Epilogue
Judah
We saw the world anew through Posy’s eyes.
She handled everything like a champ, gasping in astonishment, laughing until she had to grab her sides, and overall reacting in ways we’d forgotten. The four of us meshed as if meant to be. Which, of course, we were.
However, we’d arranged a surprise, for our latest journey, and she wasn’t exactly pleased about not knowing the destination.
Of course, we couldn’t keep it a secret for much longer. Once we arrived at the airport, she might have a guess. Then the other planes. And finally, the boat. The flight to the tip of South America was the giveaway.
A once-in-a-lifetime cruise to Antarctica. A bucket list item for all of us.
We were making it happen. Channel subscriptions and watches grew every week since Posy joined us, and we’d even nudged her into setting up a sister channel, A Bears’ Mate’s Expeditions, on track to catch up to our numbers within the next year.
She’d been putting out lives—something we tried to avoid—and the ones since we’d left home this time where her viewers were treated to her grumbling about our keeping secrets, had her comments count climbing like no others.
We thought it was amusing that she’d been so worried about what she did or said on camera that first trip, and now, she was so confident just putting herself out there.
“I’m going to know in a few minutes. You know that, right?” she told us, holding her camera up to catch her and our reactions.
She was vlogging the whole thing, as well, as a bonus video for her channel.
“That’s fine, mate. You can wait a few minutes.”
“What do you think, fellow travelers? Should I have to wait?” Posy rolled her eyes. Patience was not her strong suit. “Fine.”
Soon, we stood in front of the check-in desk and the attendant asked for our destination.
Posy stood on the side with her arms crossed.
Feisty female. “Our first destination is Punta Arenas,” I answered.
“Final destination is the South Pole. We are doing one of the small-boat cruises as well as the flight an—”
“Shut up!” Posy said, bouncing on her toes and squealing. “I can’t believe you three!”
She couldn’t wait.
She was mad at us for not telling her. Her channel members agreed, although there were some complimentary remarks about us as well.
She was glad we didn’t tell her. Again, her fans agreed.
All kinds of things.
“Are you excited?” I asked the obvious question while pulling her into my lap. That got us some looks from other passengers, but I didn’t give a shit. Let them look.
“So excited. You three have earned some points today. Mate points. Big ones.”
I drew her closer. “Maybe when we get there, we can cash in those points some way.”
“Do you hear this, fellow travelers? I’m thinking I might need to end this live so we don’t get demonetized for naughty behavior online.” She turned off her camera and gasped softly as I nuzzled her neck. “I bet we can figure something out, Judah.”
