CHAPTER 19 #2
“As you can see, Damián can speak to anyone he wants, any way he wants,” Oliver says, staring Aurelio down. “Now I suggest you shut the fuck up and continue the meeting before I ask him to stab you, and anyone who takes your place, until we find a more agreeable boss for your shit-level group.”
Pfsss! Shit-level group, I laugh internally because, wow!
My man is a savage.
Aurelio mumbles something I can’t hear, but he waves his hand, and a lawyer-looking man walks over with a briefcase and opens it on the table next to us.
“After you,” the idiot tells Oliver, and we both follow.
As soon as we sit down at one of the clean tables, the rest of the meeting goes as planned.
Oliver agrees to the exportation routes, making sure to extract as much from Aurelio as possible.
That way, when the raid finally starts, there won’t be a jury in the world that will doubt their guilt, ensuring they all rot in jail for the rest of their lives.
Four hours later, we’re in the back of an SUV headed to the Four Seasons, and the ride is suffocatingly… strange.
Oliver is unusually quiet, staring out the window, his hand resting far away from mine.
Maybe he is just tired, I tell myself.
But after we reach the hotel and walk past the lobby toward the elevators, I know, without a doubt, that something is wrong with Ollie.
He can’t even look me in the eyes.
As we wait for the elevator, I am flooded by a terrible sense of dread. Oliver’s deepest trauma comes from watching his father execute a man right in front of him.
Dios, no…
What if I just forced him to relive that?
He didn’t see what I saw. He didn’t see the slashed tattoo, the scorn in the man’s eyes, or how the other guards were eyeing Aurelio.
As far as Oliver knows, I just put a bullet in the head of an innocent family man without a second thought.
What if he looks at me and sees his father?
What if he leaves me?
No… I need to explain to Ollie what happened.
I need to tell him I’m nothing like Elijah.
My hands start to shake as we step out of the elevator on our floor. The closer we get to the room, the dizzier I feel.
Damn it… What the hell is happening?
I have never felt this level of panic.
It’s soul-crushing and consuming.
Finally, in front of the room, Oliver takes the keycard out and opens our door, and we both step inside.
The second the door clicks shut, I pull Oliver into a hug full of desperation.
“I’m so sorry, mi cielo. I swear the man wasn’t a family man. He was one of them, and I had to do it, or else you would have been—”
Oliver silences me by pressing his lips against mine, and my body and mind immediately relax.
“I know,” he whispers against my mouth.
I freeze, pulling back just enough to look at him. “You know?”
“I recognized him from one of the times I joined my father.”
“…You’re not mad at me?”
“No.”
“But you’re acting strange.”
Oliver looks at the floor. “Why did you do it? Why did you kill him?”
“There was a guard to your left waiting to shoot you if you hesitated.”
“So… you were forced to kill a man… because I hesitated.”
“No. They were forcing you to kill him. I chose to take their power away,” I tell him, gently cupping his face in my hands until he finally looks at me. “I couldn’t let you carry the burden of taking a life, and I don’t care what I have to do. I won’t let Rafael break you, Oliver.”
“So this means he knows.”
“I’m not sure exactly what Rafael knows, but yes. He suspects something, and I think this was his sick way of testing you.”
Oliver closes his eyes, and I can feel the remaining adrenaline drain out of his body. His shoulders slump, and tears finally spill over, tracking down his cheeks.
“Hey, no, no, hermoso,” I murmur, pulling him against my chest and burying my face in his hair. “We’re okay, and this is almost over. Hold on just a little bit longer because we’re almost there, and you’ve done so well. So damn well.”
“Dami…” he breathes.
“?Sí, mi cielo?”
“Distract me,” he pleads, his hands clinging to my arms.
“Tell me how. I’ll do anything.”
“Make me think of absolutely nothing but you.”
“Ollie,” I say, covering his face in small kisses. “I don’t want you to push yourself when your feelings aren—”
Oliver fists his hands in my hair and yanks me close, pressing a frantic kiss to my neck. His teeth graze my earlobe before he groans, “Get inside me, Damián.”
With that, all of the little restraint I had evaporates.
I hold his face with both hands, angle his beautiful jaw, and crash my lips against his. I back him up until his spine hits the wall of the suite, and he gasps.
I devour him.
I swallow the sound, my tongue pushing past his lips, tasting his mouth. He kisses me back with the same hunger I feel, and I love it.
“Damián,” he whimpers against my mouth.
“I’m right here,” I breathe, dragging my lips down his jawline to bite his neck. “I’ve got you.”
My fingers curl into the fabric of his shirt, and I pull hard, popping the buttons free. I slide my hands across his bare chest, trailing my lips down his skin, and kiss his pec, sucking hard enough to leave a mark.
Turns out, I absolutely love hickeys and marks.
Well, only if they’re mine on his body… or his on mine.
Oliver’s hands are clumsy and trembling as they yank at my belt, trying to undo the buckle. His knuckles brush against my stomach, and I groan.
Fuck, I love this man’s touch so much.
I grind my hips against his. “What do you want, mi cielo?”
“I want you inside me,” Ollie begs, his voice breaking as he finally frees the buckle.
I grab him by the hips and lift him off the floor. Oliver wraps his legs around my waist, his arms locking around my neck, and I carry him to the bed.
“And Dami—” He stretches his body out on the bed, looks up at me with the most delicious fuck-me face, and licks his lips. “Don’t be gentle.”
So I do exactly what my man wants.
