10. EMMA
Chapter ten
EMMA
I know I fucked up, but fuck he doesn't have to take my car away.
My car is the only thing that keeps me sane and keeps the side I never want to see come out.
Ace wasn't here when I was in school and started getting involved in the casino's with my father.
I was not a good girl. I would choke a bitch quick, for their shit, but then I saw that I was becoming someone I didn't want to be, so I did everything I could to get my shit together, and be better.
Maybe that is why I am so free spirited and hate when people tell me what to do, knowing that side of me is buried deep, but now, it's risen. And my blood is boiling.
I need to get some of this energy out before tonight or I will not be a very good person to be around, and I really need to make this right with Ace.
I know he is only trying to keep me safe, but why did all this all start when he got home? Did he really have to go that far by taking my car? Yeah he probably did, but I'm still pissed.
I get myself ready to play Queen tonight.
The life I never wanted, the life I tried to get away from, and I had my affairs in order, I was going to fall off the face of this earth and run away from this place when I went to the states races.
Leading everyone on to believe I was the good girl, taking over daddies company, but I‘d rather burn it all down and even more so now learning my fathers hate towards me.
But I will go along with everyone's plans for me, listen to Ace and his orders, do as I am told, and be the heiress they want me to be.
There's a knock at my bedroom door, still only wearing a towel from my shower, I answer it anyways.
“I'm sorry to bother you, Emma.”
“It's fine, what do you need Caz.”
“Mr. Collins asked for you to meet him in the library when you are ready.”
“Okay, I'll be right down.”
Caz acknowledges my dismissive tone before I close the door and head to my closet to find what dress I will be wearing tonight.
Feeling the fine delicate fabric against my skin as I look into the mirror at myself. I reach for my holster and wrap it around my thigh, then grabbing my gun, I slide it into the holster as it rests between my legs, high up on my thigh.
Any big events I have ever been to, I have always carried my own gun. I am not sure how Ace will react to this, so I will just not tell him about this.
Sliding on the bracelet Ace gave me, then I adjust my dress, before I leave my room to meet Ace. We haven't spoken since this morning. Yes, I am angry as hell at him, but the string to my heart is still held tight, pulling me towards him.
As I get into the hallway, of course there are guards everywhere with two trailing behind me, watching my every move.
I'm on total watch; Ace isn't going to let me be alone at all.
Continuing down the hallway until I reach the library and walk in. Ace is standing by the window, with his arm above his head leaning against the wall, as his leg crosses the other. A smile slips from my lips as he looks up at me.
Well, if he isn't looking fucking delicious right now.
Biting my lip, unable to help my gaze from exploring his tall lengthy body, the suit taut against his shoulders, revealing those lines outlining his muscular frame. A heat spreads to my legs instantly.
Our gaze meets and that tether to my heart is pulled taut, pulling at the feelings that I know I feel for him even after what he did.
“You look beautiful.”
A smile spreads across my face as I say. “Thank you.”
He advances me with his long strides, before he is in front of me. I watch him begin to bring his hand up, but he hesitates. “I know what I did hurt you, Emma-”
I stop him from continuing on. “Ace, I am the one that is sorry, and I know why you did it. Yes, it hurts like hell, but it pulled my head out my ass, you've got who you need.”
His hand cups my cheek, feeling his warmth as his thumb trails over my skin, my eyes close leaning into his touch. “I really need you to stay close to me tonight, Baby Girl.”
I nod with my words. “I know.”
As I look into his eyes, the sense of more is going on and that he is hiding something from me hits me. I can't help but ask. “Ace, why do I get the feeling you're not telling me something?”
He stares into my eyes and I see that jaw tick and I know I'm right, he is hiding something from me, but I wait for his words. “Nothing you need to worry about, okay, just worry about what we already have going on.”
Taking in a defeated breath, I give him a smile. “Okay.”
His grip tightens as he pulls me to his lips. He devours my lips in a hot possessive kiss making my lips part before his tongue is down my throat moaning into his mouth. His other hand slides down to the slit in my dress, before his hand dives under my dress, slowly trailing up...
Well, he's about to find a surprise .
His hand stops once it meets the strap on my gun holster, before he explores more and he pulls back, staring into my eyes with a darkness to his eyes.
“Surprise.” I say with a little laugh, and he chuckles, before it falls. He asks with a deepened tone. “What are you doing with that?”
“I never go to big events without it, and I won't start now. I'm sorry, that's my protection.”
A wicked smirk twists from his lips as he says.
“I love it, Baby Girl.” His hand slides up more, his two fingers work together rubbing circles over my entrance through my wet panties.
“You’re soaked, baby.” He groans into my mouth before he cups my pussy, squeezing, making my piercing press tight against my clit, my breath catches in my throat.
“I'm craving this pussy, Baby Girl.” The pressure he’s causing increases causing me to clench my legs together, the sensation new, but god, it is fucking doing something as my nipples harden.
A deep growl rips from his chest before he rips his hand away and steps back, a playful but sinful smirk playing on his lips.
“Not yet, Baby Girl, I want to take my time with my sweet little pussy, before I ruin it.”
I smile up at him, seductively biting my lip. “Well then I guess we should hurry up and get this night over, so it can start over again.”
A deep chuckle rumbles from his chest before he leans down and whispers in my ear.
“You might regret saying that.” He nips my neck, sending a shiver down my spine before he leans back and smirks.
His arm snakes around my waist, resting his hand on the small of my back as he ushers me to the car, leaving me wet and needy. He’s a fucking tease.
The drive to our engagement party was quiet, Ace did a lot of looking at his phone, working I am assuming, before we arrived at our party.
With my arm looped through Ace's, he pulls my arm tight against him, a possessive hold on me as I look up to him and his eyes are searching everywhere, as we walk into the building.
Of course the room is already filled with Mafia bosses and their Queens, or slaves, or whatever you want to call the women that hang from their arms. A beautiful slow jazz plays in the background as we make our way through the room and all eyes on us of course, feeling the pressure, the tension, I look up to Ace.
Watching how he carries himself as he leads me around the room on his arm, firmly holding what is his, a sense of pride in his eyes, causes me to smile.
We greet our guests, and lots of them, feeling like it's already been hours here, and well I guess it has, just hanging from Ace's arm, his grip never loosening, as he leads me around the room.
Honestly we share some good laughs, a few of the younger bosses, Ace's age, are much like him; maybe there is hope for this world.
My eyes scan the room looking for my father until I spot him. When our eyes meet, a twisted smirk laces his face making me swallow hard. I still don't know why my father has such hatred for me, but it's a mutual feeling.
With his eyes still locked on me, he comes towards Ace and I, Ace talking with one of the other bosses. I tighten my hand around Ace's forearm, causing him to look down to me and I snap my eyes towards my father, letting Ace know he is coming over; quietly.
“Ah, the newly weds to be, my beautiful daughter.” My father with his open arms, fake smile, and fake father act, now in front of us. Ace growls deep in his chest as I say. “Hello, Father.”
“That's the greeting I get for doing all of this for you?”
A big smile spreads across my face, as I let go of Ace's arm and take a step forward.
“Thank you for this, it's beautiful, Ace and I are thankful.” Trying to keep the bile from rising in my throat as I plant a peck to his cheek and step back next to Ace as he immediately wraps an arm around my waist, hurting with a painful grip .
“How about a dance with your old pops?”
“I don't fucking think so.” Ace snarls. I know Ace is protecting me but he is going to cause my father to think something is up, so I get up on my tip toes and whisper in Ace's ear, acting like I'm kissing his cheek.
“If I don't he will know something is up, I'll be okay.” I plant a long lingering kiss on his cheek, closing my eyes preparing myself to dance with my father, before I rock back down on my heel, and look at my father with a fake smile.
. “Yes, I would love to dance with you.” That's a lie, I would rather slice out his eyes but, the time will come, just not yet.
“Fabulous.”
I look up to Ace and he furrows his brows, his jaw clenching, he meets my gaze, before he says. “Enjoy your dance.” I give him a soft nod, before taking my father's hand that is in front of me, then he leads me to the dance floor and without a word we start to dance.
“Why haven't you been at the office?” My father asks.
“I've been busy with Ace, but I've still been taking care of my duties from home.”
“I see.” A silence falls between us again, before my father leans in, the stale whiskey on his breath causing me to cringe, he whispers in my ear.
“I don't feel sorry for anything that happens to you or your worthless new king.” My heart pounds in my chest, my eyes widen immediately searching for Ace, as the feeling of my fathers darkness washes over me.
“What is that supposed to mean father? I thought you wanted this wedding to happen?”
My fathers dangerous laugh barks from his throat. “Oh, I have a better plan, a much, much better plan.”
The song ends and I step back immediately, pulling my hand free from my fathers death hold.
“I'm sorry, I wasn't up to your standards, but you never gave me the chance.
So Father, I'm sorry to say, I feel sorry for you.” And I walk away.
Something I should not do, showing disrespect to a man of my father's power, but my insides are crawling out of my skin, telling me, something is about to happen.
I have to go to Ace.
Immediately I find him, never having left the spot he was standing as he watched everything I was doing with my father.
But when he sees the panic on my face, he steps towards me.
He reaches for me and I smile up at him, trying to keep my concerns from showing.
Getting up on my tiptoes once again, I plant a kiss on his cheek, before I whisper.
“I don't think my father is waiting until the wedding, I think he's doing something tonight, Ace.”
Without any hesitation, his arm snakes around my waist firmly, as his words come out in a growl. “We're leaving, I'm getting you back to the estate.” He turns towards Caz, who has been at his side all night. “We're leaving.”
Looking up to Ace something inside him rising, his eyes blackening by the second, immediately feeling his tension, I know I need to keep my eyes fucking open.
“Come on, let's go.”
“Ace, I think that's what he wants us to do is leave. I don't think he would do something inside here, too many bosses; he may be dumb but he can be sneaky and smart too.”
“I'm not risking you being here, Emma. We are leaving and I'm taking you back to the estate now.”
The lump in my throat is bigger, feeling that something is to come once we leave this event, but I nod, not arguing, listening to Ace, but wishing we had shared at least one dance…
He usher's me from the room, guards flocking in by the second, a group leading in front of us and a group trailing behind, and my heart races in my chest, but trying to keep my wits about me.
The feeling inside me is not good, my chest tight, my heart racing in an uncontrollable rhythm.
With Ace's hard hold around my waist, I take a glance up to him, the face he carries is not a face I know. “Ace?” He looks down at me, and for a second, I see that star of a light in his eyes as a small smile slips before it is taken over again with darkness, and he looks forward.
We get outside and there are blacked out SUVs lined up, and guards surrounding us.
A guard opens the door to the SUV as Ace quickly usher's me in.
I have grown up in this world with my father, but we never had security like this, even when that Mafia boss started a fight with my father 10 years ago.
This is different, there's more to this.
I feel it inside me, something is going on Ace isn't telling me.
We both settle in the back seat before Caz takes off, the other SUVs follow behind us. Ace looks over to me with parted lips before everything goes black.
