Chapter Eight Zenovia
Cassian pulls out of the bakery’s parking lot, and I stare out the window.
What happened with that girl has freaked me out a little, not that I don’t trust Cassian.
She just gave me bad vibes. It’s clear that she has a little crush on her teacher, but I also think she might end up getting him into trouble.
I jump as I feel his hand on my thigh. I didn’t know I was that deep in thought until he touched me.
“Talk to me,” he says softly. I turn to look at him but my eyes catch something pink between his seat and the center console.
“What’s that?” I lean closer and he looks at where I’m pointing as we stop at a red light. His eyes widen and the horror is evident on his face. I’m about to pull it out when he grabs my hand to stop me.
“Don’t touch it. We need to get to my house and have Jaylen check it out. I promise you I didn’t do anything. I don’t know what that is or where it came from.”
He brings my hand to his lips and kisses each of my fingers.
“I think there’s more to this than what I’m understanding. Jaylen needs to see what I have.”
“I trust you. It’s her I don’t trust.” I squeeze his hand and he drives off.
The rest of the drive to his house is quiet, but a comfortable silence.
Cassian never lets go of my hand as he drives to his house and I’m not sure if it’s to reassure him or me.
Before long he pulls into his driveway and I see Jaylen waiting on his porch.
Both Cassian and I get out. He takes my hand and the two of us walk up to Jaylen. “I need you to check my truck first,” Cassian says as he motions with his thumb over his shoulder. “I’ll get dinner ordered and then we can have a chat.”
“What am I looking for in the truck?” Jaylen is already putting on some gloves as he asks that.
“There is something pink wedged between my seat and the console.” Cassian answers before he pulls me behind him into the house.
My back hits the wall as he pushes his body against mine before he ravishes my lips. It’s a slow sensual kiss that makes my toes curl. He tangles his fingers in my hair as his other hand grabs hold of my hips and pulls it closer to his.
“I have wanted to do this since seeing you at the bakery. I’m so sorry about all of this.” He pecks my lips a few more times before pulling away. “I’ll order some burgers and salads.” He walks to the kitchen while I head to the living room.
Jaylen walks in with a pair of panties in his hands. He grabs an evidence bag and puts it in there. He doesn’t look happy at all and he is not even talking to or looking at me. He sits on the couch opposite me and writes something on a notepad.
Cassian walks in and sits next to me. “The food will be here in about an hour.” He pecks my cheek and then turns towards Jaylen. “What did you find?”
Jaylen hangs his head before he rubs his hand over his face as he lifts his head again.
“A panty with some cum stains on it.” He looks between me and Cassian.
My heart beats out of my chest right now.
Who would put that there? “I take it she doesn’t wear that type. I would say you have an obsessed person. They aren’t stalking you, they are trying to get to you. Trying to infiltrate your life.”
Jaylen waits a bit and Cassian gets up. He comes back with a folder and a note.
“This was on my windshield and these are the pictures I talked about.”
Jaylen takes the file and letter from Cassian and he turns towards me.
He takes my hands as Jaylen goes through what he has given him.
“Babe, there were some photos in my classroom. They are very intimate photos of us, as well as of Jaylen and me out back. Someone has been watching us. I didn’t read the note, and now the panties. I promise you I never touched anyone. I only want you.” He watches me for a moment.
“Do you think it could be Valerie?” I have to ask. How she acted in the bakery gives me some very bad vibes.
“Who’s Valerie?” Jaylen asks as he puts the note in an evidence bag.
I glance at Cassian. He needs to answer this.
I don’t know the whole story behind it. “She’s a student in my senior class.”
He rubs circles on the back of my hand. It’s like he needs this closeness to get past this.
“She asked me for a ride to the bakery to meet her friends, and I was going that way already. When we got there, she made it sound weird.” Cassian explains.
I lean against his arm. “She seems to have a crush on Cassian.”
“Cass, I know you. I know you like Zen. I also know you would never step over the line with any one of your students, but this…” He taps on the note. “It looks really bad. It’s pointing to you having a relationship with one of your students.”
Cassian grabs the note, and I lean closer to him to read it. The tremble in his hands breaks my heart. He’s a big muscular guy, but right now he’s scared. Not only could this tarnish his reputation, he could go to jail.
Note:
I miss seeing you. The weekends are too long. I wish we could see each other without hiding.
Love xxxx
“I swear–”
I cup his face, cutting him off. “We know. You were with me the whole time. You are with me in the afternoons or with Jaylen.” I try to get him to calm down. We have to find out who is behind this.
“Cass, we got this. I’ll get my team to look into this.” Jaylen pats his knee before he gets up and takes the evidence. He leans down and kisses the top of my head. “Look after my brother. I’ll see you two later. I’m still supposed to be at work.” He walks out without another word.
Cassian falls back against the couch and pulls me with him. I lift my head to look into his eyes. “I almost forgot. The football team wants to know if you could make some cookies for them. They want to hand it out at the homecoming game.”
“I would love to. I could make some footballs and the jerseys.” He pulls me closer and kisses me.
“You are the best.” I lie my head on his chest as we wait for the food to arrive. Hopefully, we can sort this misunderstanding out soon. One thing is for sure, I will be keeping an eye on this Valerie girl.
