Chapter 13
Chapter Thirteen
Sheridan
I climbed into Jasper’s hot pickup. He rolled down the windows, and I stuck an arm out, nearly getting burned by the interior that had been baking in the July sun.
I didn’t quite look like a drowned rat, but the ends of my hair were curling in large clumps as they dried.
The sun was strong enough that I wasn’t chilly, and I only wrapped my beach towel around myself instead of pulling my shorts and shirt back on.
After we had cooled ourselves off in the water, we sunned on the beach like nothing had happened.
Relaxed but with a different tension in the air.
An…anticipation. I had sifted through my brain for something to talk about that wasn’t asking him to continue telling me exactly what he’d do to me, but Jasper dozed. Solved that problem.
What would I have rambled on about? The weather?
I told him the color of my nipples! I wasn’t built for playing it cool.
My brothers called me a sweet summer child, and it hadn’t been a compliment.
There hadn’t been any fondness. Naive and always needing a rescue.
Jasper wasn’t doing that. Messing around with him was my decision. He was along for the ride.
I had made my decision, but that turned out to be the easy part. When? Where? He’d covered the how. Then he’d gotten a text from his brother, Alder, asking him to watch the kids while he and Daisy went out of town in an hour to help her mom. Uncle duty.
Wind whipped through the cab as he drove. My disappointment could choke me, but there was a relief there. I wouldn’t have to decide how over the line I was or if I’d jump further across it.
“Did you have fun?” he asked.
“I needed the sun and fresh air. You?”
“Until the kids arrived, I was having a great time.”
When he talked about me and how much he enjoyed touching me and looked forward to doing more, I felt like I won the guy lottery. Were men really this into their women? Or had I just picked some duds?
He parked in front of the garage at my mom’s place, backing in so my door was closest to the porch.
“Front step service. Nice.” I put my hand on the handle to get out, but I didn’t open it. Just a few more moments. He had to get going, yet I wasn’t ready for it to end.
“Wait. I can do better.” He hopped out and trotted around to the other side.
His hair was shoved off his head and a dried lock had fallen over part of his brow.
Without a shirt, he looked like a beach bum, but I knew how hard he worked.
Awareness tingled through me, filling my limbs with a drugged achiness.
He opened the door. “There. Front door service.”
I swung my legs around, but he didn’t back up. As much as I liked him there, he was the one who had somewhere to be. “You’ve gotta let me out.”
Tension stroked across his face, and his biceps bulged from gripping the frame of the door. “I’ve got some time.”
“Oh?” He’d said it wasn’t for an hour, but he had to clean up.
“Yeah, boss.” He dropped his hands to my thighs and pushed up. “I’d like to live up to what I was talking about earlier.”
“Oh.” My mouth went dry, and I scanned the area. We were mostly blocked from the view of the road, the house providing some privacy. We could go inside, but that’d take time. It’d break this spell between us. “Now?”
“I feel like I’ve been waiting forever, Sheridan.” He leaned in, his rough hands sliding higher. “Can I taste you?”
My whole body quivered. Answer. Don’t think and answer. “Yes.”
A slow grin spread across his face, stretching those lips I would be putting mine on wide.
He claimed my mouth, then tugged my towel open.
Without the flimsy fold-over clasp, the material fell apart.
The air-conditioning of the pickup wafted over me.
Shivers dotted my skin, but I wound my arms around his neck. This was finally happening.
Oh god. Was this really happening?
He pulled back enough to cup my face. “Don’t overthink. Just feel.”
Okay. My brain glitched out. He swept his tongue inside, finding mine, and drew me into a dance I’d never thought I’d done well before. It’d been the partner, not me.
Just like he said he would, he kissed his way down my neck, his hot breath searing my throat.
I arched into him when he reached my breasts.
A growl ripped from him when he hit the fabric of my swimsuit.
He lifted his head. His gaze was feral. Dark eyes, hard jaw, longing painted on every plane of his jaw.
He unhooked my arms. “Lean back, Sheridan. I don’t have much time, and I don’t want any more delays.”
My body answered before he even finished his question. He made another guttural sound and yanked my straps down to nearly my elbows. My boobs stayed mostly contained. He narrowed his eyes, and the calloused tips of his fingers brushed my skin when he jerked the top down.
I sucked in a breath. I was exposed, and his head was right there.
“Dusty rose,” he said softly. “Just like you said.”
He lowered his mouth to a nipple, and I watched my flesh disappear between his lips.
I dropped my head back. It was like his tongue was a live wire.
Every time it stroked over my tight bud, electricity filled me.
With nowhere to go, it built inside me, pushing out on my skin like it was too tight.
If we’d done this in the lake, I’d have created a tidal wave when I exploded.
He switched to the other nipple. I cradled him with my legs. We were skin on skin. Only the rest of my suit and his trunks were between us.
The console dug into my back, so I gripped the cupholder with one hand and the headrest of the passenger seat with the other.
“Spread your legs farther,” he said roughly, backing up.
My stomach filled with butterflies, but I did as he asked.
The ever-present insecurity lifted its pesky head. Should I shower first? What would he think? “I’m— The lake…”
“A little lake water isn’t stopping me.” He didn’t peel my swimsuit down. Instead, he rimmed his fingers under the hem at my hip.
I almost jackknifed off the seat. He lifted a brow as if he was asking if he could continue.
“I’m nervous.” But I sounded needy.
“Then I’m not doing it right.” He slid his fingers closer to the apex of my thighs.
“No, you are.” I was crawling out of the seat. “You’re just so…potent.”
The corner of his mouth tipped up. “You think so?”
His fingers were right over my pussy, pulling the material away from my skin. He wasn’t touching me, but I vibrated like that energy in him was coursing through to me. “Yes?”
“What else?” He brushed a knuckle through my seam.
My moan was loud. “Hot. You’re so hot.”
“Yeah? Keep talking.” He bent more, his head between my thighs like he’d said.
“Um…” I licked my lips. “You’re really good with your mouth.”
“Wait until you see this.” He pushed the suit aside and licked right to my clit.
“Oh my god.” I braced myself to keep from hitting the driver’s door or clamping his head so hard he’d pass out, and I did not want this to end. “Jasper.”
He lapped at me until I gasped for breath. I yanked at the cup holder, taut from head to toe, fighting the onslaught of ecstasy coming only from his tongue. The image we made was something I’d never forget. Broad daylight and his head between my thighs.
Just like he’d said in the water. “Oh my god.”
He grunted his approval, and I relaxed into him, rocking in time with the rhythm he set. Higher and higher I climbed.
“Jasper!”
I cried out, and it echoed through the cab. Waves of pleasure swept me under until I was writhing, clutching at parts of the interior, at his head, at nothing. “Yes!”
Sounds came out of me that I would overthink later, but right now I had to finish this ride. When I crested and floated down, my heartbeat turned steady again. I collapsed in the most uncomfortable position ever.
He didn’t pull away or resituate my swimsuit. “You’re beautiful everywhere. Look at you so wet and greedy for me.”
An after tremor rocked me. “You’re unreal.”
This wasn’t the roll-off-me situation and go-to-sleep experience I’d had in the past, nor was it a quickie that left me hanging. Wait— “What about you?”
He righted my suit and pushed back. “What about me?”
His erection strained against his green trunks. The waistband was getting pushed out, and if I peeked harder than I was, I’d probably see the tip of his cock.
“That. I can, you know—” I winced. What was I? Five? I could say it. “I can give you a blow job.”
He stilled, his gaze holding mine. He was rigid from head to toe. “Hell, Sheridan, you’re going to destroy my uncle game by making me late.” He gave me a kiss, brief and closed-mouth. Regret weighed heavily in his features as he took a step back. Then another.
I was still sprawled across his passenger seat. I sat up, closing my legs. “Did I say something wrong?”
“No. Those moans coming out of you are going to stay with me.” He hitched up his trunks, and there went my chances of seeing his hard-on. “I’ve gotta go, but we’re picking this up later.”
He held out his hand to help me out. I climbed down, and as soon as my feet hit the concrete of my driveway, he pushed me against the pickup and smashed his mouth to mine once again. I tasted the salty sweetness of me mixed in with him.
Another spark ignited in my belly. When could we do this again?
As if reading my mind, he broke the kiss and stepped away like he was afraid we’d start over again. “Soon, Sheridan. When I’m off uncle duty, you and me. That’s a promise.”
Jasper
I steered the riding lawn mower over the massive yard of Bishop’s Landing.
It’d been a week since I’d had Sheridan in my arms. Daisy and Alder had needed to be out of town longer than expected.
I told them not to worry. They still had day care for the kids during the weekdays, so I could work most of my usual hours.
But I didn’t have time to revisit what Sheridan and I had been doing before I was called to uncle duty.
