Epilogue
ELIAS
Clearly, I’ve lost my goddamn mind.
There’s no other explanation for the fact that I’m in town at four o’clock in the afternoon, shopping for ice-cream toppings so a bunch of Little girls can have a sundae bar.
What started out as a short enough list for banana splits soon grew into pretty much every single sauce, candy, and flavor of ice cream imaginable.
It’s a good thing for them they’re all so damn cute.
Slamming the door of my SUV behind me, I stomp toward the doors of the grocery store. But a loud, angry voice stops me in my tracks, drawing my attention to my right.
To the most stunning woman I’ve ever seen in my life.
Thick, lush curves fill out the t-shirt and jeans she’s wearing, making the otherwise plain clothing look positively sinful.
Her head is down, and the dark blonde hair pulled up in an adorably messy ponytail is partly obscuring her face, but I can still see enough of her profile to see that she is simply… gorgeous.
“Jesus fucking Christ. Can’t you do anything right?
Now I have to go figure out how to get us a hotel room or something in this godforsaken town.
I swear, if I’d realized how fucking useless you were, I never would have married you.
But it’s good for you I did, isn’t it? Nobody else would want a wife who can’t even manage something as simple as honeymoon plans. ”
Turning on his heel, the man storms away, his phone already to his ear as he paces in place. The woman looks up, and even from this distance, I can see the tears in her pale eyes.
Everything about her calls to me, begging me to rescue her. Crying out for Daddy to come save her from this brute of a man who claims to be her husband.
So that’s just what I’m going to do.
Even before she utters a single word, Eli Thorne knows the woman he sees being berated in town is meant to be his Little girl. So he does what any good Daddy would do—he takes her, claims her, and vows to keep her safe.
Whether she wants him to, or not.
