8. CHAPTER #2
“Yeah!” Azazel replied dutifully. “We got our people at his shops, all the clubs, his condo and this house he owned too, but uh, Leslie left though.”
“Who?”
“The talking car. Mr. Kalt had her locked up in a garage or somethin’, and when our guys let her out? She booked it.”
“I’ll deal with her later. What I want is more information.”
“Yes, boss. I know. Trust me. We’re looking, okay? We’re checking out his contacts, his employees, everybody. Even his fucking neighbors.”
“And?”
“No sign of Mitternacht yet, but we’re looking and—”
“Look harder,” Mr. Heiss snapped.
There was a pause.
“Can I speak up now?” King asked, his voice a hushed but somehow still very loud whisper.
Mr. Heiss sighed. “What?”
“I’ve seen him comin’.”
“Where?”
“Uh, some place. You’re there. Indy’s there. Weird, you both have yer clothes on…”
“And what else?”
“The clothes on bit is strange. I know I saw the two of you bollock naked—”
“King.”
“Fine, fine!” King groaned. “It’s a shop. I think. There’s a big counter and cash register and rainbows all over the floor. Tonnes of rainbows. You go there, and Mitternatchy whatever is gonna be there. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe the day after. Say, five o’clock.”
“So very helpful as always.”
“Happy to! Wait… What are you doing? Why are you lookin’ at me like that, yeh bleedin’ bastard? Don’t you dare put me back in that poxy drawer, fuck face! I swear I will—”
King’s voice abruptly cut off.
“Was that supposed to make any fucking sense?” Azazel asked. “Any of it?”
“I have no fucking idea.” Mr. Heiss growled low, and the whole house rattled. “I am sick of it. Absolute fucking nonsense. I went through fucking hell to find a worthy prognosticator to help me and what the fuck do I have to show for it? What fucking benefit has it been?”
“Well, you did get one of the jewelry things, right? The human?”
“Yes. Once I figure out a way to kill him, I will take it and—”
Azazel chuckled.
The house shook again from another furious growl.
“Shit. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean—” Azazel gasped. “Sorry.” His voice was now strained, breathless. He was being choked. “I didn’t mean to—”
“Care to explain what is so fucking funny to you?” Mr. Heiss barked.
“Nothing, boss!” Azazel’s laugh turned nervous. “Nothi—ugh, can’t… breathe…”
Something thumped against the floor, maybe Azazel.
“Go.” Mr. Heiss was calm once more. “Tell Tanze to get back to fucking work and find Mitternatcht. Now.”
“Yes, boss.”
Silence followed, and Indy assumed Azazel had left.
He wondered why Azazel had laughed about Mr. Heiss saying he was still trying to figure out how to kill Indy.
Yes, hearing that had stung, but it was a good reminder that Mr. Heiss was not exactly boyfriend material. He wanted the ring and that was that.
Still weird that Azazel had laughed.
Footsteps approached, signaling Mr. Heiss coming into the room.
Indy remained as he was and kept his breath steady like he was still asleep.
Mr. Heiss came up to the bed.
And…
Just stood there.
He was watching Indy sleep.
Creepy.
But fine, yes, it was a little sweet and not in line with the whole wanting to kill Indy.
Mr. Heiss lightly petted Indy’s hair, pushing a few waves off his face.
Indy drowsily turned toward the touch with a sigh. He was hopelessly confused, but he found himself desperate for the simple affection. It warmed him in a way he had trouble explaining, and he knew he needed to pretend to wake up now and end this.
But he didn’t.
Mr. Heiss stepped away, but he hadn’t left the room. Wherever he was, he wasn’t moving now. Maybe he was doing some more creeping, but Indy didn’t have the feeling that he was being watched right now.
And he could hear birds.
What the hell?
Indy peeked open one eye to investigate.
Mr. Heiss stood beside an open window, but it wasn’t showing a view of the city.
It was a forest, green and lush and beautiful. It was drizzling even though sunlight was peeking through the thick canopy, and the birds’ singing made it sound like it was early in the morning though it definitely wasn’t.
Indy decided this was as good a time as any to give up the ruse, so he stretched and grunted noisily as he pretended to wake up. He rolled over on his back, his eyes still half closed, and he reached down to palm his cock through his pants.
Mr. Heiss hastily cleared his throat.
“Oh.” Indy gazed sleepily over at Mr. Heiss, but he didn’t move his hand. “You know I usually charge if you want to watch.”
Mr. Heiss turned his back to Indy with a sigh, and the window vanished. “I believe your Gammy is almost done with your juice.”
“Is that excitement I hear?” Indy wiggled his hips. “Want to take me for a test drive after I get it?”
“No.”
“Are you sure? I thought we had fun today. Had some drinks, met your family, went to the beach… No dinner though. Rude.” Indy yawned as he sat up. “Oh yeah, and Diet Pepsi is fucking disgusting.”
Mr. Heiss grunted. “Oh? And what do you like?”
“Hard fucks with cuddles after.”
“To drink.”
“Coke and Malibu. Or Dr Pepper with Captain Morgan. Heard that if you use the hundred proof, it tastes like a vanilla Coke.”
Mr. Heiss glanced back at Indy. “Why not drink a vanilla Coke then?”
“You are so missing the point.” Indy slipped out of bed and stretched his arms over his head. He smiled big when he saw Mr. Heiss’s gaze linger on his body, and he made sure to arch his ass out. “Since you haven’t figured out how to get this ring off—”
“Yet.”
“Can I at least go get some clean clothes? My toothbrush?”
“Whatever you need, I will provide.” Mr. Heiss took a step toward Indy. “Make a list.”
“Oh really?” Indy licked his lips.
“Is that a problem?”
“Didn’t think you cared, that’s all. Seeing as how you only want to get the ring from me.”
Mr. Heiss took another step forward. “Would you like me to be more cruel? I assure you that it’s no trouble if you’d rather be treated like a dog.”
“Will I get a leash?”
“Do you want one?”
“Woof, woof.”
“Cute.”
“I’m adorable.” Indy shrugged as he helped close the distance between them. “Just saying it’s a little weird.” His brow scrunched. “And kinda fucking confusing.”
“Any other requests aside from alcohol, clothing, and a toothbrush?” Mr. Heiss was now right in front of him.
“What about something exciting to sleep in?” Indy batted his lashes. “I’m thinking… black thigh-high stockings, lace panties, corset. Maybe a little bralette. Gloves. Pearls. Classy but definitely down to fuck on the first date vibes.”
“It sounds like you’re trying to seduce me.”
“Like I have to try.” Indy walked his fingers up Mr. Heiss’s chest. “Would you prefer me in something—” He thought about the feather. “White? Silky? Maybe some marabou?”
“Mmm. Both of those certainly sound like they have their appeal.” Mr. Heiss studied Indy’s fingers thoughtfully and slowly leaned forward. “And you are very beautiful.”
“Yes.” Indy inhaled sharply. “Yes, I am.”
“But how about…” Mr. Heiss tilted his head closer.
The air had become charged with warm energy, Indy’s heart thudded faster, and his lips parted in anticipation of a kiss.
Yes, this was happening. Yes, this was stupid and went against all the things he’d told himself not to do earlier, but the only thing that mattered to him right now was getting this demon’s tongue down his throat.
Indy closed his eyes. “Yes?”
“This.”
Indy sighed, expecting a kiss, but—wait, his clothes.
He jerked back, finding his entire outfit had been removed and he was wearing a bright blue furry pajama onesie with a yellow belly.
There was a hood of some kind on his head.
It didn’t take him long to deduce what character inspired his outfit because his boots had been replaced by fuzzy slippers with plush Sonic the Hedgehog heads.
“What in the actual fuck?” Indy shrieked. “Are you kidding me? This is a no. This is a huge fucking no!”
Mr. Heiss cackled.
