Mike

Isee the message I just received from Jessica. Ignoring it, I set my phone on the side and turn to my brother. “You think we should leave her here?” I ask again, and he nods.

“I know her behavior is weird,” I tell them.

Before Nate can say anything else, Liam speaks.

“I have fallen for her as much as you have, I am sure. After all, I have been stalking her since we arrived in this town almost. She is amazing; I wish we could keep her. But she is as much of a liability as if we had let Mary live.” Good one, brother; compare the woman we all have fallen for to the bitch that birthed us, only to hand us over to our worst nightmares.

I don’t tell him that, though. Instead, I say, “I agree. We should leave now because she is waiting. Who knows how she will react if we don’t pick her up soon.” They agree and leave the room to pack, and I do the same.

I go to my room, take my suitcase from under the bed, open it, and start throwing in the basic things we brought here.

We always travel light. We have two vans big enough for our things and our bikes.

The plan is always the same: we separate.

Liam takes the black van we use to transport the bikes from town to town, and his dog.

Nate takes the white one we use to kidnap the women, with our stuff in the back.

I usually join Nate. I like to say it’s because I want to spend time with him, but in reality, I know my brother likes his alone time.

It takes only an hour for us to pack before we meet downstairs. Liam is filling the white van with our suitcases. Nate is packing the bikes, minus Liam’s.

“Are we going to pick up your bike?” he asks him.

“No, we won't. She will notice if we do. Leave it—a parting gift, if you will,” Liam responds, and none of us talk again.

I gather everything else we need and lock up the house, leaving our keys in the cabinet by the front door for the owners along with an envelope with the next month’s rent.

I type an email to send them, letting them know we will be leaving.

I make sure to lock the shed and every door of the house while the guys make sure everything is packed and secured in the vans for our departure.

“Boys, time to go,” Nate announces from the driver’s seat of the white van.

“On to the next,” Liam agrees and exits the driveway as I silently get into the passenger seat next to my boyfriend. This is for your own good, Jess.
