Chapter 31
Melody
Isee, as well as feel, Jaxon trembling with rage. James and Kayden are holding Damian up with each arm behind his back. He smiles up at me with blood coating his teeth. Blood drips from his hands; looks like the brothers had some fun cutting off a few fingers.
“Hello, my sweet Melody. Miss me already?”
“Don’t you dare talk to her,” Jaxon growls before landing a punch in Damian’s gut. He doubles over but not before the brothers are lifting him back up.
They hold him as Jax lays into him, punching every possible part of his upper body. When Damian slumps forward again Jax grabs his hair and forces him to look up at him.
“Thought you’d get off that easy, huh? You think this is all we got… We are just getting started you piece of shit!”
I flinch with every hit that lands on him, not because I sympathize with him, but because I’ve grown accustomed to being hit myself over these last few days. The sound brings back all the memories, and I grab Jax’s arm just before he lays into him again. I’ve noticed blood starting to seep through his shirt, too.
“Jax, enough. I want to go home. I hurt all over…”
“Fuck, I’m sorry, baby. You know we aren’t going to turn him in right? We aren’t letting him leave here alive…”
“I know, Jax, that’s why I have one request before we leave…” I pull Jax away from the others.
“Anything, little sparrow. Tell me what you want.”
“I want you to cut off his dick and shove it down his throat… See how he likes it.”
My last statement causes Jaxon’s jaw to tick; he’s barely holding himself together from just outright killing this guy at my admission. I said without so many words exactly what I was subjected to in this hell hole, and I know Jaxon picks up on it.
“You got it, baby, but are you sure you want to watch this?”
“Abso-fucking-lutely.”
Without wasting any more time, James and Kayden start pulling down Damian’s pants all the while he is fighting with renewed energy. Jax grabs him by the throat and brings his face close to his. I can’t make out what was said, but Damian’s eyes widen in fear.
They stuff the towel from the room where I was kept into his mouth and drop his boxers around his thighs. James gives Jaxon a pair of leather gloves that he must have had in his pocket, and before I can even blink an eye, Jaxon uses Damian’s own knife to cut his dick off. He removes the towel and Damian is shrieking as blood spurts from his body, puddling beneath him as he squirms. Jaxon uses the opportunity to shove it down his throat.
We all watch as he thrashes his head back and forth trying to be rid of himself. His entire body convulses with pain, and his face turns purple as he chokes on his own dick. Satisfied that he got exactly what was coming to him, I tell Jax to end it so we can finally go home.
James grabs the gun from his waistband as Kayden steps back and lets go of Damian. Without anyone holding him up, he falls to the ground, cracking his teeth on the concrete. Quicker than I can even process, James shoots him in the head. Blood and brain matter pools beneath him, and I let out the breath I was holding. I’m finally free of him.
“Jax, please, can we go now?”
“Absolutely, little sparrow.”
“I’ll call in that favor and have this cleaned up and taken care of,” says James reassuringly.
“Thanks, man, I appreciate it,” Jax replies, clapping a hand on James’s shoulder.
“Kayden, you stayin’ or goin’?”
“I’ll stay here and help James, go on without me.”
We say our goodbyes and Jax and I head outside. Parked across the street is a jeep and what appears to be Franklin slumped forward in the seat.
Cursing under his breath, Jax runs up to the driver’s side, opens the door, and places a hand on his neck.
“Thank god, he has a pulse. Must be knocked out or something.”
After Jaxon gets Franklin in the backseat, he comes around and gets me settled in the passenger seat.
Now that I’m finally safe, the adrenaline that has been coursing through my veins dissipates, leaving me exhausted and shaky. As Jaxon drives us home, I steal glances at him every so often. I can’t believe he’s alive and real. I spent the last five days believing him to be dead, and here he is, my avenging god.
As the landscape fades from the city lights to the green and blue coastline, I start to drift asleep, the exhaustion finally catching up with me.
