Chapter 29
Roman
I lift Cecilia off my lap and stand, ready to clean myself up in the bathroom.
I came in my pants.
Again.
But it can’t be held against me when a goddess is coming apart in my lap. On my fingers, choking them to death.
Only two fit inside her. She was so damn tight. It has to have been a while since she’s been with a man.
My vision reddens at the thought of her with another man. I have to take a deep breath and turn my back to her so I don’t scare her with my fury.
“OH MY GOODNESS! What is that?” Cecilia screams, jumping to the other end of the couch. To the end away from me.
I whirl around, scanning the surroundings, looking for the threat, ready to neutralize anything that has my woman so scared.
“Cecilia, what is it?” I demand.
I take a step towards her, and she scurries further away from me, cowering in fear. Cowering from me.
What the fuck?
“Why… why do you have a gun?” she whispers, her eyes reflecting the terror in her voice.
Fuck.
I forgot about the gun that’s always in the waistband of my pants on my back. And since I’m shirtless, it’s exposed.
“Sunshine, I work in security. I have to be armed to protect myself and others,” I exhale in relief as the lie comes quickly.
“Plus, with my training, it’s only right I remain armed at all times in case there’s ever a situation where I need to step in.
I’d hate for something to happen that I could’ve prevented if I were armed.
I owe it to the world.” I lie so easily to her, but it’s for her own good.
And it is true. To some degree. I am armed to protect. Maybe not every stranger on the street, but definitely her.
“Oh. That makes sense.” She nods as she lets it soak in. Then smiles. “I’m sorry I freaked out. I just wasn’t expecting it. I’ve never seen a gun in real life.” Then my na?ve, gullible girl shoots me a blinding smile. “See, you truly are a hero. Thank you!”
Fuck, that was almost bad.
I need a contingency plan. I need a plan in place if she ever finds out.
With that settled, I clean myself in her bathroom and come back to the couch. She’s falling asleep, so I lie down and cuddle her, holding her tightly against me.
When her breathing evens out, I wait a few more minutes, basking in her peace, then carry her to bed.
I tuck her in and stand in the corner watching her.
Only when my midnight alarm goes off, signaling it’s time for me to patrol our territory, do I leave. And I leave with a heavy heart.
On my way out the door, I collect her panties from the couch.
I inhale her release and groan at the scent.
These will last me a while.
With a smile, I shove them in my pocket and leave her door. I lock it with the extra key I made, and head down the hallway.
See you soon, sunshine.
