Chapter 54

Chainz moaned in pleasure as Jessie pressed her perfect lips against his, the suction of their kiss eliciting feelings of blissful power from the titanic crime boss.

She was straddled against him atop the king-size bed of the ranch house’s master bedroom, undressed to perfection as she wiggled along his pelvis in just the right ways.

In times like this, Chainz often thought it was good to be the king, for what was how he had come to view himself. A king. Like a medieval lord, free to eat, drink, fuck, and do as he pleased while the entire surrounding area bowed to his every demand.

It wasn’t surprising at all, though. Chainz had always known he was destined for great things. It was this unwavering faith in himself that had allowed his meteoric rise through the underground of Phoenix to take to the stratosphere.

Chainz had no idea what had caused the EMP blast that had decimated the world’s electric grid, and frankly, he didn’t much care.

Why didn’t matter to him, and neither did how it came to be.

All that mattered at this moment was what had happened, where he now found himself, and who the people looked to for guidance and leadership.

As Chainz brought his hands up to dig his fingers into Jessie’s thighs, a massive, booming explosion sounded from somewhere close by. It was so close that it actually shook the walls of the house.

“What?” Jessie started to ask before Chainz had grabbed her around the waist and effortlessly tossed her off of him. She flew off to the side, rolling off the bed with the force of his casual shove.

Chainz was out of the bed in a flash, pulling his pants on and shouldering his way out of the bedroom.

What could have caused that explosion? What was happening so close to home? Who could possibly have done something so monumentally stupid? Was someone in this world seriously dumb enough to challenge him?

Pulling on his boots, followed by his leather vest, left open to display his muscled and tattooed torso, Chainz practically kicked down the door of the house.

Legion wasn’t in his usual place on the porch.

He was down on the lawn, looking out with his mouth hanging open.

Chainz barreled down the steps and stood beside his bodyguard, practically shoving him out of the way.

What he saw made his blood boil with the strain of his unearthly rage. His gates, which he had been assured were impenetrable, were lying in smoldering ruin, exposing the interior of his fortress property to the surrounding area.

“What the fuck?” Chainz screamed, his voice echoing around him. He turned toward Legion and grabbed the huge man by the front of his shirt. “What is this? What happened?”

But, of course, Legion had no response for him. The fat fuck simple stared at him dumbfounded, and Chainz roughly shoved him away and glared at the massive opening in horror and shuddering anger.

“Holy shit,” Jessie said, appearing in the doorway, now fully clothed and gaping with an open mouth at the catastrophic destruction.

Members of the Chain Gang from all over the property were running up, seemingly everyone who was still left within the now wide-open walls of his fortress.

Chainz suddenly had a startling thought. He had sent off the overwhelming majority of his followers to take the reservation and ensure Vin was dealt with once and for all. He had done this with full confidence, knowing a skeleton crew was all that was needed to hold off any kind of frontal assault.

But now, the doors were wide open, and there was no way this was some kind of freak accident.

Chainz saw one of his followers pull out a pair of binoculars to get a closer look at the gate devastation.

Chainz walked up to the man, grabbed the binoculars easily from his grip, and shoved him hard to the ground.

He gazed through the device and gasped when he saw what was approaching his gates from the outside. It was an entire mob of armed, angry Natives, running on foot and riding on horseback as they charged toward his unmanned fortress.

“Shit!” he cried out, spiking the binoculars into the ground with such force that they practically exploded on impact.

He turned in a circle, screaming at the top of his lungs.

“We’re under attack!” he cried out. “Sound the alarm bell, and every one of you get your worthless ass out there now and kill these mother fuckers!”

His followers scattered away from him like fish in the presence of a shark.

Immediately, he heard the sounds of alarm bells being rung, and soon the world around him was filled with Chain Gang vests, running this way and that, arming themselves and running toward the gate to engage the enemy.

Even Legion had moved away from him, heading toward the weapons shed so that he could properly defend Chainz if the enemy managed to advance far enough into the camp.

They had drawn away the bulk of their force, suckered them into attacking, only to sabotage his gates and launch an attack against him directly when he was at less than a quarter of his strength.

He didn’t have to think hard to realize where this plan had originated and who was leading this surge into his camp.

“Vin,” Chainz growled before turning to Jessie. “Go take care of his woman and kid!”

Jessie’s face lit up like a child on Christmas morning. She was a savage beast, and watching the murderous glee light up her perfect face brought a cruel smile to his own.

“And Jessie?” he added, stopping her as she was turning to carry out his command.

She looked back at him with a quizzical expression. His smile deepened as he imagined Vin making it all this way only to find out that the people he was fighting for were already gone.

“Make it painful.”

Jessie’s lips pulled back from her teeth like the predatory snarl of a lioness.

“Oh yeah,” she said, practically in a moan of pleasure deeper and more heartfelt than any she had uttered as they’d lain intertwined with one another in bed.
