31. Desire

“To my big sis!Congratulations on the new job and your new life. We are so proud of you for following your gut and your heart! We wish you much success!” Dream congratulated.

“Cheers!” everyone said as we held our glasses up.

When I shared the news of the job offer with my sisters, including Alaina and Seela, they wanted to go out for brunch to celebrate. We’d arrived at OC Eatery about twenty minutes ago, and the mimosa flights had just arrived.

“Thank you, ladies. I appreciate y’all celebrating little old me.”

“Sis, you deserve it. You’ve had some amazing things happen, but the drama ain’t been too far behind. I’m glad it’s over, though,” Destinee said.

“What’s life without a little bit of drama? It keeps things interesting, right?” Alaina added.

“It sure does. I’ve had too many wins to let a few losses get me down.”

“Yes!” they all cheered.

The five of us were in our own little world, enjoying the establishment”s vibe, music, food, drinks, and all-around atmosphere. It had been a while since I’d overindulged in alcohol, and I was tipsy as hell.

“This behavior isn’t very becoming of the mayor’s wife,” I heard to my right.

I looked up and saw Tammy’s thirsty ass and immediately got on my feet. I’d be damned if another one of Aziel’s obsessed admirers caught me off guard.

“If you don’t get the fuck outta my face, I’ll be even less becoming,” I warned.

Before it could get ugly, my girls pounced into action. Destinee and Dream placed themselves between us while Seela and Alaina strongly encouraged Tammy to get the hell on. Wisely, she took their advice, and not even a minute later, we were back to enjoying ourselves.

A few hours later, Mark pulled in front of our home, and Aziel opened the back passenger side door. He shook his head and smiled at me before unfastening my seat belt.

“It looks like you had fun. Can you stand on your own?” he asked as he helped me out of the truck.”

“Umm, I’m not sure.”

“I’ll take that as a no. Thanks, Mark,” he said, cradling me like a baby.

“No problem, sir.”

I wrapped my arms around his neck and rested my head on his shoulder. Suddenly, I was exhausted. When we made it upstairs to our bedroom, Aziel set me on the chaise.

“Do you want to take a bath or a shower?” he asked.

“Neither. I just want to go to bed.”

I fell back on the chaise and balled myself into the fetal position. My eyes were heavy, and I was losing the battle to keep them open.

“I’ll start the shower.”

When I opened my eyes again, Aziel was naked and stripping me down. He put my hair into a bun and secured my shower cap over it before carrying me into the shower.

“Baby, I’m too tired for this.”

His response was to set me on the bench and remove the showerhead from its position, using it to wet my body. The next thing I remembered was him tucking me into bed.

“Hey, where you going?” I asked.

“Baby, it’s only six o’clock. I’m going downstairs to watch TV.”

“Where’s Ria?”

“She’s spending the weekend with my parents, remember?”

“Oh, yeah. Come to bed with me.”

He chuckled. “Desire, I’m not going to bed this early.”

“But I wanna suck your dick.”

“Take your drunk ass to sleep. I’m not?—”

“You’re turning me down?”

“You fell asleep in the shower five minutes ago. Take a nap and I promise, you can suck my dick later.”

When he leaned down to kiss my forehead, I locked my arms around his neck and pulled him on top of me.

“That shower did the trick. I’m wide awake and horny as hell. Take those shorts off and put your dick in my mouth.”

“Damn, baby. Since you put it that way.”

He moved lightning fast, getting naked and lying on the bed. I slipped from the covers and positioned myself between his legs.

“How do you want it?” I asked as I took him in my hand.

“Wet and sloppy, baby. You know how I like it.”

Wet and sloppy it was… until I had to race to the bathroom to release everything I’d eaten and drank that day.

What I thought wasthe effect of too many mimosas lingered for much longer than it should have. A week after brunch with the girls, I still felt terrible. Aziel kept hinting that I might be pregnant, but I didn’t want to get my hopes up only to be let down.

However, after constant urging from him, I finally made a doctor’s appointment. We were sitting in the examination room at my doctor’s office, awaiting the results of the tests she ran. I tried to keep calm, but my nerves were bad.

“Okay, it looks like you two are having a baby in about seven and a half months,” Dr. Whittaker announced when she returned.

“Yes!” Aziel shouted.

“Dr. Whittaker, are you serious?”

“Desire, you know I wouldn’t play with you like that. Congratulations!”

I took a moment to process her words while my husband rubbed my flat stomach.

“Did you say seven and a half months?” She nodded. “That means I’m… ten weeks. My cycle was late, but it came last month.”

“Our bodies are magical and mysterious; sometimes they do what they want. However, was your cycle normal?”

“Aside from being late, it was slightly lighter and shorter than normal.”

“That makes sense. I assure you our tests are accurate. You two ready to see him or her?”

“Hell yeah. Set that shit up!”

“Aziel, calm down, and act like you’re the mayor and you had home training.”

Dr. Whittaker laughed. “It’s okay. I love seeing excited fathers.”

Ten minutes later, our attention was focused on the ultrasound screen. A sound similar to galloping horses filled the room. Instantly, my heart was full, tears filling my eyes and rolling down my cheeks.

“That’s a strong heartbeat,” Dr. Whittaker said. “And those tiny little dots right there are Baby A and Baby B.”

“Excuse me. What?”
