21. Insatiable Reapers #3
Glancing over his shoulder, Caleb looked at her and gave a sad smile. “Hey, baby…”
He watched her approach him before she sat down on the bed next to him. Lacing her fingers with his, she looked at him. “I’m worried about you. Are you okay?” she asked.
Caleb smiled as he affectionately kissed her fingers. “I will be.”
She tenderly pressed her lips against his in a comforting kiss. But Caleb didn’t pull away as his lips worked her mouth open before his tongue was entangled with hers. Her arms wrapped around his neck as she fell back on the bed and his muscular body mounted her.
Caleb’s fingers slipped between her thighs, touching her bare, wet pussy. “Goddamn, baby, you’re soaked… Is this for me?”
“No,” she said, pushing him back. “I didn’t come in here to fuck.”
Caleb frowned. “That’s the meanest thing you’ve ever said to me.”
Deja laughed as she crawled out from underneath him. “I wanna FaceTime my parents.”
Caleb raised a brow as he searched the room before landing on a laptop. “Here,” he said, opening the app. “The webcam is HD.”
“Do you have shorts I can borrow?” she asked.
Caleb frowned. “But I like looking at your-”
“Caleb!”
“Fine, fine,” he snickered, handing her a pair of sweats.
Folding her legs beneath her, Deja fixed her shirt before dialing her parents.
“Deja!”
Deja’s face lit up as tears brimmed in her eyes. “H-hi, Mom!”
While Deja spoke with family, Caleb stood at the window, staring out into the busy city. His mind was consumed with Jamie. Caleb refused to give up looking for hi, regardless of what his cousins said.
“Chloe is sleeping, but she’s doing okay. I’ll send you pictures,” Deja smiled.
Caleb couldn’t stop thinking about the way people looked at him. Most looked terrified. Was Jamie really terrorizing the city? He wondered what his standing was with the Seoul Reapers.
“I don’t know when I’ll be back, but the guys are taking care of me. Are you guys okay? No one’s been bothering you?” Deja asked.
Tilting his head, Caleb stared at a beautiful dark-skinned woman on the other side of the hotel.
She wore a long t-shirt that nearly reached her large hips, tiny shorts that barely covered her curvaceous ass, and thigh-high socks straining against her thick thighs.
Her blonde braids were tied into a bun on top of her head.
She seemed to be eating ice cream while watching TV.
Caleb furrowed his brow. Why did she look so familiar?
“God, I miss them…”
Caleb glanced over his shoulder at Deja as she stared blankly at her computer screen. He spotted the tears staining her cheeks and rushed to the bed. Pulling her into his arms, Caleb cradled her against his chest. “It’s just temporary, baby…” he said, kissing her temple.
“Is it…?” she said bitterly. “I’ve had to pick up my entire life, leave my family and friends, and move to a country where I don’t know the language, the culture- I… I just wanna go home…”
Caleb twisted his mouth before kissing Deja’s temple again.
“It’s been relatively quiet…”
Ian’s gaze lingered on Deja as she sat on the couch breastfeeding Chloe, who was mesmerized by her mother’s soft smile and gentle cooing. “As long as we lay low, Deja shouldn’t draw attention anymore,” Ian finished.
“Except…” Jax said, exchanging glances with Ian.
“Except what?” Deja asked.
Ian hesitated. “Um… well…”
“Except this,” Keith said, holding up his phone.
Deja squinted as she looked at his screen, when her eyes widened. “Is that social media page about me?! Wait, is she… wearing a shirt that says ‘Deja Cru?”
“Yes!” Keith cackled. “Like Deja Vu! But Deja Cru…Crew!”
“Ew,” Caleb snorted.
“Clever…” Ian said sarcastically.
“It seems since Tucker’s murder, you’ve amassed a following,” Jax said. “What Ian forgot to say… was that you’ve gone viral in The Society media space.”
“What?!” Deja blurted.
“I was going to tell you…” Ian muttered.
Caleb snorted. “When? …When she showed up on another incel’s podcast?”
“How do I get one of these shirts?” Keith asked. “I want it in black.”
Deja tried not to panic. “I wasn’t trying to gain any following. I was just- ...I wasn’t…” she looked at Jax helplessly. “What do I do?”
“Exactly what Ian said: lay low until this blows over,” Jax advised.
“I found the online store! This shit comes on mugs!” Keith snickered.
“Capitalism. Disgusting…” Caleb muttered.
“You’re not making Deja feel any better,” Ian warned Keith.
Keith looked at Deja and frowned. “Don’t sweat it, baby girl.
This shit will blow over just like Jax said.
But I mean… you’re so fucking badass, why shouldn’t you have stans killing in your name?
Besides, this page only has like what… 400 followers?
” he said, looking at his phone. “Oh shit, nope, 6,000.”
“Ohhhhh, my god!” Deja panicked.
“You’re making it worse, Keith,” Caleb sighed.
“Okay, how about this?” Keith said, crouching in front of her. “Let’s get your mind off of it and head into the city. I’ll show my baby girl a good time,” he winked.
“Chloe’s coming with us,” Jax said.
“Fuck. Never mind,” Keith sighed as Ian and Caleb laughed.
