly tight, her body fighting me even as her hips lift. Her nails drag down my back. I feel the resistance, the way she clenches and releases, tries to breathe through the overwhelm.
"Breathe, baby. Breathe through it."
She sucks in air. I sink deeper. Inch by inch. Her walls flutter and clench and finally, gloriously, open. She grows around me, stretches for me, accepts me, takes me all the way until I'm buried to the root.
"Oh—Daddy—it's so much?—"
"Shh. I've got you."
She screams my name, then Daddy, the word tearing through me.
I move, slow at first, deliberate, each thrust dragging through her swollen walls, the ridge of my crown catching on every sensitive place. Her eyes roll back, her teeth sink into her lower lip, and her legs wrap around my waist, heels digging into my lower back, pulling me deeper.
"Harder," she begs. "Please, harder."
