Chapter 28

KORMAC

Big questions weren’t for me. They were for scholars, for folk who didn’t fight to live day in, day out. No deep thoughts for the likes of me.

But sometimes they came. Like now. How me and Valance were destined to be linked like this. Considering this steaming shit, trying to figure out a loophole, brought nothing. For now, I was stuck. On the road, there might be a solution, someone to break this spell.

Why me? Why him? Why any of this? We weren’t finding out anymore until we saw the other versions of this crazy old bag.

“Fuck,” I muttered, watching the slender body in the chair.

The prince was curled up, breathing gently, head resting on his folded arms. I wasn’t sure if he was sleeping. Probably not after that talk.

Lasair was alive. Which was good and bad. I had to get back to her, to explain…

…but she wanted to hurt Valance.

Hellpissingfuck! Gods! What a dishonor to my people, to Ren’s memory, to everything I believed in. What a cruel fucking joke! But at least I had my tongue back, no thanks to him.

His slender body… That silk dressing gown…. The tease of seeing him almost naked… Mine to care for.

Damn.

Just damn.
