Chapter Five #3
“Not particularly, but you are having fun with your little plan, and it shows. Your ears are wiggling.”
She shrugged. “I know.” She finished the treat. “I thought you guys travelled in twos.”
“Not all of us. I don’t have a companion. I am looking for the other part of my triad, but the male is not a Dark Elite.”
“Oh. Tricky.” She brushed the crumbs off her fingers. “Does that mean they are something like me?”
“No, I don’t think so.” He smiled. “The draw is for something else.”
“Interesting. Are you here to consult a seer?”
He grinned, and his sharp teeth flashed. “That is exactly why I am here.”
She nodded. She heard footfalls and shrugged. It was a Dark Elite coming into the kitchen.
The man turned and smiled at them, and then he saw her. “Lesser djinn?”
She smiled. “Giant butthead?”
He frowned while Tekumi laughed.
Ax shrugged. “I thought we were just guessing.”
The man grinned. “Hello, little djinn. I am Avor.”
“Great. I am Ax.”
Tekumi grinned. “He’s the king. The mate of Regis.”
“Oh. She’s a good cook. You are lucky.”
Avor stared at her. “Thank you. I know I am. Our daughter is also spectacular.”
“Cool. How old is she?”
“Ten, turning eleven in a few weeks.”
Ax grinned. “I have a niece the same age. Eleven is great.”
Avor nodded. “It is. She’s so smart it makes my head spin.”
“Yeah, they are scary and adorable at the same time.”
He walked over and extended his hand to her. Ax reached up, and they didn’t spark, but his energy pushed at hers and didn’t get far.
His eyes widened. “I see.”
“I am glad. I wouldn’t stand a chance with arm wrestling.”
Avor paused and then grinned. “Fair enough. Your kind was not supposed to exist yet.”
“Yeah, I am hearing that a lot.”
“You have family locally?”
“Yes. Two brothers, who both have children, and one younger sister. My parents are still around as well.” She smiled. “Family is important, and I consume a lot of birthday cake. My family now monitors consumption.”
Tekumi smiled. “She’s sugar sensitive.”
“Ah. Yes, that does happen among djinn, but Tekumi would know better than I would.”
She looked at the man in question. “I thought you were a little lithe for one of the battle elves. The way you move reminds me of my sister.”
Tekumi raised a brow. “Really?”
“Yeah. She’s the omega in the family. She keeps scaring alphas away, and the Omega Centre is pulling their hair out.” Ax grinned. “The family is so proud.”
Avor asked, “Is she similar to you?”
“Same development? Yup. But she looks like liquid sex when she moves around. Heads turn, alphas stammer, betas lock up, and she just gets her junk food and leaves. Then, we giggle.”
Avor chuckled. “I see. Is your sister available to come for a visit?”
“How fast?”
He paused. “When she can arrive here.”
“Cool. Cool.” She got her phone out and sent Hatcher an invitation.
There was a glow in the room, and then Hatcher stood there, holding her phone. “And send.”
Ax’s phone lit up with Yippee in the text field.
Tekumi stared. Avor stared. Regis ran in. “What the hell was that?”
Hatcher wiggled her fingers at her. “Hello. I am Ax’s sister.”
Regis blinked, and Avor hugged her. “Love. I asked Ax to invite her sister. I didn’t know she had mastered porting.”
Hatcher said, “I am sorry. I can feel the protections now. I... they don’t mean much.”
Ax covered her smirk. Tekumi was still staring.
Even dressed normally and not tall, Hatcher was gorgeous.
Her curves were just enough. Legs long, hair in amazing condition to her waist and a beautiful blue-black, and her eyes were a jade green.
She was stunning and still wrestled with her nephews, went on junk food raids, and volunteered at seniors’ homes.
She was also an award-winning interior designer, but that was just her occupation.
Right now, she was dressed in a simple cotton dress but still looked like she was magazine cover ready.
Ax grinned. “My sister is a fairy tale princess, and she can belch the alphabet with our nephews.”
Hatcher smiled. “A skill I am proud of.”
Regis looked at her. “You are... you are a djinn?”
Hatcher grinned. “Is that what we are? Makes sense. Nephews are going to be happy.” As she spoke, she took on her djinn form. Dark silver skin, gold eyes, gold hair. Her dress grew with her as she got to six foot four.
She smiled. “Your Majesties, congratulations on reuniting.”
Everyone in the room stared. Ax snorted. “Oh, did I mention? She’s a seer. That is the part that freaks out the alphas. They don’t even know about the belch alphabet.”
Avor said, “You are a seer, but you didn’t know you are a djinn?”
“No one ever says it in my visions. It makes sense though.” She touched her teeth. “All my family has the double canines as well.”
Avor groaned. “I need to talk to Vemel.”
Regis grinned. “Bring him here. I don’t mind. Asel might help as well.”
Avor nodded and lifted his phone. “Themak will be with them.”
Regis nodded. “Have them arrive outside. That was... a lot.”
Avor frowned and nodded, kissed his wife, and headed outside.
Hatcher blinked. “I am so sorry, when I normally run into wards, they are attached to Stronghold Elite. I just go through them.”
Regis asked, “The wards or the Elite?”
Hatcher grinned, showing her pointy teeth. “Yes.”
Regis laughed, and Tekumi looked wary. Ax was just happy she wasn’t alone in the new palace.
