Chapter 5 #4

“Okay, Luna,” he chuckles. “So, I’m going to do the same exam. It’s a bit more in-depth. The reason I’m going to do it again is to confirm that you don’t have a mobile pelvis”, he says.

“What do you mean?” I ask.

“Well, your cervix and uterus move, or should, with an exam like this. If it doesn’t, you have a higher likelihood of having the adhesions.

Last time you had no movement at all, and it was just a part of the annual exam, so I didn’t go into it as much as I normally would whenever we’re specifically looking for endometriosis.

If you still have no movement today, then I'm going to make sure that we have the time allotted for me to take care of the adhesions. We are also looking at the possibility of you having cysts on your ovaries if the endometriosis is as severe as I think it is. Anything that I can take care of I’d like to go ahead and do so we can try to prevent future surgeries. ”

“Okay,” I sigh. “I was reading about endometriosis. A lot of women said that they had pain with sex. Why do I not? I mean it’s not comfortable but it’s not as excruciating as they have made it out to be for themselves.”

“Really, I’m not sure. The human body is weird and sometimes it does what it wants. It could be anatomy that makes it to where it is not pulling on the nerves that would be affected. The piercings could be providing enough relief that you don’t notice it as severely.”

“The piercings were my mom and sister’s idea. They had the same issue and said it would help. My sister doesn’t anymore since she had a hysterectomy,” I say.

“Well, obviously, that’s not the case for everyone, but in your case, I think that it might be helping. Everyone is built differently,” he says. “Ready?”

“Why do I feel like you find this funny?” I say as I lie back.

“Luna, I’ve had patients have an orgasm while giving birth. The human body does what it wants, and I find that fascinating. Nothing about this is funny,” he says as he puts gloves on. The look on his face is almost endearing.

“Don’t look at me like that when you do what you’re about to do to me,” I grumble and drape my arm over my eyes.

“Alright,” he laughs. “No stirrups this time. Just bring your feet up and let your knees fall apart.”

“Do I need to take the piercings out for surgery?” I ask.

“Yes. You can put them back in after.” I nod and take a deep breath, centering myself. “Alright, relax for me.”

“I don’t think that’s possible right now,” I say as he slides two fingers into me. I groan before I can stop it but it’s from sharp stabbing pains. The more I tense, the more pain seeps in and I wince.

“Relax, Luna,” he says as he pushes deeper.

“If I do it’ll happen again,” I whine.

“Then let it happen,” he says. “I’ve got you. It’s better than being in pain.”

I nod and force myself to relax. He pushes down on my lower belly as he presses in and up inside of me.

“Fuckfuckfuck. Oh my God,” I moan softly.

I cover my mouth when my body reacts and my back arches.

He presses in deeper and something stronger than last time hits me.

My body automatically tries to twist but his hand on my belly keeps me in place.

I don’t realize that I have a death grip on his wrist until the feeling starts to fade and he pulls his fingers out of me.

I cover my face with my hands and try not to cry. That’s twice in a row now and I’m fucking mortified. If I try to prevent it, it hurts. If I don’t then I will come.

Dominic takes off his gloves before he brings my legs down then takes my hands and sits me up.

“I’m sorry,” I say quietly.

“Don’t apologize,” he says with a sigh.

“Because that’s reassuring,” I mumble.

“Fuck, I’m going to get myself in trouble with you,” he says before stepping closer and lifting my chin. I am stunned when I notice a sizeable bulge in his pants and a feral look in his eyes. “It’s okay, Luna. Any man who gets upset at you for having an orgasm is a fool.”

“How are you going to get in trouble?” I ask, confused. “Is it because I…”

“No, Luna. I am seconds away from doing something that I could lose my medical license for. I need you to understand that you have done nothing to offend me so I can put some distance between us.”

“But that would require me to not approve of whatever it is you’re talking about,” I say. When he moves his hand from my chin to the back of my neck before tilting my head back with his thumb, the realization of what’s happening sweeps over me. “Dominic.”

“You are off limits, Luna,” he says softly.

“Dominic, I never asked…”

“I know, Luna. This isn’t on you,” he says. He runs his thumb across my lips before shaking himself free of whatever daze he was just in. He drops his hand and steps back, clearing his throat.

“Be up at the hospital tomorrow at noon. You and Harper will have to sign a few things before you go back. I’ll talk to Harper and get her back there before you wake,” he says, suddenly professional sounding.

“Kay,” I say bitterly. It’s not fair for somebody to do things like that and then abruptly change directions. It’s a mindfuck and he knows it.

“Luna,” he sighs.

“Is that all Dr. Rivers?” I ask.

“Yes,” he says simply.

“Then I’d like to get dressed and leave. Wouldn’t want to be any trouble,” I say with the same bitterness in my tone.

He simply nods and leaves the room as if nothing has happened. I quickly get dressed and go to check out. I just want to get out of this building. He’s up at the checkout desk when I get up there, so I simply just lay my paper down in front of the lady. “Am I good?” I ask.

“Yes,” she smiles. “I’ll call you in a few days to schedule your follow-up appointment.”

“Thanks,” I say before rushing out of the building. When I get to my car, I’ll text Harper.

Me: Update. He’s an ass.

Harper calls me immediately. “Hello,” I sigh.

“What happened?”

“Well, it happened again. I apologized and he basically said that I was trouble but also said I didn’t have anything to apologize for.

He fucked with my head by making me think he was about to kiss me and then said that I was off-limits and went straight professional,” I say.

I look up to see him walking out of the building toward me. “And now he’s walking out here.”

“Bro. He likes you,” she says. “He said you’re off limits because you were in the office. He wasn’t being an ass. He could get in a lot of trouble for fucking with a patient in that office.”

“Whatever. I’ll see you when you get here,” I say as I end the call. I shift my car into drive and go to pull out, but he knocks on my window. I sigh and put the window down. “Yes, Dr. ?”

“Luna, we need to talk,” he says.

“I’m off limits, remember? I’ll just get you in trouble,” I say. “Don’t worry about checking on me. I’m a big girl.”

I go to put my window up, but he puts his hand on the glass. My stupid car cares more about safety so it automatically goes back down. “Luna,” he says again.

“Get your hand off my fucking car,” I say through gritted teeth. He sighs heavily and steps back as he motions for me to go ahead as if I need his permission to leave.

That would be a red flag if I didn’t know I was the one overreacting.

“What am I supposed to wear to have surgery?” I ask.

“Doesn’t matter,” Harper shrugs. “You have to be naked anyway.”

“I’ll be asleep then. Let’s not talk about Luna being naked,” I frown. I grab leggings and a T-shirt to put over the top of my sports bra and underwear. I put my sandals on and walk out of my bedroom to go to the living room.

I am standing in front of the couch, looking at my phone when I hear a knock at the door. Harper is closer so she turns to open it. “Harper don’t…” when she opens the door, she smiles brightly when she sees Dominic.

“Hello neighbor,” she says, stepping aside to let him walk in.

“What do you want?” I ask with a sigh.

“Making sure you’re not bailing on me,” he says simply.

“I won’t say I didn’t try,” I admit.

“I threatened to call her dad,” Harper grins.

“I’m not bailing. You can go,” I say bitterly.

“You’re a bitch when you get your feelings hurt,” Harper remarks.

“Fuck both of you,” I snap. I turn to go back to my room, but Dominic loops his arm around my waist and pulls me to stand in front of him. I try to pull away, but he holds my waist with both hands and keeps me in place.

“I understand that you are scared, Luna. Believe me, I do. After your surgery and once the medication is out of your system, you and I need to talk. Okay?”

“Pass,” I say simply.

“I’m not asking you, Luna. I’m telling you that you and I are going to talk. Understand?”

“I do believe I have a father, and it’s not you,” I say as I try to pull away again. “Don’t treat me like a child.”

“Don’t act like one,” he retorts.

“Oh, fuck you, Dominic. Who the fuck do you think you are talking…” he cuts me off suddenly when he grabs my face and kisses me hard. I instantly melt into him and Harper squeals in delight.

“You are a brat, Luna,” he mumbles before kissing me again, only softer. When he pulls away from our kiss, he is still holding my face between his hands. I don’t open my eyes just yet because I’m afraid of finding out it’s not real. “Look at me.”

“I’m scared,” I admit.

“About the procedure or the biopsy?” he asks.

“The biopsy.”

“Luna, the only reason I want to do the biopsy is so that you have peace of mind. I would be comfortable not doing it, but you will worry yourself to death. If I thought for a moment that it could be cancerous, I would’ve done the biopsy that day in the office.”

“You’re still an ass,” I say, and he smiles.

“I’ll make it up to you,” he says. “Come on.”

“Alright, Luna. Are you ready?” Dominic asks. I am lying on the operating table. Everyone is gowned and gloved. I am completely covered from the neck down, which is good because it’s cold in here.

“Yeah,” I say. “Don’t kill me, Doc.”
