Chapter 16 #3

Finn got two good handfuls of her ass and squeezed, fingers biting into her skin as he rocked her against him, dragging her core against the thick muscle of his thigh. Her head fell back, the air in her throat catching, her vision sharpening with unnatural clarity.

“Gorgeous,” he praised, staring down at her, lids half-mast. “Is this what you wanted?” He jerked her tighter against him, grinding her down on his thigh. “To come like this? Rubbing your sweet little pussy on my thigh?”

A bolt of heat ran through her, her cunt clenching, his words filthy and perfect as he stared at her like he wasn’t sure whether he wanted to wreck her or worship her.

“No.” She shook her head and tilted her hips, trying to urge him to touch her the way she wanted. “I want your fingers. I want them inside me.”

“Greedy.” His voice was fond, and it was the first time she didn’t feel immeasurable guilt at the word.

“For you,” she told him breathily, shivering when his fingers ghosted against her through the lace gusset of her underwear. “Always.”

Finn gave her a soft look, rewarding her with a kiss that curled her toes.

“I like you greedy,” he murmured against her mouth, his fingers sliding her underwear aside, dragging up her slit, making her shudder, the ache inside her intensifying.

“Feels good to know I’m not the only one.

” He huffed a soft laugh against her mouth.

“Was worried I was losing my mind. I think about you all the goddamn time. How to make you smile, how to make you happy. I want to make you so fucking happy, Effie.”

Her heart squeezed. “Finn.”

Rough fingertips made tight circles around her clit, the thread inside her winding tighter.

“I think about other things, too,” he confessed, his voice dropping. “Touching you. Tasting you. Fuck, I want to taste you so bad, baby.”

“Please,” she begged, her need for him reaching fever pitch. “I want—”

His lips closed around the lobe of her ear, his teeth nipping. “I know what you want. Be patient and let me give it to you.”

“Patient?” She choked on a breathless laugh. “You don’t get to lecture me about—”

Finn sank a thick finger inside her, and her breath hitched.

He smiled against the side of her throat. “You were saying?”

Was she? She couldn’t remember. For the first time in a long time, her brain was quiet.

No worries, no doubts. Her head was filled with nothing but the loud, percussive roar of her heartbeat, which sounded almost like thunder rolling in the distance, Finn’s name the only word she could remember as he cupped her cunt, adding another finger, dragging them both nearly all the way out before sinking in deep.

“Fuck.” Magic crackled in her veins, pressure building inside her like a rising storm. She panted out a harsh gasp and clung to him, her arms around his shoulders, breasts smashed against his bare chest, as she ground against his hand with a mewl.

Finn grazed his teeth against the side of her throat, his breath ghosting against her skin, swearing under his breath when her thighs started to tremble, her chest heaving, her walls fluttering around his fingers as she arched against him.

“Christ, that’s it.” His voice was ragged, wrecked, his lips brushing a kiss against her neck. He rocked the heel of his hand against her harder, and a desperate keen clawed its way up her throat. “Come on, baby. Let me feel it.”

A crack of lightning stole across the platinum-colored sky, a clap of thunder right on top of it.

Close. She was so close. She could feel it in her chest, the way the air around her vibrated like a taut string plucked, how, for a brief moment, the whole world seemed to hold its breath as if it knew that she was right there, that any second now she was going to tumble and fall.

Finn knew it, too. With a determination that bordered on desperation, the likes of which she was well acquainted with, he ground his palm against her, rubbing the pads of his fingers against a spot inside her that sent her tumbling over the edge, the strong arm banded around her waist the only thing keeping her upright, her knees giving out as she pulsed around his fingers.

She hadn’t even stopped shaking when another peal of thunder rent the air, a rumble so fierce she could feel it in her bones.

Curious, she turned her face up to the now-charcoal sky, the clouds dark and dense, hanging ominously low.

She flinched as a drop of rain hit her forehead.

Another hit her cheek. Finn stared up at the sky with the same curious expression she probably wore, his mouth opening like he was about to speak when the heavens opened with another crack and rain began pelting them in sheets.

Lightning lit the sky, and she barely had time to mourn the loss of his fingers before Finn was dragging her out of the water and toward the back of the grotto where their clothes were and where the rain—and lightning—couldn’t quite reach because a bedrock overhang shielded them from the worst of the storm.

It was strange how the weather had changed so dramatically, within minutes. It was almost unnatural, almost—

Supernatural.

Effie stared straight ahead, her face hot. From the corner of her eye, she could see Finn peering at her curiously.

He cleared his throat. “Did you do—”

“Shut up.”
