Chapter 19

"Let go. Kneel here and reflect."

Sa'er still refused to release my hand. I pried his fingers off and walked out of the office.

Two minutes later when I returned, he was still hanging his head. His shoulders slumped forward, gaze fixed on the floor.

I brought the Dream-Eating Mo in.

It protested with soft chirps before spitting out a Dream Bubble for me.

"This is what I took from its dream pouch. Do you want to see it?"

Inside the Dream Bubble was a dream I had right after I broke free from Sheng Tianyun.

In the dream, Hu Jin and I were forced to form a temporary partnership. Every day we had to fight against hundreds of test subjects.

Our life was simple:

Either we died, or the test subjects died.

In the end, it became either I died, or Hu Jin died.

Sheng Tianyun watched coldly and gave the order. He said a monster only needed one leader.

So I voluntarily dropped my weapon and took Hu Jin's bullet. When blood spread across my chest, I felt an unprecedented sense of relief.

After I died, I turned back into Red Coral. Hu Jin smiled.

He said it was better this way.

At least he could obtain "eternal life."

Only later did I realize that his final ability was called "Soul Condensation," something he could only use once in his lifetime.

Because of that, he became weak and lost his value, so he was thrown onto the experiment table.

As for me, I had already died long ago.

I had always been a soul without a physical body, merely able to condense a form.

Sa'er stared at the scenes inside the Dream Bubble, tears streaming down his face.

"So you really are that parasitic Red Coral."

"Yes."

I only found out not long ago myself.

After the Dream-Eating Mo sensed the sorrow contained in this Dream Bubble, it kindly hid it at the very bottom.

"Sheng indirectly destroyed your body, so he will never get the antidote to the White Ray toxin in this life."

"Yes."

Moreover, he has now completely lost the support of the Monster Research Institute. It won't be long before he turns into a pool of black water.

After I became immortal, I forgot my past. It was only after meeting you that I remembered.

"Using you to save him was real, but liking you was also real."

"I wasn't playing with you."

"But this explanation comes too late. I apologize to you."

Tears were already forming in Sa'er's eyes.

He pushed me down onto the sofa, rubbed his face against me, and said, "Thank you, Suiyu."

"Thank me for what?"

"Thank you for not giving up on me even though my temper is so bad."

I wouldn't. After all, the world is vast, but only Sa'er is the one who could see straight into my heart at first glance.
