Chapter

GIO

Ifucked up.

I won’t say that I never fuck up because I do.

Shit happens, and I like to keep Matteo on his toes.

But what I don’t do is fuck up in a way where someone who isn’t supposed to see what I’m doing sees what I’m doing.

It was an easy job. I was in and out. The guy knew he had it coming.

He crossed too many lines, and Matteo was more than generous with the chances he gave him to make it right.

So after I took care of him, I had to cut off a body part to mail to his crew to send a message.

One of the delivery guys who delivers to the pizzeria takes my outgoing packages.

It’s never busy on Monday nights, so I figured I would be safe, except Enzo’s dumbass forgot to lock the front door and put up a sign.

Then she walked in.

She damn near took my breath away.

I’ve never seen hair so long before. It was down to her ass, and it was so dark and shiny.

All I could think about was running my fingers through it until I reached the final destination of where I could grab a handful.

From the way she was filling out those jeans, I knew it would have been more than a handful.

And those fucking eyes. They were a crystal-clear blue. I’ve never seen anyone with that color before. I felt like she was seeing into parts of my soul I had locked away. It made my brain short-circuit and forget how to act.

Hell, I forgot I was holding the fucking hand I cut off with a butcher saw not even an hour before.

I’m not sure which pissed me off more. The fact that she made me forget what I was doing, or the fact that she didn’t seem phased in the slightest at what she walked into. It’s hot as fuck that she didn’t cower.

I’m still trying to rack my brain about how I’m going to tell Matteo I let her walk out after witnessing that, only to then tell him, wait, it gets fucking worse. Not only did I let her walk out, but she fucking lives upstairs.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Matteo shoots me on the spot. I wouldn’t even be mad. I deserve it. I’ve been distracted on a job for the first time in my life, and it’s because of a girl.

What the fuck is wrong with me?

What’s more fucked is I wanted to put the hand away and make her a pizza while she lay down and took a load off because the woman looked whipped, but on the other hand, I’m also the sick fucking bastard whose dick got hard putting the look of fear in her eyes when she was on the stairs to the apartment.

I exhale heavily as I climb the brick steps to Matteo’s place and knock on the door. Better to come clean versus him finding out himself. He’s going to be mad either way, but me coming clean will probably save my balls.

I ring the doorbell, stick my hands in my pockets and roll up on the balls of my feet as I look around. I’m not waiting long before the front door opens, revealing Wren and my two-year-old niece, Viviana, hiding behind her leg.

“Hi, bella.” I smile at her as Wren steps aside, dragging Vivi with her. “Wren.” I nod.

“Hi, Gio,” Wren greets as she bends down to pick up Vivi. “Why are you being shy? You love your Uncle Gio.” She runs her hand down the back of her hair as Vivi hides her face in Wren’s chest. “Sorry,” Wren frowns. “It’s been a morning from hell with her. I think it’s about time for a nap.”

“I get it,” I say as I shrug. I don’t because I don’t have kids of my own, but I’ve seen the terror that is Vivi, and if I didn’t know for a fact Wren and Matteo are her parents, I might think she came from a demon. If she doesn’t get her way, all hell breaks loose. “Is he in his office?”

“Yup, he’s waiting for you. Try not to have too much fun.” She smirks as she walks away to put Vivi down.

Fucking great.

The door to Matteo’s office is open, and he’s sitting at his desk. I knock on the doorframe before stepping inside.

Matteo looks up from what he’s working on and leans back in his seat. “I was wondering when you were going to show up. I expected to hear from you last night. How did it go?”

Well, isn’t that a loaded fucking question, and the answer is probably going to get me a new asshole.

“As expected. He didn’t like that I showed up, thought it was cute to give me lip. It was a fun time.”

“Did you send a message?”

“His hand is en route to its final destination.”

Matteo nods his approval. “And the body?”

“Enzo and I dropped it off at the zoo. The lions had a nice dinner.”

“Good.” Matteo stands up and walks over to the bar cart and pulls the top off the crystal decanter, pouring us each a glass of whiskey. “Hopefully his crew receives the message. I’m getting too old for these fucking games.”

I snort as I take the glass from him. “You’ve never had patience for anyone undermining you. I’m surprised you gave him an extra chance.”

“Wren tries to make me give second chances,” Matteo says with disgust.

I don’t think there’s anything he wouldn’t do for her.

“Listen,” I start off, trying to ease into it.

“Oh, for fuck’s sake.” Matteo sighs as he sets his tumbler on his desk. “What did you do?”

I scratch the back of my head. “Well, you see, it isn’t exactly what I did; it’s more who saw what I did.”

“There was a witness last night, and you didn’t think to lead with that?” Matteo asks, his tone taking on a scary edge.

“I’m telling you now.”

“Gio,” Matteo growls.

“I don’t think it’s anything we need to worry about.” At least I fucking hope not.

“How about I decide that?”

“In my defense, I didn’t know who they were.”

Matteo’s brow raises. “In your defense? You don’t get a fucking defense.

This isn’t a democracy. Tell me you took care of them.

” I wince. I’m going to lose my balls. I really loved those boys.

“Jesus fucking Christ, Gio. You were born into this life. I didn’t think I would have to tell you to take care of a goddamn witness. ”

“She took me by surprise!”

“It just keeps getting worse,” Matteo groans as both of his elbows slam onto his desk while he massages his temples in frustration. “So you were distracted by some pussy.”

“Not exactly…” I trail off. How do I tell him I was distracted by her hair and eyes without sounding like a fucking idiot? I went to sleep thinking about those baby blues and woke up thinking about what they would look like staring up at me while my dick is in her mouth.

“What do you mean, not exactly?”

“Her hair was so shiny and long. I couldn’t stop thinking about touching it. And then, as soon as I got my mind back on track, I noticed her eyes. I’ve never seen that color blue before. I’m thinking they might have been contacts.”

“Wait.” Matteo holds up his hand, stopping me. “Are you talking about the woman who is renting the studio above the pizzeria?”

“Yes.” I smile slowly, trying to smooth over the blow of this fuck up.

“Jesus fucking Christ,” Matteo bites out. “Why can’t anything ever be easy with you?”

“It could have been worse.” I shrug. She could have seen me kill the guy, but she didn’t. That would have been a major health code violation.

“It could have been worse,” Matteo echoes, looking at me like I’ve lost my damn mind. “I want to know exactly what happened because I’m not understanding how she could have seen you do anything.”

“I forgot to lock the front door of the pizzeria when I brought the hand in. She came in wanting a slice of pizza and saw me holding the hand.”

“Unbelievable.” Matteo shakes his head. “And you just let her walk out?”

“I was stuck on her hair!” I exclaim before muttering, “And I didn’t know she was the one who rented the place upstairs.”

“How have you not seen her when you’re the one running the pizzeria?”

“Uh, because we have employees?” I shoot him a bewildered look. “I’m not running the fucking cash register.”

Matteo rubs a hand down his face. “You need to fix this. I don’t want her talking. We’re not in the business of hurting women, but if she runs her mouth, we may need to make an exception.”

I nod. “I’ll talk to her. What do you know about her?”

“Her name is Bronwyn. She works at AFK. From what I’ve gathered, she pretty much keeps to herself.

She didn’t ask many questions, and I wasn’t going to pry if she wasn’t forthcoming.

She seemed harmless. But now I’m regretting that because I didn’t think I would have her walking in on you holding a fucking hand. ”

Bronwyn.

A unique name for a mysterious girl.

“The video game store?” I ask to verify. I’ve driven by it all the time, but I’ve never been inside. I buy everything digital now.

Matteo nods. “Fix this. Pay her off. I don’t care how you do it. Just fucking fix it. I don’t need the headache of worrying about if she’s going to talk.”

“Yes, boss.” I down the rest of my glass before setting it down and move to leave.

I’m almost out of the room when Matteo speaks. “And Gio?” He waits for me to look over my shoulder at him. “Don’t fuck her. That’s an order.”

I have a feeling that’s going to be easier said than done.

I scan the alley as I slip the master key into the lock and turn it, this time making sure I don’t have a witness. I quietly slip inside, locking the door behind me.

I waited until she had left for work before I took matters into my own hands. I’m going to approach her, but I want to make sure that whatever she tells me is the truth, and I can’t know that unless I know what skeletons she has hiding in her closet.

I don’t know her, but weirdly enough, after seeing her for the short amount of time I did, this place looks like her.

Her furniture looks like fucking shit that should have been thrown out years ago.

But it’s clean, and the way she added decorations around the room makes it feel homey and not like you’re walking through a thrift store.

Her bed is covered in a black comforter with more pillows on it than I can count.

Jesus Christ, you can barely see the bed.

What the hell is the point of that? Makes me want to swipe them all off before throwing her on the bed and fucking her until she’s screaming my name loud enough for everyone in the pizzeria to hear.

Don’t fuck her. That’s an order.

I need to get my head in the game.

I open the single drawer in her nightstand, hoping to find nothing so I can report back to Matteo that she’s clean and we can pay her off and all will be well.

“What do we have here?” I mumble as I pull out a black velvet bag that’s sealed shut with a drawstring.

I toss it gently in my hand, testing the weight of it. It’s fucking heavy.

“What could you be hiding in here, Bronwyn?”

Curiosity gets the better of me as I stick my finger in the top of the bag, yanking it open before dumping the contents on the bed.

My brows raise and my dick twitches at the sight of all the neon colors standing out against the black comforter.

Bronwyn, you naughty girl.

Scattered across her bed lay five different sex toys.

I lean in. “Does that one have a fucking tongue?” I wonder out loud as I pick up the purple toy and press the on button. The toy starts vibrating in my hand as the fake tongue in the center moves back and forth in a licking motion.

My sweet cara, you need a real man’s tongue.

I hit the power button, turning it off.

Does this toy still taste like you?

I’m a sick fucking bastard as I bring the toy to my lips. My tongue darts out, circling around the fake one. A groan racks through me. It tastes like a mix of soap and the hint of what little of her she missed.

Fuck.

I look around the room as I stroke the soft silicone.

It’s stupid. I know I’m alone, but it’s a habit with the lifestyle I live to always watch my back.

With my free hand, I unzip my pants, letting them fall in a puddle around my ankles as I fist my throbbing cock.

I give it one long, hard stroke as I bring the toy to my lips once again.

Tasting the remnants of her sends pre-cum leaking out of the head of my dick.

Using my thumb, I circle the head, spreading the juices around using it as lube.

I increase my speed as I flick my tongue out, imagining the toy as Bronwyn’s pussy.

My grunts and groans echo throughout the room as my orgasm draws near.

My balls tighten and draw up as I start thrusting into my hand, cupping the head to capture my cum.

I grunt through it, spilling everything I have into my palm.

Fuck.

I throw the toy down on the bed as I pull up my pants one-handed and head toward the kitchenette. Turning on the faucet, I run my hand under the water and watch my cum float down the drain.

It should be all over her gorgeous body.

Don’t fuck her. That’s an order.

“Fuck!” I bite out as I lean against the counter with my palms flat against it. My head hangs as I gather myself.

I have a job to do. I know it would make things extremely fucking complicated to pursue anything with her. Matteo never said I couldn’t watch her, though.

Pushing off the counter, I open the fridge and see it mostly empty with the exception of random condiments and energy drinks.

Where the fuck is her food?

I almost feel guilty that I didn’t have a slice ready for her last night. Poor thing probably went to bed hungry, and we can’t have that.

I close the fridge door at the same time I pull my phone out.

“Yeah?” Matteo picks up after one ring.

“She’s clean.”

“Good. Don’t leave the pizzeria until you see her come home. Make her take the payoff, Gio.”

“Got it,” I say before Matteo hangs up.

Something tells me getting this woman to take money isn’t going to be easy, but first I need to get her some goddamn food.
