Chapter 26
Chapter Twenty-Six
Samantha wasn’t sure what to think about the break-in.
Why would someone go to all that trouble just to take a couple of things?
She turned it all over in her mind as they drove back to the Guard mansion.
Maybe it wasn’t a lot of trouble, really.
Her apartment door was kind of thin. Someone looking for a quick smash-and-grab could easily bust the lock.
And she obviously wouldn’t have much in there.
That much was probably evident just from looking at the outside of the place.
But something was better than nothing for someone just needing a quick buck.
All they’d taken was her Tonya outfit, though. That was weird! Well, and her diner uniform. That was even weirder!
The Tonya outfit might make sense if someone recognized it as designer. Not that it was a truly designer outfit. It was a knock-off. The thief might not have realized that, though.
There were other Tonya outfits in her closet that weren’t missing. Samantha had been so nervous that Kendrick would notice them. Then again, he probably didn’t observe what Tonya had been wearing most of the time. Guys didn’t notice things like that.
Why hadn’t the burglar had taken those? Maybe they just rummaged through the cabinets and things quickly, saw the one under the sink in the bathroom, and ran off with it.
But clothes? Even designer, you wouldn’t get much from reselling.
None of this made sense.
It was also terrifying.
Was she being targeted? Who would do that to her?
“You okay over there?” Kendrick asked.
She tore herself away from her thoughts and looked out the window to see the scenery had changed considerably. They were getting closer to the mansion now. Lawns were larger and looked like golf courses. Vehicles were more expensive.
People probably didn’t just kick the doors in on these houses.
“Yeah. Just thinking about everything.”
“Well, you’re safe now, babydoll.” A few seconds later, Kendrick added, “I’m sorry about your job.
You were right. The owner is a real jerk.
Wouldn’t even cut you a little bit of slack.
” Samantha noticed him taking his eyes off the road long enough to smile at her.
“But now that you’re off, we could do something fun. That surprise I wanted to take you to.”
She perked up. “Really?”
“Yep.”
“It’s something fun?”
“You bet.”
She could sure use something fun.
“I’ll go wherever you want to go, Daddy.” She gasped. “Uh, I guess it’s okay if I call you that. Right? We haven’t really talked about it.”
“It’s more than okay, honey. And while we’re talking… well, I need to know some things.”
“Ask away.”
Oh crap! Was he onto her? Did he suspect about Tonya?
That fear disappeared when he said, “How Little are you? You can tell Daddy. There’s no need to be embarrassed. I need to know so I can properly take care of my little girl.”
“Well,” she said, pondering the question.
The truth was, she didn’t really know how to answer.
She was a Little, of course. And she didn’t think she identified quite like Iris and the other women at the mansion did.
But the truth was she’d only made fun of them for wearing diapers because it was a way to stand out.
To puff herself up. Make Tonya superior.
Now that she needed to truly answer this question for herself, she didn’t exactly have an answer.
“I don’t know.”
“No problem at all. We can experiment.”
“Really? It won’t bother you not to… have it nailed down?”
“Oh honey, no. Think about it. Even with stuff other than this unique dynamic—anything in a relationship—couples don’t know everything on day one. It takes time. Sometimes years. Maybe it never stops. We might be married fifty years and still learn something new about each other every day.”
She sank in her chair a little as a warm feeling spread inside her. A soft giggle escaped her lips.
Being married fifty years to Kendrick was a dream!
And she loved that he was clearly thinking in terms of forever.
So was she.
“While we figure this out, there are still rules. Well, one rule. Basically, do what Daddy says.”
She nodded. “Aye, aye, Daddy, Sir!”
He laughed and looked over at her again. “Oh, honey. You’re too cute for your own good.”
At the mansion, word had spread that there was a special surprise that day. Some sort of field trip, it seemed.
Lana had even taken off work, telling the studio she wanted some vacation time. The ladies were excitedly talking about it all in the den when Kendrick pulled Samantha aside for a private conversation.
“We’re going to be gone all day and into the night,” Kendrick said. “And there are, of course, bathrooms where we’re going. But I’d feel better if you were in a pull-up at least.”
Samantha covered her mouth as she giggled.
“What’s wrong, cutie?”
She shook her head. “Nothing. I just… never have worn one.”
Well, that was only kind of true, she realized. The other day, Auntie had put her in a diaper as part of her discipline. But it wasn’t a pull-up! So, technically…
“Would you wear one for Daddy, please? While we figure things out. You might hate it and not need it. Or—and I know how Littles can be—you might get caught up in the moment, being with the other girls, and so you start adopting some of their ways…” He smirked with a knowing gleam in his eyes.
“Aren’t they wearing Big girl clothes?” she asked, remembering that they were in jeans and regular shirts, not frilly dresses or other Little outfits.
“Yep. But they have diapers on. No one can see, of course. We don’t expose ‘nillas to our kink around here without consent. But… they have padding and protection. You better believe it.”
Samantha thought it over and finally relented with a smile.
Thirty minutes later, with a pull-up on beneath her jeans, she was in the Daddy Guard’s van, with everyone else, heading for what promised to be an exciting surprise.
“Universal Studios! Oh my gosh! I’ve always wanted to go here!” Samantha declared.
She ran ahead of the group, stopped in front of a big movie theater and spun in a circle atop the paved walkway.
The area was closed off to cars. All around the theater, connected like one big building, were shops and restaurants.
In the distance, a blueish King Kong hung off the side of one structure.
“And this is just CityWalk,” Lana told her. “Wait until you actually get inside the park!”
Samantha was beyond excited. She started to run deeper into the CityWalk portion and toward the actual theme park, but Daddy called out, saying, “Honey, wait up! I don’t want us to get separated and you get lost.”
She fell back and took hold of his hand. “Yes, Sir. This is just amazing!”
He kissed the side of her head. “I’m glad you’re excited. But you know what? Why don’t you share your location with me? This is a giant place. The park is actually multiple levels, going down the mountain a ways. This way, if we get separated, we can easily find one another.”
She pulled out her phone and took the necessary steps to share her location with him.
“Good girl.” He gave her another kiss. “Like I said, you’re going to have a blast today.”
Kendrick was proven right. She loved every second of their day!
They rode everything—some attractions more than once—and ate their way through the park. They saw shows, toured the actual studio, and shopped.
When night fell was when the real magic started, though.
The park came alive in brilliant, beautiful, dazzling Christmas lights.
The Christmas trees and wreaths had been magnificent in the daylight hours, but now, awash in the festive glow, they were otherworldly.
“Daddy!’ she cried, not realizing that she was calling him that in public, around so many people. “There’s a Christmas parade starting soon!” She pointed at the sign advertising the big event.
“That’s the main reason we came. I’m going to show you those lights you’ve always wanted to see,” Kendrick told her.
Tears welled in her eyes. Holding Daddy’s hand she stood by her new friends—or were they her family?—along the parade route, waiting for the floats to come by. Eventually, they did. And she loved every moment of it.
But it wasn’t the characters and fantastic lights or the breathtaking spectacle that made the experience so special.
She never thought she’d find herself in a situation like this, with people who cared about her.
With a Daddy.
Yet here she was. Life sure had a way of working out sometimes, she reflected. In fact, all seemed so right with the world, that she forgot about the break-in at her apartment, the harm she’d caused as Tonya, and the fact that her dirty little secret was still out there.
Just waiting to come to light…
