Chapter 5 #6
“Luna, not being able to have kids doesn’t make you useless,” he says as he pulls my sports bra off. He doesn’t look long but he definitely stares at my tits for just long enough that I giggle.
“My sister’s husband left her for another woman after her hysterectomy. Got her pregnant in less than three months,” I say.
“Sounds like it's a good thing that she’s not with him then.” Dominic pulls my shirt on before helping me out of my leggings. Once I get my underwear on, I realize I still have to put the piercings back in.
“Ah, shit,” I sigh.
“What?”
“I forgot that I have to put these piercings back in,” I say.
“Can it wait a few days?” he asks.
“No, I’ll forget and then I won’t be able to get them back in.”
“Would you like some help?”
“I’ve got it,” I say dismissively. I go to step past him but he grabs my waist and gently sits me down.
“You are the most stubborn woman, you know that?” he asks.
“Yeah,” I smile.
“Where are they?” he asks.
“In a little plastic container in the bathroom,” I say. “Do you even know how they go back in?”
“Yes,” he laughs.
“Then you know I’m liable to accidentally get off again.”
“Yes, but we should definitely prevent that for a few days. You’ll be pretty uncomfortable if you do,” he says.
“I’m pretty sure having an orgasm during a pelvic exam is the definition of uncomfortable,” I laugh.
“For who?”
“Not you, apparently,” I shrug.
“Do you want me to help, or do you want to wait? You’re not doing it by yourself right now.”
“I could do it alone,” I frown.
“Okay. Sit down without making anything hurt,” he says, and I laugh. “That's what I thought.”
Dominic sits me down before going to get the jewelry from the bathroom. When he gets back he helps me lay down and I groan as I settle into the mattress. He helps me get my underwear off before I pull a pillow over my face.
He gets the princess-piercing one in without issue but when he gets to the VCH it feels both amazing and excruciating.
“Ow fuck, that hurts,” I whine.
“I need you to be more specific,” he laughs.
“It makes my insides feel like I’m being stabbed,” I explain. “Fuck, but it also feels good. You need to hurry because I’m either going to cry or come and I don’t wanna do either.”
“There,” he laughs and helps me put my underwear back on before taking the pillow from me. “Can I get you anything?”
“A gun,” I say and he narrows his eyes at me. “Ya know. To shoot myself with.”
“Yeah. I got it before you said it,” he smirks. “Anything that doesn’t involve suicide?”
“Uhh… no.” I smile brightly at home.
“I see the pain meds are working,” he says.
“You look tired,” I say.
“I am, but I’ll hang out until you go to sleep,” he says.
“You can sit, ya know.”
“If I sit, I’ll probably pass out,” he says. “Your surgery was longer than I expected.”
“Dominic, you’ve touched my vagina more times in the last two weeks than I think anyone else ever has. You can stay here because we both know you’ll just worry if you don’t watch over me,” I say.
“Do you want me to stay?” he asks.
“I do,” I admit. “I like being close to you.”
“Okay,” he smiles. He moves to sit, and I frown at him.
“You better not be about to try and sleep with jeans on. That’s weird,” I say and he smirks.
“Trying to get me to strip for you, Princess?”
“Yeah, a little,” I grin
He smiles and steps out of his shoes and socks. He pulls his shirt off next, and I whistle at him. “You are definitely going to regret this when that medicine wears off,” he laughs and unbuttons his pants.
“I will never regret getting to see all that, trust me,” I laugh.
Dominic helps me get under the covers before crawling in beside me. He immediately pulls me into his arms, and I rest my head on his chest. “Good night, Luna,” he says, kissing my forehead.
“Good night, Dominic,” I reply with a mumble.
Two Weeks Later
The last two weeks have been crazy. I have spent every day talking or hanging out with Dominic. Nothing is progressing so I don’t know what to think. I like him so much and he seems to feel the same way, but we are taking things slowly.
Harper’s lease was revoked after some water damage to her unit when a pipe broke. The fact that I’m sitting in the leasing office and they have their lawyer here tells me they are about to try to get rid of me. Harper was able to find a studio apartment luckily.
“Ms….”
“Just call me Luna,” I say.
“Okay, Luna. The damage to the unit next to yours is extensive and is affecting the wall and floor that separates the units. In order to fix it, we have to be in your unit. This means you cannot be in the unit. We unfortunately don’t have any available units so…”
“So, you want to void my lease,” I say. “When do you need me out?”
“Ideally, a week. We have three units that we need to do repairs on, and we’d like to start as soon as possible,” he says cautiously.
“Alright,” I sigh. “I’ll figure it out. Anything else?”
“We will be refunding this month's rent for the inconvenience,” he says.
“Okay. Thank you,” I say as I stand. “Good luck with your units, I guess.”
I walk out and try not to let this overwhelm me.
There’s nothing I can do about it so there is no sense in freaking out.
Surely, I can find something in the next week.
I have a little savings and I can add that into this month's rent to go towards a new place. I guess the part I hate the most is the fact that I grew accustomed to being close to Dominic. It’s going to suck not being near him.
Dominic was on call last night, but I am meeting him for lunch today at a cute little sushi restaurant.
Tonight, he is not on call, so we have plans for dinner as well.
I walk the four blocks from the leasing office to the sushi restaurant.
The moment he looks up from his phone and sees me, he frowns.
He has this weird ability to sense when something is wrong without me saying a word.
He always says it’s written all over my face, but I don’t actually know what he means by that.
“What’s wrong?” he asks when I sit across from him.
“I’ve been in this building less than a minute,” I say simply.
“The fact you didn’t make a smart ass comment tells me that it’s not good. What’s wrong?” he asks.
“I just had a meeting with the leasing manager,” I say with a sigh.
“Harper’s unit caused damage to part of my unit so now they are canceling my lease and I have a week to leave.
I suppose I could fight it but then I would have random men in my apartment and my bedroom for God knows how long,” I say.
“I have savings and they’re giving me this month’s rent back, so I can afford to find something else.
I just don’t know if I can find something in a week.
I suppose I could go to my dad’s since I can work remotely, but I really don’t want to do that.
Harper hardly has room for herself in that tiny ass apartment she found. ”
“Why not just come stay with me?” he asks. “I have the room and I had planned on moving out when my house is done so I’m about to have even more room,” he says. “Whatever happens between us, you’ll still have a place to stay.”
“Are… are you sure?” I ask, frowning. “I don’t want you to feel obligated.”
“We are together every day anyway. May as well,” he shrugs. “Plus… I really like having you around.”
“I can pay you rent. I don’t take up much space so I won’t get in your way. I will keep on saving and be…”
“Princess. Relax,” he says with a smile. “I wouldn’t have offered it if I wasn’t sure. Also, you’re not paying me rent.”
“Dom,” I sigh.
“Dom nothing. We can have someone move your furniture into storage for you. I’ll help you get your personal items over tonight,” he says. “You and I will have dinner at our place and watch TV until you pass out like you always do when we watch movies.”
“You fall asleep too,” I laugh.
“Yeah, because I’m nap-trapped by you,” he says. “I just accept my fate and go to sleep.”
“You’re so dramatic,” I say with a smile as I roll my eyes.
“I’m off for the rest of the day so let’s eat and go to your apartment,” he says.
We finish our lunch and talk about our day before we walk to the apartment building.
We go to my apartment first and start gathering things to move.
My clothes are easily packed away into suitcases.
I have various other bags and I still have some boxes from when I moved in, so my personal effects are neatly placed together in the living room.
Dominic is refusing to let me pick anything up because I’m only two weeks out from my surgery, even though he cleared me himself. He is in his apartment for a second and I am in my living room.
I hear someone come in the front door and I assume it is Dominic until it’s a completely different voice. I am looking in the boxes to make sure that I have all of my work stuff together. “Well hello,” I hear my old boss, Chase Miller, say.
I stand and spin to face him. “Why are you here?” I ask.
“They said you had surgery and you were working part-time for a few weeks,” he says as he walks a bit closer, shutting and locking the door behind him.
“I was moved out of your department because you are a fucking creep to me. You certainly shouldn’t be in my home,” I say.
“You know you got me written up for that?” he asks.
Something in the way he is looking at me makes fear flood my veins.
As he rounds the couch, I back up. I don’t want to be near him.
I have avoided it for a while now. I thought I was rid of him since I switched managers right before my surgery.
They said he wasn’t allowed to say anything to me, and I was blocked from his computer so he couldn’t see my stuff or contact me. How does he know where I live then?
“You need to leave,” I say firmly.
“You okay, Luna?” he asks. “You look scared.”
“Get out,” I say, pointing to the door. That was a mistake. I don’t realize it until he seizes my wrist and spins me so he can slam me against the wall.
