CHAPTER SIXTEEN

ATHENA

Even with Damon’s hand covering my mouth, I found it almost impossible to keep quiet. Moans and whimpers bubbled up in my throat, finding their way out between his fingers. I gripped the counter so tight my hands ached.

This was not what I had expected when I came here tonight. Even when I saw him, I never imagined we would end up here. Fucking in Codie’s main floor bathroom.

Our eyes were locked together through the mirror. Damon watched me intently as he fucked me from behind. Powerful thrusts that kept me pinned against the counter, digging into my abdomen from the force.

Of course he knew that I’d been playing with him all along. I didn’t care about the guy outside, although I felt terrible that Damon had hurt him because of me. He hadn’t deserved that. Not for a moment had I expected Damon to snap. His unpredictability proved both exciting and terrifying.

Now he had me locked in a bathroom while he railed me like a madman. I couldn’t help but fucking love it. His wildness set free a part of me I hadn’t realized had been trapped. As if his give no shit attitude allowed me to feel the same. There was something so refreshing about this sensation.

There was no disguising the sound of our bodies slapping together. Anyone who came to the door would know exactly what was going on in here. If he hadn’t currently been inside me, I would’ve been embarrassed at the thought. Right then I never wanted it to end.

When my knees began to shake in an effort to stay upright, Damon withdrew long enough to spin me around. He lifted me up onto the counter, stepping between my thighs as he entered me again.

This time we were face to face. Unbearably close.

The intimacy of our position left me spun, forcing myself to meet his eyes even though I wanted to look away.

To keep him from seeing inside me. Having him claim such ownership of my body made me fear that he would somehow break down the walls I used to keep him from getting too close.

There was no way I could ever love a man like Damon Price.

As he moved between my legs, he slid a hand up my neck to tightly clutch my chin.

Holding me with a firm hand as he brought his lips to mine.

Our tongues meeting in a devilish dance.

There was no seizing control from Damon no matter how hard I tried.

He seemed to always be a step ahead of me, anticipating my every move.

Like he was inside my head, he seemed to sense the rise of my orgasm. Rolling his hips just right to hit my clit with every thrust. Increasing both his pace and pressure. Roughly fucking me until I thought surely I would pass out right there on my close friend’s bathroom counter.

“Think they know you’re getting fucked like the mouthy little brat you are?” Damon murmured against my lips before tugging the bottom one between his teeth.

I couldn’t have formed words if I wanted to. He deserved to hear what I thought of him. That he was an absolute menace. Someone I never wanted in my life. He was too messy. Too chaotic. Too much of everything I didn’t know I’d been missing, and that was simply too dangerous.

“You better hurry up and come on my cock so we can get back out there,” he whispered. “Wouldn’t want someone to come to the door looking for us. Unless you’d like to explain what’s going on in here.”

I was pretty sure everybody already knew what was going on in here.

Knowing my friends, I would have some explaining to do.

I couldn’t think about any of that right now.

My entire focus was on the way Damon managed to consume me completely.

Making me bury my face in his shoulder, biting down in an effort to keep my cries contained as I came.

He grunted from the pain of my bite yet quickened his pace. He liked it. I’d barely spilled over the edge when he came inside me. Filling me with warm spurts of cum. Reminding me that both times we’d fucked we had neglected to use anything.

I didn’t worry much about pregnancy since I had an IUD. However, I still went out of my way to be careful with the men I slept with. It wasn’t like me to be so reckless. This thing between us was wrong in every way. It needed to stop.

As soon as Damon released me and stepped away, my hand was in motion. I slapped him hard across the face. He jerked back, not expecting the blow.

“This shit needs to stop,” I said, seething with sudden rage. “You’re not good for me, Damon. I don’t like the person I am around you. I want you to leave me alone now.”

He stared at me for a long, tense moment before breaking into laughter. “That’s cute. It’s also not going to happen. You owe me, Athena.”

“Stop saying that.” I hopped down off the counter, pulling my skirt back into place. “I don’t owe you anything. I never asked for you to get involved with Andy. I never asked for any of this.”

Damon eyed me curiously as a red mark in the shape of my hand began to blossom on his cheek. “Didn’t you though? Your actions brought this all upon you. I may have taken advantage of an opportunity when it came my way but I didn’t get this ball rolling. You did.”

“It’s not my fault that some guys can’t handle rejection. I will not take the blame for that kind of bullshit. You and me are done. Get out.” I motioned for him to leave.

Since I didn’t feel right about leaving the washroom after what we’d done here, I got busy looking for some kind of cleaning supplies.

Damon stood there for several long moments, watching me squeeze some soap onto a piece of paper towel I found under the sink.

I pretended he wasn’t there as I wiped down the counter.

When I finished and he still hadn’t left, I pulled the door open and walked out.

Damon was right behind me. Lucky for me, he was quickly intercepted by Rebel who grabbed his arm and pulled him aside. My plan was to grab my purse and thank Codie for dinner before getting the hell out of there. My friends wouldn’t let me go so easily. They followed me outside to my car.

“All right, Athena, we need some answers,” Storm said, speaking for the group. “Is this a situation where we need to do an intervention, or should we be happy for you and mind our own business?”

“Mind our own business?” Ripley repeated, aghast at the thought. “This is Damon Price we’re talking about. The worst kind of bad news. He’s already dragged you into a dangerous situation. Aren’t you afraid that he’ll get you in some kind of serious trouble?”

I leaned against my car, a small Chevy sedan my parents had recently given me after they bought a new car for themselves. It wasn’t in my nature to dance around such questions or give half-truth answers. Instead, I opted for an honest response.

“A little bit yes. I was so scared that night when he set fire to the warehouse. At the same time, it was incredibly exciting. A total rush. I kind of enjoyed it.” My gaze wandered toward the house where I could see Rebel and Damon through the living room window.

Rebel’s expression was dead serious while Damon smirked.

“It doesn’t matter anyway. I told Damon that we’re done.

This messed up game he’s been playing with me is over. ”

My friends all exchanged a look with one another before Codie said, “Do you really expect him to accept that without a fight? He doesn’t strike me as the type.”

“I’ll probably have to move for work anyway. He’ll have no choice but to forget about me.” Shoving a hand through my hair, I looked up to the sky with a sigh. The sun had dropped down behind the houses, lighting up the evening with a soft glow.

Luna let out a little whine. “Aww, no, you can’t move away. It won’t be the same without you.”

“I’d rather not. At least not at this stage in my life. I may not have a choice.” Still watching Damon through the window, I thought that perhaps moving would be the only way I would escape him.

Unless he chased me down. It was obvious to me that Damon didn’t belong with the Graveyard Kings. He wasn’t really one of them. There was nothing keeping him here.

Storm pulled me into a hug. “Whatever you need to do, we’re all here for you.

Even if that means you keep seeing Damon, because whether you want to admit it or not, I know you, Athena, and I know there’s something about him you can’t resist. Just promise me that you won’t let him get you in over your head. ”

“No worries. I really am done with him. I have more important things to focus on.”

I meant it when I said it. However, as I drove away, I caught myself glancing back, hoping to catch a glimpse of Damon. His scent was all over me. The sensation of him an echo between my legs.

We barely knew each other. Everything I knew about him so far I hated except for the way he made me feel when I was with him. That wasn’t a good enough reason to continue this dangerous game.

I told myself that I was truly done with Damon. He wasn’t worth the risk. If I didn’t stand firm in this decision, there was no telling how deep into his world he would drag me.
