10. Willow #3

“It wasn’t a threat, silly.” I gesture to my stomach. “I’m just hungry. My stomach makes that noise when I haven’t eaten in a while.”

Rhune looks haughtily at Dravik. “Hah. You thought her stomach was a predator? Silly Dravik.”

I scoff. “Please. You probably thought the same thing the first time you heard it.”

His eyes flash bright pink, and he dips his head, looking slightly embarrassed. “Perhaps…”

I chuckle, and the sound brings a smile to Rhune’s face.

“You are hungry, yes? I will bring you food.”

Without another word, Rhune places me onto the furs and hurries toward the large chest in the corner of his room. It’s carved from the same ice-rock that makes up the walls, shimmering and beautiful—blending in so well with its surroundings that this is the first time I’m noticing it.

Rhune pulls out several wrapped parcels, placing them at my feet with an ear-splitting grin. “I went out while you slept and found more palepears. Would you like some of those?”

“Palepears?” Dravik scoffs. “Hoarfrost tubers will provide much more nutritional value. You should offer those first.”

Rhune scowls. “But she likes palepears.”

“Well, then she can have a palepear after she eats a tuber.”

I shoot a glare at Dravik. “I’m a twenty-six-year-old woman. I can have dessert before my veggies if I want.”

“Yeah!” Rhune agrees enthusiastically. “She can have whatever she wants, and I will provide it for her!”

Aw. He’s so cute, it almost makes me forget that I’m angry with Dravik.

Almost.

“You heard Rhune,” I say with a glare. “I can have what I want.”

Dravik is far from swayed. “Tuber first. You are in a strange world that is harsh on your human physique. You need proper sustenance.”

He makes a good point. But… fuck him. This is about my pride.

“I want the palepear.” I hold out my hand, narrowing my eyes at Dravik as I wait for Rhune to place it in my palm.

Rhune grins brilliantly, and he’s about to do so when Dravik lets out a ferocious growl, freezing him in place.

“Rhune, don’t you dare!”

I scowl. “Rhune, give me the damn fruit.”

Rhune looks back and forth between me and Dravik with a whine building in his throat. “I don’t know what to do…”

Dravik rolls his eyes, snatching the fruit out of Rhune’s grip before either of us can react. With his free hand, he grabs a hoarfrost tuber and shoves it toward my mouth.

“Take a bite.”

I turn my head away, resolute. “Absolutely not.”

“Why?”

“Because you’re being a dick about it.”

Dravik growls, clearly unaccustomed to being disobeyed. “Rhune?”

“Yeah?”

“Do you want to hold Willow?”

“I do!” Rhune grins, reaching over and pulling me into his lap without another thought.

“Hey! Unhand me!” I wriggle and try to get free, but his arms wrap around me, holding me tight to his chest. To make matters worse, the more I move, the harder his cock grows, pressing into my back with an insistence that has heat flooding my face.

Dear lord…

I’m so distracted by Rhune and his mega-cock that I don’t realize Dravik is inching the tuber closer to my mouth. The hard tip presses against my lips, and I gaze up at Dravik in surprise.

“Just one bite. Then I’ll give you all the palepears you want,” he says, his voice surprisingly soft. “Please? For my peace of mind?”

Damn these demons and their convincing ways…

Sighing, I open my mouth, taking a small bite of the strange root.

It’s not nearly as bad as the first time I tried it, and I’m pretty sure I could actually survive on these if I was forced to.

I won’t enjoy it, but as long as it’s nutritious and keeps me alive in this tundra, I can suffer through it.

As soon as I swallow the bite, Dravik smiles. The expression is so foreign, I just sit there for a moment, staring at his handsome face. Dear lord, he’s hot…

“Good girl.” He swipes his thumb over my bottom lip. “Very good girl.”

Oh, fuck me…

I lick my lips, my eyes inadvertently dipping down to his—and for a moment, I wonder what it would be like to kiss him.

I’m brought out of my less-than-pure thoughts as Dravik presents the wrinkled palepear. “Here. Now you can have this.”

He presses it to my lips in a similar manner as the hoarfrost tuber, but this time, there’s a hungry glint in his sunset eyes that sends heat straight to my core.

The pounding in my chest grows stronger, and warmth rushes through my veins as Dravik’s eyes flare bright. He leans in, cupping my face with his palm as he breathes in deeply.

I blink, and the edges of his outline begin to shudder, his features flickering, changing to something monstrous. It’s something out of a horror movie, and the sight is as fascinating as it is terrifying.

Dravik pulls back, his expression twisted in pain. “I… I have to go. I don’t know what’s… Something is wrong with me…”

He rushes out of the room, nearly tearing the covering from the exit in his haste to get away.

What in the world…

I turn to Rhune with a deep frown. “Is he going to be okay?”

Rhune shrugs, not seeming too bothered by what just occurred. “Probably. Maybe.” He turns to me with an ear-splitting smile. “All that matters is that we are alone once more.”
