Chapter 13
Chapter Thirteen
“Look at this! I can swing so high!” Nova said as she launched herself off the platform, holding onto the soft nylon rope as she soared out over the ball pit below.
Letting go of the rope, she plummeted down until she landed in the sea of colorful plastic orbs with a loud clack.
The balls continued to bump each other as she broke the surface and swam back to the edge where Xavier stood.
“That was something,” he said with a grin. “You look to be enjoying yourself.”
“I am! This place is the best. It’s like a Littles’ paradise tucked away in the last spot on earth anyone would expect it. And my new friends are the best! They’re going to come to my show tonight.”
Behind her in the ball pit, Stephanie, Trixie, and Kelsey cheered.
“I’m glad. What time do you need to go back to the casino?”
“A couple of hours. Unless someone needs me earlier. Let me check my phone. I need to see if my manager has texted.”
Scrambling out of the pit, she swore she could feel Xavier’s eyes on her—though that might have been wishful thinking on her part. She didn’t try to pull her dress down, though, as she climbed out. Instead, she let the short pink babydoll dress ride up, giving him quite a view.
“You want to come with me?” she asked over her shoulder.
Indeed, he was already looking at her.
Walking forward, she smirked.
Once she was in the room she was using, she grabbed her phone off the charger on the nightstand and checked the screen. “Nothing. I’m good to go for another two hours or so.” Turning back to look at Xavier, she asked, “Did y’all figure anything out?”
“We have a plan. Won’t happen tonight. Going to take some time to put together. But I think we’ll get this thing squared away soon.”
Nova was surprised she wasn’t happier to hear that news. While she took no pleasure in the grim circumstances, she wasn’t ready to leave the Daddy Guard compound yet.
Or Xavier.
It was funny, she mused silently. Even though it had barely been any time at all, she’d already grown used to having him constantly around. That was something she wasn’t ready to give up yet.
But this wasn’t healthy or safe for anyone, so they needed to get this handled. Plus, left unchecked, the stalker might turn his sights to someone else, making their life miserable as well. Or worse.
No, this guy needed to be stopped now.
Once this was all over, maybe there was a way she and Xavier could get to know one another better. She wouldn’t be in Vegas forever—and her career would take her all over the world—but perhaps they could still keep in contact.
She’d worry about all that when the time came. Right now, she’d just enjoy every moment she had with him, even under the grave circumstances.
“Thank you again for doing all this. It truly means a lot to me. Would it… be okay… if I hugged you again?”
His smile reached his eyes and voice. “You can hug me anytime you want to, cutie.”
Nova nearly melted.
Once she was in his arms, she savored the embrace.
“I’m glad you’re going to be at the show tonight.”
“I wouldn’t miss it,” he told her.
Would he be able to enjoy the show? Or would he be too busy protecting her?
Surely the stalker wouldn’t try anything while she was on stage. Right? There would be so many witnesses!
Either way, she was glad Xavier would be close by.
For so many reasons…
