Chapter 62

Cash sat on the sofa back in their apartment with Addie on his lap. She had a blanket tucked around her and was hugging Snaggles tight.

When he’d walked up toward the door of the apartment, she’d stiffened and made a small noise of fear. Poor baby had been kidnapped after her first night in a new place.

This apartment was probably tainted for her now. He’d need to find them somewhere else to live.

He couldn’t believe that bastard had taken her from under his fucking nose. She’d only been dressed in a fucking T-shirt, for God’s sake. It was no wonder she was shaking. And he’d knocked her out.

Hack had met them here to check her over. He’d thought she might have a mild concussion so Cash had to keep a close eye on her.

He’d be doing that anyway.

Who knew how this was going to affect her?

“Right, those guys have been taken away and we had the place cleaned,” Ink said. “The cops should be arriving soon now that the town has settled down.”

Thanks to Ink who’d had the foresight to have some friends create enough chaos that the cops hadn’t had time to look into the report of reckless driving.

Addie shuddered. When she was feeling more like herself, he was going to need to talk to her about seeing a therapist. She’d gone through so much in these past two weeks.

“Right, now that everything is done,” Ink said, walking over to them. “Will you be okay?”

“We’ll be fine. Thanks for everything, man,” Cash said. “I owe you.”

“You don’t owe family.”

Finally, it was just the three of them left. Cash glanced up at his brother. “Thanks for your help, Aidan.”

“You don’t have to thank me,” Aidan said, sitting next to him with a deep sigh. “I’m just glad your girl is okay. Maybe we can have dinner soon at our place so she can meet Livvy and the boys.”

“Yeah, that would be good. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you everything that was going on,” Cash told him.

“I’m here for you, brother. We’re family. Yeah, some fuckups have been made in the past, but they’re done. We’re family forever and I love you.”

“I love you too,” Cash told him.

Addie turned her head to smile at Aidan. She knew it was shaky, but she wanted to let him know that she would be all right. And that she totally approved of what he’d just said to Cash.

Aidan smiled back. “Nice to meet you, little sister.”

Oh. Wow.

“Now, are you guys going to be all right staying here? Do you want to come stay with us?”

She tensed at the thought of staying here tonight. She wasn’t sure she’d feel safe.

“Thanks, but we have a place to go for the night.”
