Chapter 30

C H A P T E R

THE SOUND OF MORNING TRAFFIC USUALLY ROUSED HONEY FROM HER SLEEP with the constant blaring horns and occasional shouts from people with road rage, which was expected, but this time she woke with a headache.

She groaned as she sat up and massaged her temples.

She hadn’t felt this way since her friend’s bachelorette party.

She frowned, wondering why she felt this way when suddenly everything came back to her— Nikos coming to her place to celebrate.

Her mouth dropped, realizing she had sex with Nikos Drakos last night.

She snapped her head to her left and saw that Nikos was in her bed, a place she thought she would never allow him to be in.

She wanted to blame it on the liquor, telling herself that it was the only reason she had done something like that.

But if she were being honest with herself, she knew it wasn’t the truth.

She hadn’t been that drunk. But the alcohol had definitely released her inhibitions, and she had given into something that had been slowly brewing inside her over the past few months— her attraction to Nikos.

She didn’t like to think about it and could barely admit it to herself, but over the course of their time spent together, she had come to like Nikos more and more.

When she first met him, she thought it hadn’t been possible.

It didn’t matter how cute he was or the stories the other girls at the club would tell her about their late-night escapades with him.

All she could think about was how troublesome and arrogant he was.

But now that she knew him better, things were different.

He was still annoying, still arrogant, and yet…

Honey quickly shook the thought away.

Before she could shove him awake, Nikos groaned, stretching his limbs and giving her a view of his muscular body that he had used to pick her up and fuck her seven different ways to Sunday.

She had never experienced so many orgasms in one night, and she could still remember how good it felt to have his face in it.

Now she understood why all the girls at the club were going crazy over Nikos.

Unfortunately, she had to admit that he was good at it.

Nikos sat up, still stretching without noticing her there. He let his arms drop, and when his right arm accidentally hit her leg, he noticed her. Nikos’s blue eyes collided with hers and blinked with realization before a sly grin appeared on his face that gave her chills.

“You look even more beautiful in the morning,” Nikos said cheekily, his voice thick with sleep, and somehow his words still managed to make her heart flutter.

Honey knew what she should say, but right now, she was at a loss for words, and all she could see was Nikos’s blue eyes that stared into her own, luring her in.

She felt like she was trapped, and though she wanted to break this moment, she couldn’t.

All she could do was watch as Nikos leaned forward, and as if someone had cast a spell on her, she was frozen without the ability to move, even though it was clear what he would do.

She knew she should stop him, so she could nip everything into bud and come to an agreement with him that they would treat last night like what it was— a one-off, a random moment of drunken lust never to be spoken of again.

But though she wanted to say that, her words eluded her as Nikos came within an inch of her lips, ready to kiss her, but just as his lips brushed hers, she heard her front door open.

Her eyes popped open, and she hadn’t even realized she had closed them.

She popped out of bed, dragging the sheets along with her.

“Oh shit,” she said, realizing her sister had already returned with Kai. She glanced at the clock, realizing it was near the afternoon, and she had completely overslept.

“Get dressed,” she told Nikos as she searched for their clothes on the bed and floor, and when she didn’t see them, she quickly went over to her closet and snagged a pair of pants and a shirt.

She slipped her pants on and was in the process of clipping on her bra when something grazed her back, and she nearly jumped out of her skin.

She glanced over her shoulder and was surprised to see Nikos standing so close behind her that she could feel his breath touching her neck.

“I’ll help you,” he said as his hands slipped up her waist to the center of her back, raising goosebumps along her skin.

Last night, he had told her that she was seduction itself, but now, she could say the same to him because he was clearly trying to do so at this moment.

He easily snapped her bra together but didn’t move from behind her.

“Honey,” he said her name softly, and she felt her stomach somersault in a way it hadn’t done since she was in high school. Not being able to take it anymore, she pushed him back before slipping her shirt on.

“You need some clothes,” Honey said, remembering what her mission was as she dug into the bottom of her closet and grabbed some of her ex’s clothes.

Now she was glad she had never gotten around to throwing them away.

Otherwise, Nikos would have to wear her clothes, and she was positive she didn’t have anything in here that he could fit.

“Here. Put these on,” she instructed with urgency. She could already hear Kai and Olivia talking, and it wouldn’t be long before they came and looked for her.

“You have a lot of clothes from your ex,” Nikos commented as he took them.

Honey paused, thrown off by his words because though he said it in his usual teasing, joking manner, there was also a tinge of jealousy there that was very unexpected from him because Nikos did not seem like the type to be possessive or jealous, especially over a girl he wasn’t even in a relationship with.

Before she could voice her thoughts, she heard footsteps closing in on her door. Her eyes widened, and she mouthed to Nikos to put the clothes on.

“Mommy,” Kai exclaimed as he grabbed the doorknob, and Honey panicked.

“Don’t open the door because I’m getting dressed, honey. But I’ll be out in a minute,” she said.

“Okay,” Kai said, and she only sighed with relief when she heard him walk away.

Nikos put the sweatpants and shirt on, and she went to the mirror on the wall to fix her hair, which was a complete mess.

As she plucked her curls, Nikos came behind, fully dressed, wrapping his arms around her waist and plopping his chin on her shoulder.

He looked at her through the mirror, and she froze in her movements, lost in his gaze and surprised that he was touching her so intimately, even if they did have sex together last night.

“We should talk,” he said seriously, and for once, he was saying something she could actually agree with. Honey removed his arms from her waist and spun around, giving him her full attention.

“Last night—”

“—was really good,” Nikos said, and Honey rolled her eyes at how arrogant he sounded, which seemed to amuse Nikos. But, unfortunately, she couldn’t disagree with him on that either because it had been really good. Very good, actually.

“It was,” she admitted, and Nikos smirked, but what she said next wiped that smirk right off his face.

“But it won’t happen again.”

“But I think it should,” Nikos argued, winking at her, and Honey chuckled because if he thought this was up for negotiation, he was crazy. She had already made up her mind the moment she woke up this morning. No sly words or mischievous winks would get her to change her mind.

“And I think it shouldn’t happen again, and it won’t,” Honey said, emphasizing her last words, but Nikos did not seem deterred as he crowded her space, and her back bumped against her mirror as she tried to place distance between them.

“It won’t?” he questioned, mere inches away from her lips as his blue eyes searched into hers. She tried to act like his closeness wasn’t affecting her, but she was pretty sure the sound of her rapidly beating heart was giving her away. “Why is that?”

“Because…because…”

Her words were eluding her, and though she had many reasons why they shouldn’t do it again, she couldn’t think of any of them with him this close to her. So, she tried to find that reason before she found herself rolling around the sheets with him again when she heard a knock on her door.

“Hope,” her sister called, and Honey quickly sidestepped Nikos before she went over to the door and locked it. The last thing she needed was for her sister to see Nikos in her bedroom, though now that she thought about it, there was a reason she couldn’t find Nikos’s clothes.

“I’ll be out in a second,” Honey said.

“Okay,” Olivia said, and Honey didn’t like the hint of sarcasm in her sister’s tone but made no mention of it. When she heard her sister walk away, she turned her attention to Nikos, with her mind clear now that she wasn’t near him anymore.

“Let’s go out now,” Honey told him. There was no point in hiding him in her room. There was no way she would be able to sneak him out, either. She would just have to let this situation pass over smoothly so she would never have to think about it again.

Honey didn’t wait for his word and unlocked her door, taking a deep breath before she stepped out with a forced smile that instantly melted into a real one when she saw her son, who automatically raced over from the couch to hug her.

“Mommy!” Kai exclaimed as he squeezed her tight.

“Did you have a good time?” Honey asked.

“Yes! We had lots of fun! We played games until midnight, and we had pizza, and we…” Kai’s words trailed off when he noticed Nikos over her shoulder, and a bright smile appeared on his face.

“Nik!” Kai yelled before he raced over and jumped in Nikos’s arm, who immediately picked him up and swung him around. Kai giggled, and Nikos laughed too.

“Hey, kid.”
