13. CHAPTER #2
“It’s bullshit,” Mr. Heiss said firmly, a bitter edge sharpening his tone.
“If you dare to defy them or question them, they will cast you out. To live in the light is to live by their rules, and no other way exists if you want to stay. If you’re stupid enough to leave on your own, they won’t allow you to ever return because you’ve been tainted. ”
Indy laid a hand on Mr. Heiss’s chest.
Beneath Mr. Heiss’s obvious anger was pain born from experience not dissimilar from Indy’s own. Being turned away, rejected, abandoned by the very ones who were supposed to care the most.
Christ, did Indy know exactly what that was like, but he wasn’t going to insult Mr. Heiss by making this vulnerable moment about himself. Indy wasn’t going to offer empty apologies or say how awful angels were or that he understood Mr. Heiss’s pain or any other bullshit.
It would have felt fake.
And yes, fine, Indy had been lying his ass off to Mr. Heiss, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it now.
Not about this.
The best thing he knew to do was give Mr. Heiss the opportunity to talk about it, a chance to speak his piece, so he gave Mr. Heiss’s chest a gentle rub and asked, “So, what happened?”
Mr. Heiss dropped his hand over Indy’s. “I believe it’s my turn for a question, is it not? Not very fair for you to take over the conversation.”
“I’m a bottom, so taking is just natural—”
Mr. Heiss groaned.
“Wanna know my turn-offs? Trick question. I don’t have any.”
Mr. Heiss actually smiled at that, and Indy’s heart fluttered. Mr. Heiss plucked Indy’s glass away to place it beside his own. “I think that’s enough for one day. It’s time to sleep.”
“Oh?” Indy wiggled his hips. “Did I wear you out, baby?”
“Yes, dealing with your foolishness is exhausting.” Mr. Heiss slid beneath the covers but remained on his back with his arm stretched out in invitation. “Rest now.”
Indy happily kicked his way under the blankets and promptly glued himself to Mr. Heiss’s side, cuddling in close. There was a long moment of silence before he tried to ask, “So, is Raph—”
“Go to sleep, meat sack,” Mr. Heiss grumbled sourly.
“Aw, we’re back to that again? What happened to sweet angry-sounding German nicknames? I was just going to ask if Raphael was your favorite Renaissance painter.”
Mr. Heiss growled.
“Ninja Turtle?”
“Indy.”
“Sorry, of course. It’s clearly Donatello. ’Cause purple.”
“Go to sleep.” Mr. Heiss closed his eyes, and the lights dimmed.
The curtains shifted to bathe the room in darkness, and Indy resigned himself to a nap.
He definitely deserved one after his hard work taking that cock and a record-breaking amount of orgasms, not to mention his second kidnapping and monster battle combo of the week.
He really hoped there wasn’t going to be a third, but he had a feeling this recent bout of excitement was far from over.
If it meant getting dicked down like this again, it would be worth it.
Maybe.
Almost.
“Raphaelos.”
“What?” Indy popped his head up, squinting at Mr. Heiss in the dark. “Did you say something?”
Mr. Heiss still had his eyes closed, but he said again, “Raphaelos. That’s what Raph is short for.” He hugged Indy closer.
“Oh… So, not like a Ninja Turtle.”
“If you repeat it to anyone, I will pull your lower intestinal tract out through your nose.”
“Fuck, you can’t talk dirty like that right before we go to sleep.” Indy playfully humped Mr. Heiss’s hip. He yelped when he got a prompt smack on his ass from Mr. Heiss’s tail. Even through the blankets, it stung. “See, now I’m really horny. Good job. You made it worse.”
Mr. Heiss growled in annoyance, but Indy swore he was smiling.
“Fine. Nighty night.”
“Sleep well, Sonnenschein.”
Indy closed his eyes, a smile tugging up the corners of his mouth. “You too, asshole.”
Sleep came fast—so quickly, Indy didn’t realize Mr. Heiss had actually used his name until the singular moment before exhaustion took him.
Indy woke up alone.
That wasn’t unusual considering his line of work and intensely scant dating history—as in, he didn’t have one—but still feeling someone watching him was new.
Maybe he wasn’t as alone as he first thought.
There was definitely a presence, but it didn’t seem malicious.
But whatever it was, it wasn’t going away.
He rolled over, slowly opening his eyes to investigate.
He found a pair of big black doe eyes gazing back at him.
It was a very curious leshy, sitting on the floor and peering over the edge of the mattress.
“Oh! Hey, Dill!” Indy yawned, trying to shake it off so he could speak. “Shit, sorry. Hey, are you okay, babe?”
Dill blinked.
“You know, from the whole saving my fine little butt, winning the battle pretty much just you and your girlie, and the whole going fwoom thing.” Indy chuckled. “That was pretty damn incredible.”
Dill nodded and smiled sweetly.
“And you’re just… fine now? Aodnait too?”
Dill nodded again.
“After blowing the fuck up?”
Dill shrugged.
“Okie dokie then.” Indy started to stand, but he stopped. “Okay, you need to cover those innocent eyeballs right now.”
“Grow?” Dill sounded concerned.
“I’m fine, buddy.” Indy glanced around. “Just, uh, need some clothes.”
“Grow!” Dill grinned and his shoulders bulged.
“No, not grow! I said clothes, babe. Clothes.” Indy chuckled before a horrifying thought popped into his head. “I, uh…” He scrubbed his hand over his face and then slowly turned to look back at Dill. “Quick question. A teeny tiny thing. Can you… hear stuff?”
Dill tilted his head.
“Inside the ring doodad. Can you hear what’s going on outside?”
Dill shook his head and raised his hands to create a circular shape in the air. Then he used his fingers to make two circles to put over his eyes like a pair of glasses. He gestured at Indy, staring expectantly.
“So, like…” Indy tried to translate. “You can only see or whatever if you look… out? Like—” He glanced around the room. “Like a window?”
“Window.” Dill beamed.
“Okay, cool. And you didn’t do any looking out in the last few hours?”
Dill shook his head.
“All right, fabulous! Just wanted to make sure you hadn’t heard any of the freaky hot sex I was having with Mr. Heiss.”
Dill choked on air and covered his face, whining.
“I’m not doing it now!” Indy sat up, but he made sure to keep the blankets covering him. “Just, ugh, turn around or something while I get dressed.”
Dill whined again and didn’t move, his hands firmly over his eyes.
Indy laughed to himself as he climbed out of bed, stepped around Dill, and found his clothes. They were in a neat pile inside the bathroom and fully restored, so he cleaned up and got dressed. He was deliciously sore and grinned as he stretched, savoring every little ache.
He happened to glance at himself in the mirror and was struck by how he was smiling.
Huh.
He looked happy.
Like, really happy.
Fucking weird.
He stepped back out, his stomach fluttering pleasantly when he saw Mr. Heiss waiting for him.
Mr. Heiss wore a three-piece suit in shades of blue that made his eyes brighter with a fresh cala lily pinned to his lapel. His smile was soft when he first saw Indy, but it quickly curled up into his usual smirk. “I trust your nap was… restful?”
“Very.” Indy clasped his hands behind his back as he strolled over to Mr. Heiss. “How was yours?”
“Fine.” Mr. Heiss made no move to touch Indy, but he allowed him to come as close as he liked.
There was a small pink sprinkle on his lapel.
“I see you had a snack. Another donut?” Indy flicked the sprinkle away. “Too bad. You could have had me. Twice as filling and half the sugar.”
“We’ll be heading back now.” Mr. Heiss tried and failed not to smile. “I trust your Gammy is likely preparing to attempt banishing me again.”
“Fuck. Yeah.” Indy cringed. “She might send me along with you.”
Dill made a worried sound.
“It’s all right, babe. She’s very protective of me and I’ve made a big habit of vanishing for hours and hours here lately.” Indy gave Mr. Heiss a playful glare. “Since someone has my phone and won’t let me text.”
“She can text?” Mr. Heiss raised his brow.
“There is not a lot she can’t do, ’kay?”
“Let’s hurry back then, hmm?” Mr. Heiss offered out his arm.
Indy took it. “Let’s.”
The room poofed away in a blink, and they were standing in the living room of Mr. Heiss’s home.
The fake one.
The fake one that wasn’t the real one Indy and Mr. Heiss had gotten freaky in.
But also fake?
Since this room was also part of some other dimension and not an actual house.
Whatever.
It was where Gammy was, who was rising off the couch in an absolute flurry of wispy flailing that created a whirlwind when she bolted toward him.
“Indigo Glenn Summers!” she roared. “Where in the world have you been? It’s been hours and not a word!
It’s dark outside, young man! And I have been worried sick! ”
Indy held out his hands to soothe her. “Hey, hey! I’m okay!” He smiled, glancing back at Mr. Heiss standing behind him. “Mr. Heiss has been taking care of me. I’m good.”
“What were you doing? Necking?”
“What? Ew, no.”
Gammy gasped loudly. “Is that a hickey?”
“What?” Indy slapped a hand to his neck. “Wait! No? Maybe.”
“Aha! So, you were off somewhere neckin’!” Gammy pointed accusingly.
“Huh? So do I have a hickey or not?”
“No, but you sure thought there was a chance you might.” Gammy’s grin was absolutely gleeful.
“Shit.”
Mr. Heiss narrowed his eyes. “Indy is an adult and capable of making his own decisions—”
