Epilogue

CJ

I always knew when it came time for me to go into labor, I would be all for it because it meant I would be getting to meet my child.

Axe and I decided not to find out the gender but did decide if we had a boy, his name would be Aiden Samuel. For both our dads. If it’s a girl, we decided on Apple Tracy. He wanted to keep the fruit names going, so I agreed.

I just wish I weren’t going into labor on my wedding day. I’m supposed to marry Axe within the hour and my contractions have been getting closer.

“Can we hurry this up?” I ask.

“What’s the rush?” Apricot asks. She’s here today as my maid of honor. As my sister, I wanted her to be a part of it, but I didn’t really want a massive shindig. Unfortunately, her mom and Marcus both wanted me to have something special and not something at the courthouse.

“I’m ready to be married to Axe already,” I murmur, doing my best to keep her from seeing the fact I’m in pain right now.

After what I endured at the hands of our aunt and uncle as well as Carlow, she’s finally found out and to say she’s pissed is an understatement. She wanted to raise them from the dead and kill them all over again.

A knock comes at the door and Avery pops in. “Are you ready?” she asks, furrowing her brow. “You okay?”

“Just peachy.” I smile.

“Okay, then let’s get you married. He’s out here ready to tear the place down so he can get to you,” Avery says and holds the door open.

Another contraction hits, and I place my hand on the wall. I’m determined to marry Axe today before this child comes and it’s going to happen now.

Music starts playing and I force a smile on my face. Dressed in a maxi white dress, I walk toward Axe. He grins at me.

Sweat beads my forehead. I’m not going to be able to make it much longer. Axe must sense something’s up because he rushes to me.

“What’s wrong, Sunbeam?” he asks, pulling me to him. My distended belly is in the way of our fronts touching fully.

“I want to marry you,” I say, panting.

“And you are, what’s going on?”

“I want to marry you before the baby comes,” I say, glancing down at my stomach.

“Shit, CJ’s in labor,” Jordan, one of my friends from up in Virginia at the Franklin charter, announces.

“Fuck, baby, why didn’t you say anything?” Axe mutters and runs his hand along my stomach.

“Because I’m determined to marry you, Andrew Wyatt, and I want to do it now before the baby comes,” I state through clenched teeth while bending in half when another contraction hits, causing me to scream at the sharpness.

Liquid spills down my legs and tears well in my eyes as I feel the urge to push.

“By the power vested in me, I pronounce you man and wife. Now go have your baby,” the minister declares loudly.

Axe lifts me into his arms and carries me to our room. There’s no way I’ll make it to the hospital in time.

Two hours after pushing and using all my strength, I finally hold our son in my arms with Axe sitting next to me. His arms enclosed around both me and our little boy, Aiden Samuel Wyatt.

Such a perfect name for a perfect child.

“I love you,” Axe whispers, brushing his lips on my forehead.

“I love you too. Thank you,” I murmur, glancing up at him.

“What are you thanking me for?” he asks.

“For giving me something to devote my life to,” I say, a smile sliding into place.

I smile because he knows I’m right, and I look forward to spending every day devoting my life to ours. He’s my everything as I know I’m his.

The End!
