As soon as I speak the words, Finn’s lips crash into mine.
I expect him to open a portal and take us somewhere, but he’s in no hurry.
For a few long, achingly sweet moments, all he does is kiss me.
In this beautiful place—under a piercingly blue sky, surrounded by the most incredible scenery and with the soft autumn breeze flowing through the meadow—he kisses me.
The magick of our bond hums its approval, like this is the only thing in the entire universe that makes sense.
With each passing moment, the hum grows stronger, the sizzle and lick of it against our skin burns brighter, our kisses get deeper and more desperate. Hungry, greedy, grasping and pulling until it’s a miracle we’re still upright.
“I don’t want to have sex on the ground,” I gasp between kisses. “Is there… somewhere… we can go?”
Finn chuckles, and the sound of it echoes all the way through me. “Is that your intention? To have your way with me?”
“Any objections?” I ask, already kissing him again—breathless, graceless, a silent order for him to give me what I want.
“None at all.”
Before I can blink, he takes my hand and opens a portal.
It’s getting easier each time we do this, and I barely flinch at all as we travel through the realm between realms.
Finn steps us gracefully out of the portal onto the balcony outside his rooms, and as soon as my feet hit the ground, he lifts me into his arms. Legs around his hips, hands on his horns to pull his mouth back to mine, magick pulsing taut and insistent between us like there’s no possible way I can be close enough to this demon to be satisfied.
He carries me inside, and we barely make it into the room before we’re tearing at each other’s clothes, kissing and caressing every inch of newly exposed skin.
There’s something almost animal about the frenzy between us. Something primal and unstoppable and bigger than any reason we shouldn’t be doing this.
Something terrifying, and wonderful, and more natural than anything I’ve ever felt.
I’m moving on pure instinct, pure need, almost painful as I strip him bare and allow him to do the same.
I sink to my knees on the rug, taking in every inch of him on the way down.
Fuck, he’s hot.
He’s just so fucking hot it’s ridiculous.
Maybe I’m ridiculous for how distracted I am by it, and maybe I’m just using sex as a distraction for everything I can’t face, but right now, with him, I have no way to stop it.
All the reasons we should stop have gone quiet.
There’s nothing but me and Finn and our bond and this room—a few more hours to steal away before I have to face it.
I’ve never felt like this, never experienced this kind of wild abandon, never had anyone want me like this.
Finn wants me more than anyone has ever wanted me.
He wants me with such obvious ferocity it puts a lump in my throat and a whisper of guilt in the back of my mind.
It’s all tangled up together. Lust and shame and power and something else I can’t name. Something that feels like a warm, mellow glow at the very center of my chest, just waiting there for me to acknowledge it exists.
All of it means I should probably put a stop to this, slow down, pause until I can sort out what it all means.
But I’m not going to do that.
Better sense be damned, I’m not going to do that.
I’m going to take everything Finn is offering for as long as he offers it.
I’m going to trust the magick burning in my chest, my veins, a thousand tiny tendrils of fate all telling me this is exactly where I’m supposed to be.
I’ve never had anything that’s mine the way Finn is mine, never done anything so selfish, never had anything I wanted with the same visceral ache I have for him.
And now I’m nothing but want.
I want and I want and I want him.
To my marrow, I want him.
Past reason, I want him.
And I’m going to have him, even if this is the last time.
I kiss and lick my way down his abs, and each sculpted muscle bunches and jumps under my mouth.
Finn bites back a muffled curse, and it just makes me burn hotter.
It also gives me ideas.
Too many ideas.
So many ideas, I don’t even know where to start. I want to do everything all at once. I want to taste every inch of him and know every single way to make him feel good.
I want to give, and to take, and to get lost in him until the rest of it disappears.
Glancing up through lowered lashes, all that want gets even sharper when I see the look on his face.
Gaze half-lidded, mouth open on a panted inhale, exposing his fangs. Finn watches me through crimson eyes glazed over with pleasure, locked on me like I’m the only thing in the thirteen realms that matters to him. Like I’m the only thing that’s real.
And in that moment, I know exactly how I want to see my demon fall apart.
