4. Daphne Blasphemy

Daphne: Blasphemy
Wolfe nudged between my knees, holding me in the doorframe.
“There are over five hundred naked women at this party,” he breathed, snaking his hand along my throat to tip my chin into the busted glow of the club light. “And just like always, I cannot keep my eyes off you, Daphne.”
The words swept across my ear, causing everything to feel hot and sticky.
“Why the fuck can’t I quit you?” Wolfe spun, crowding me against the center of his chest, and I stuttered, catching his usual scent of salt and wintergreen trickling into my mouth.
“Wolfe?” I asked, feeling the universe darken.
“Yeah, Daph?” His fingertips roamed, rounding my hips and rolling over my ass with a tight squeeze.
“Nine,” I rasped hot against his lips, dipping my tongue in just enough to taste him. “I want nine.”
It would never be ten, even though I knew that was what he wanted, what he had been waiting for since the day we began this little game. But I couldn’t give him that last piece of me. It already belonged to someone else.
“Fucking hell.” He turned the knob, shoving me into the dank alley littered with the stench of secondhand rain and backwater trash. Seattle always smelled wet, her lungs one step from blue-tinted pneumonia.
I moaned when he slammed me against the brick wall, loving the way the sharp edges scratched my skin in tiny, burning lines.
My phone chimed, but Thay, or Threx, or that self-satisfied bastard could fuck off. He didn’t get to find me. Not now.
Or maybe he should.
Maybe it was his turn to watch.
Wolfe knew how to fuck me, the nuance of my angles and all my glittering breaking points.
What each breath meant, and how to draw it out of me.
He understood my body in ways that I forced myself not to think about, and Thay knew it.
He smelled it on me after the first time Wolfe broke me open, but of course, he didn’t say a word.
Just watched while I pressed my thighs together every time Wolfe entered the damn room.
“Fuck, I miss you.” Wolfe’s fingers dropped to his belt, splitting the air with the sharp swipe of leather. I panted when he draped it behind my neck, sliding it slowly across my skin.
I missed him, too, but Wolfe had made it implicitly clear that the most we would ever be was complicated, and that no longer worked for the person I was attempting to become.
I would never forget the day I walked in on him with some Underworld groupie, her wrists bound to the bedpost while he took her from behind.
“Can I help you, Daphne?” he had said, turning his head just enough to watch me blink.
At first, I thought it was about Thay, because let’s be honest, you didn’t get me without him. But it wasn’t. After months of sleeping on Wolfe’s chest, it was nothing more than a brutal reminder of who I was and where I stood in his world.
Wolfe liked to pretend he didn’t have a heart. Leaders of the Underworld couldn’t afford them, but I’d heard enough heartbeats to know the truth. He beat for me. And while mine beat for Thay, I loved Wolfe, though I’d never said the words out loud.
“Sure about that nine, Pretty Girl?” he asked, taking the end of his belt and threading it behind my neck.
My lips parted, the slightest breath catching on my approval.
“You know the rules,” he said, leaning close, and I smiled.
I was safe with Wolfe. All I had to do was say stop, and he’d fuck me like the princess I was, getting off on that thin line where darkness and light liked to play.
“Yes,” I breathed when my phone buzzed again. And again. And…
Wolfe’s eyes went wild while he pulled my cell out of the hidden compartment inside my dress and shoved it into his pocket.
“You’re here with me now.” His eyes darkened, watching the way my breath hit my lungs, making my breasts do all sorts of naughty tricks.
I nodded, suddenly all too aware of the collar he’d placed around my throat and the sparkling need for him to pull.
“Say it.” He stepped into me, gliding my dress up past my thighs.
“I am here,” I mouthed between breaths, listening to the way his pants fell into the alley filth below. “With you.”
Wolfe’s lips curled up, the edges of his thumbs snapping my panties before he lifted them into the air.
“But you forget,” he said, sliding his hot finger down the center of my legs, and I gasped when he pinched down on my clit. Hard. “You’re in trouble.”
“Wolfe,” I panted, arching to pull him closer, but he only laughed.
“And I am not here to play nice, Daphne,” the edge of his jaw raked down my cheek. “I am here to punish you.”
Wolfe’s voice was rhythmic starlight, lingering somewhere between midnight and a switchblade.
He clamped tighter, thumbing the soft skin before creating another edge.
“Fuck!” I cried out, and his tongue rolled down my lips.
“Oh, we’re going to fuck,” he promised, grabbing both my wrists and pushing them behind me, using the scraps of my panties to hold me prisoner.
My throat swelled into the leather, making Wolfe’s cock jump against my thigh. He wasn’t as big as Threx, but you would never know. He was thick, skilled, and not afraid to fall dick-deep inside me until all the lights blotted out.
“But as your punishment, you’re going to have to take it without touching me.”
My eyes flashed when his left hand curled into the belt around my throat while his right pulled at the top of my dress until my nipples were between his lips. My breasts were bigger than most, full and needy, pressing into his touch.
My phone chimed again, shaking through me in a clear warning. That asshole must have turned it up. He wanted me to hold on to Thay’s panic while he took my body.
“Wolfe,” I whimpered, stringing together the unholy syllables until it landed behind my knees. He didn’t answer, only bit into me harder. “I want to see you,” I clawed at his shirt, needing to feel him against me.
“No,” he taunted, using the leather to force me to listen. “I told you. Tonight you have to take it.”
“For what?” I bit back, half-naked and bound.
Wolfe dotted my eyes with the sweetest stars before tilting my hips into position.
“For making me want to fuck you. Again.”
I smiled, and he yanked.
“For making me feel things. Again!” Wolfe spoke into my mouth. “Do you know how annoying it is to be inside someone and wish they were you, Daphne?” He asked before yanking the leather taut, the strips of leather biting into my flesh. “I mean, it really makes shit awkward when I cry out your name.”
Fuck. That broke me.
Aside from Wolfe, whose face and body remained intact, only one other person found me mid-thrust. I knew firsthand what it was like to take the pleasure but not the man, to repackage the experience into something that made me whole.
“I know the feeling,” I breathed, wanting his mouth on mine. But Wolfe only paused, throwing his perfect brow into the air.
“Are you saying you think about Threx when I fuck you?" He pulled tighter and lifted my chin, deadlocking me into his gaze.
“No,” I did not lie, at least not entirely. I did not want him to be here now, but that was because he already was. I couldn’t explain it. He just lived inside me. “You know you’re the only one who can make him go away.”
Wolfe panted, smashing his growl into my mouth that drank me fully. I whimpered when his dick found me in the same strain of fire, no warning, no workup, just all of him at once, hitting my body like a fucking thunderstorm.
I leaned into the sensation of being bound as my back slammed against the dirty brick wall.
“Yes,” he praised, fisting the leather to control my breath, sending bursts of salt into my eyes.
I arched forward, slipping into the sticky violence when Wolfe’s hips ground tight, supporting me perfectly as he took me higher and higher into the sky.
“Fucking hell, Daphne.” His fingertips swept over my lips, dipping into the back of my throat. Pumping. Rolling. They tasted like cigarettes and bits of tobacco fucking into my mouth.
My eyes slammed shut, the mist of Seattle gleaming at the edges with every growl. And for a moment, it was quiet except for the sounds of blades skating along the edge of Blackwater Lake while gently lit pines crested through fallen snow.
“Daph…” Wolfe’s entire body caged me in, the sides of his hips drowning me further until I couldn’t keep it in.
Not the image of five women sucking off Thay.
Not the dots in the forest where everything was safe.
And not the illusion only Wolfe could conjure, one where I was completely whole and almost his.
“Fuck,” we came together, the leather growing tighter as a choir of pleasure painted the grimy sound of city static in uneven splotches.
Wolfe toppled forward, throbbing inside me, his body holding me against the wall while mine slumped around him. I shivered into his frame until everything became splintered. Broken. Perfect. Mine.
“I’ve fucking missed you,” he admitted as we slowed, releasing my hands and gently draping them over his shoulders. I buried my face into the crest of his neck, playing with his hair the way I always did afterward.
“I miss you too,” I confessed again, wishing my bed were nearby.
Wolfe drew back to stare into my eyes, pressing a half-smile to my mouth.
My phone shivered. BUZZ.
Wolfe was still inside me when he pulled it free from his pocket, glancing at the scroll in real time.
“Shit.” He handed it to me, and I read the most recent text.
To my surprise, not all of them were from Thay.
One was from my preceptor, informing me that Alyssa Masters had gone into labor.
I was in a cohort of four others and had already completed my hours for the week, but something inside me told me to respond.
It was likely the same voice telling me to avoid Thay by keeping my body moving. I leaned into it.
“Need to go?” Wolfe asked, pushing a strand of hair behind my ear. “Shit. I still cannot believe that you are a fucking doctor.”
“A midwife is not a doctor.”
“It really is.” He slid the belt from around my neck and pulled himself from my body, kissing my nose on the way out. “I love that scrunch,” he teased as I fell, and I missed him already. “Nathem,” Wolfe spoke into his phone. “Can you bring the car to the side? Daphne needs some clothes.”
“Daphne? As in our Daphne,” Nathem celebrated, and I smiled.
“The very one.”
“Hell yeah.”
Nathem was the club’s Irish rogue, always finding his way in and out of shit, despite being a six-foot Nephilim. While in the dorms, he taught me the finer points in life, like how to sip whiskey, journal instead of rage, and shoot a sawed-off without it knocking me on my ass.
Wolfe kissed my cheek when a black Suburban squealed down the alleyway.
“Hey, beautiful!” A red-haired menace with mismatched eyes jumped out of the front seat to pull me into the warmest hug. “Turns out the world sucks ass without you.”
I laughed, throwing my hands around his stomach.
“But fuck, you are always so pretty after you come.”
I scowled, elbowing with a playful grin.
He would know.
Before Wolfe took the ranks and moved into the leader’s suite, they shared a wall, and I can’t say we were exactly quiet.
But more than that, Nathem was a shoulder, a steady thrum in a world where regulation was a myth.
He was there the day I found Wolfe with another woman, and all the moments after.
“Here,” Wolfe handed me the standard black-on-black sweatpants and hoodie the crew wore whenever they were out doing “tasks.” I eyed them warily, pulling on the pants under my dress before shrugging the fabric off into the rain.
Both these men had seen my tits, and there was no use in being weird about it.
“I look like I just got out of prison.” I laughed, tugging on the sweatshirt that fell past my knees.
My usual birthing attire consisted of throwaway black leggings and an off-shoulder tee, but this screamed, I slept the night in the county jail.
A strange message to send before adding, By the way, I am here to birth your baby.
“A sexy ass prison,” Nathem smirked, shuffling his fingers through his hair before taking the cigarette from Wolfe’s hand in a slow drag.
“Where is your not-so-better half?” Nathem’s eyes shifted to the shadows, then back at me.
“Good question,” I shrugged. “The last I saw him, five women had his dick in their mouths. So…”
Nathem choked, but Wolfe shot him a look that told him to play it cool.
“What a motherfucking idiot,” he said, trying to make me feel better. “I mean, look how big your mouth is.”
“You’re such a dick!” I laughed, kissing him on the shoulder, missing the way these men wrapped around me.
“Wolfe said you need a ride?” Nathem asked, kissing me on the top of the head.
“Yes, she does,” Wolfe answered, taking a slow drag before eyeing the car door. “But come back after. We’ve got things to discuss.”
“Sure thing, Boss,” Nathem nodded, turning to the driver’s seat.
I turned to say goodbye when Wolfe came at me, pressing my shoulders against the metal.
My mouth clamped shut while he rested his forehead against mine, searching my eyes in quiet circles before opening the door to tuck me in.
I suppose he was right; there were no words that did not have holes in them.
I placed my palm against the window, watching the way the lines of our hands melded together, but never fully touching, forever separated by glass and drops of falling rain.
“So, what did he do?” My good friend smiled, hitting each station until a flurry of guitars beat through the car.
I blinked through the noise.
“What do you mean?” I asked when he pulled away slowly, leaving Wolfe in the blur. But I kept my hand on the window. “Thay?”
“No. I know what he did,” Nathem said with a laugh. “Rinley. Word is he wants you dead.”
A dark chuckle welled in my throat.
Of course he did.
