20. Chapter 20

DAISY

Ican’t believe I flew into Las Vegas on a private jet.

And now, I’m standing in the most luxurious hotel suite I’ve ever seen.

The living room is bigger than the first floor of my apartment building.

The spacious room with floor-to-ceiling windows is set above the Las Vegas Strip.

Colorful neon lights ripple over the glass.

Soft lighting from crystal chandeliers showcases plush furniture, gold fittings, and marble flooring.

This is something I’d only see in movies.

Kade walks toward me with a champagne flute in his hand and passes it to me. “Do you like the suite?”

“It’s so beautiful. I feel like I’m having a Pretty Woman moment. Except, I’m not a prostitute, and you’re not paying me.” Oh God, what am I saying? This situation has rattled me.

He chuckles. “I have no idea what a ‘Pretty Woman’ moment is.”

“What? Julia Roberts. Richard Gere. It’s only one of the most popular movies of all time.”

He shrugs. “Don’t know it.”

“Wow.” I shake my head in disbelief. “You’re the one who needs to get out and live a little.”

He laughs out loud, and the sound vibrates through me, sending tingles along my spine. We’ve been in the suite for at least ten minutes, and Kade hasn’t made a move. Nerves jump under my skin in anticipation. I take a sip of champagne to help calm my nerves. “You own the casino in the hotel?”

“Yes, and also the hotel with Lincoln and Asher.”

My mouth drops open. I knew they were mega-rich, but this is on a whole new level of richness. Why is he here with me? Supermodels, movie stars, and heiresses would be more suited for him.

“That’s amazing. I can’t imagine how anyone gets to own the businesses you have. It’s truly incredible. You must all be so proud.”

“Sure.” His response is blunt. Is he trying to be modest? I finish the champagne. The crisp liquid is smooth on my tongue, and I refuse Kade’s offer for another one. I want to be sober to enjoy what’s about to come.

He plucks the glass from my hand and brings it to a bar in the corner of the room. “I have a meeting I have to go to.”

“Now?” When he said he was coming to Vegas for business, I was hoping he’d changed his mind now that I decided to join him.

Like he senses my disappointment, he walks to me and cups my cheek in his hand. “It will only take around an hour. I’ll come back as quick as I can.”

He points to a door. “In that room, you’ll find everything you need to freshen up.

There is a change of clothes, if you want them, and toiletries.

I promise I won’t be long.” With that, leaves me alone, wondering what the hell is going on.

I thought when we had the opportunity to finally be together, he’d jump at the chance.

I head to the room Kade pointed to. I’m curious to see what’s in there.

I switch on the light and gasp at the sight before me.

There’s more than a change of clothes. There’s a boutique of garments hanging on portable clothes hangers—evening gowns, cocktail dresses, dresses that are suitable for clubbing…

stylish and not too skimpy. My fingers run along the fabric.

Tags are still attached to everything. Gucci.

Chanel. Louis Vuitton. I check one on a cream dress with a silver shimmer and nearly pass out.

Five thousand, three hundred dollars. I’m too scared to touch anything.

I’d have to work months to own one of these items.

On the bed is a pile of silky negligees in pale pink, black, and dusty gold.

Also on the bed is underwear. Again, all of the highest quality.

I pick up a black bra and panty set, expecting it to be dental floss.

Instead, there’s a decent amount of coverage.

It’s like Kade knows exactly the type of clothes and underwear I feel comfortable wearing.

Something warm settles in my chest at the sweet gesture.

When did he get the time? Was it when he was texting someone after we boarded the plane?

The dressing table holds more toiletries and makeup than a high-end department store.

He’s thought of everything. And by looking at the sizing, how did he know what would fit?

My head spins, and it’s not from one glass of champagne. I really need to call Sally.

I FaceTime her so I can show her the room.

It rings four times before she answers, her hair is a rumpled mess like she’d been sleeping.

“Daisy, why are you calling? You should be preoccupied. Oh, wait… has something happened? Has he done something to you?” She sits up in bed, clutching the sheet to her chest. Is she naked?

Since when does she sleep with no pyjamas?

“I will fly out right now and kick him in the balls if he’s being an asshole. ”

There is no doubt in my mind that Sally would do what she’s threatened. She always has my back. “No need. He had to go to his business meeting. He’s coming back soon.”

“Oh… so when you said he was flying to Vegas for business, he really meant business. Not getting down to business.” She smirks.

I giggle. “That’s coming later.”

“I hope you’ll be coming later too.”

I choke out a laugh. “You’re too much.”

“Remember, I want details.”

“No.” I roll my eyes. “The reason why I’m calling is to show you this.” Flipping the camera around, I scan the room, then bring it back around so I can see Sally.

“Are you in a boutique?” She frowns with confusion.

Plopping down on the edge of the bed, I pick up the silk negligee. “You’d think so with all these clothes. I’m in his hotel suite.”

Sally’s eyebrows disappear into her hairline. “All that is for you?”

“Yep.”

“Are you having a Pretty Woman moment?”

“That’s what I said.” We are so different in many ways, yet sometimes it’s like sharing the same brain.

“He’s not paying you, is he?”

I narrow my eyes. “Sally, of course not.”

“I’d take a few of those dresses if I were you.” She grins.

I grin back. “It’s tempting. What do you make of all this?”

“He really likes you, and maybe it’s more than sex?”

I run the silk fabric through my fingers. “He made it clear it’s casual.”

“I know we talked about this, but are you sure you’re okay with that?”

“Why wouldn’t I be?”

“You’re not a sex without some feeling kind of girl.”

“Well, I am now. It’s the year of trying something new, remember?”

Sally smiles. “It sure is. You can tick ‘having sex with a hot, sexy guy’ off your list.”

“That definitely was not on my list. Besides, it hasn’t happened yet.”

“It will. I’d tell you to record the event, but I don’t think you’re kinky enough for that.”

I hear a deep chuckle in the background.

“Who’s that?” I ask, surprised. She has a man in her bed, and we’re talking about my sex life.

“What?” Sally pulls a confused expression.

“Who did I hear laugh?”

“Me?” Her eyes widen with innocence.

“Since when do you laugh like a man? Who’s in your bed?”

“No one?”

“I know when you’re lying.”

Sally’s shoulders slump. “I brought a guy home from the club.”

“A guy? What happened to Evan? I thought he was giving you a ride home.”

“Oh… umm… yeah, that was the plan. But we went our separate ways.”

I frown. “I don’t like that he left you with a stranger.”

“I made sure I let him know I got home safe.”

“Oh, okay. Why didn’t you tell me you had company? I wouldn’t have wasted your time and discussed my sex life in front of a stranger. I could’ve called you back tomorrow.”

Sally waves a dismissive hand. “You can never waste my time. And I love talking about your sex life. It’s about time it’s getting spicy.”

“I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“I’m wishing you the best sex of your life.” Sally beams.

I roll my eyes and shake my head. “Same to you.”

She giggles and winks. “Oh… it has been.”

After hanging up, nerves wrack through my body. The pressure of the night is consuming me. I have such high expectations, but what if it’s bad?

What if I’m bad?
