Chapter Ten LOGAN
Chapter Ten
LOGAN
Kissing Bex was still one of my favorite things to do.
The first time I kissed her had changed my life.
I was almost thirteen and, in that moment, I knew I was kissing my wife.
The first time we used tongue was not what I had expected.
I almost came in my pants at that point.
And all of that was still years before we had sex for the first time.
Well, actual intercourse, at least. Before that we had learned much about each other’s bodies.
None of that compared to kissing her in my bed. Despite the circumstances. I knew she’d had a bad day. I figured when she stormed from the room that she needed to let things out.
What I didn’t expect was to hear her sobbing all the way from the living room. Dom and I shared a look and I told him not to worry. That I would handle it.
I wasn’t sure what I would find. The one thing I knew was that seeing Bex huddled on the floor off my shower crying, was not it.
The sight of her crumpled like that tore my heart out.
I knew we’d had a hard twenty-four hours and we both were waiting for Dom to break down.
But obviously she needed to do so, as well.
Going to her wasn’t even optional. It was mandatory. The only thing my brain told me to do.
And when she told me she wanted me, I wanted nothing more than to be buried deep inside her.
Still, I needed to give her an out. She needed to know I would never forgive myself if she regretted things in the morning.
I wanted to let her know I was not leaving.
But that was a conversation for another day.
I pulled out of the kiss and lowered my mouth to her neck. A memory buried deep resurfaced and I smiled as my tongue snaked up her jaw to the spot just where her earlobe met her jawline.
The moan I was rewarded with, was satisfying as hell.
“You remembered.” Her voice was a harsh whisper.
“I remember everything about you, Becky.” I pushed myself lower as my mouth came level with her breasts. “I remember how your nipples darkened when they became hard. And I remember how you used to moan when I took them in my mouth.”
I was about to do just that when I paused.
Bex frowned at me. “What? Why’d you stop.”
“Becky, you need to be quiet. Dom is in the next room. We don’t want him scarred from hearing us.”
She rolled her eyes. “Please, we’re used to having to be quiet. Now, it’s our teenage son. It used to be my parents we needed to be quiet for.”
That was the first time either of us had referred to Dom as our son. It wasn’t that I didn’t think he was. I just didn’t want to dishonor the people who had done the actual parenting. But that was something to unpack at another time.
Knowing she would be quiet, I took her nipple into my mouth. Slowly, I toyed with the hard peak, loving how she squirmed under me. I gave the same attention to the other breast.
“Lo, I need you now.” Her voice rough. “No more fucking foreplay.”
“Nah-uh.” I smiled. “I want to enjoy this.”
My tongue traveled lower, sucking at the softness of her abdomen.
Bex worked out. With the job she had, she had no choice but to be fit.
And after the shooting last year and nearly losing one of her friends, she was even more determined to be as strong as she could be.
And yet, she didn’t overdo it. She was still soft in places and I loved that.
“Logan, I swear you can enjoy torturing me another time.” She kept her voice low but the lust was evident in the way she spoke. “I’ll even suck your dick while you eat me. Just. Not. Now.”
The images she brought to mind had me stifling a groan as well. I relented and crawled back up to her. “You on the pill?”
“What?”
“I haven’t been with anyone since I moved back to town.” I hated that I needed to talk about safe sex. “And before that I always used a condom.”
Bex was the only woman I had been with where I didn’t use a condom. And that was only after I found out she was pregnant.
She looked away from me. “I’m completely safe.” She looked guilty and I couldn’t understand why. “I had a full STD panel done after Curtis. Both Jess and I did. We’re both clean.”
That was when I understood. She’d gone without a condom with her ex-fiancé. And he’d been having unprotected sex with at least one other woman.
I moved her face to look at me. “Sweetheart, listen to me.” She moved her gaze to mine. “You did nothing wrong. He cheated on you.”
“But you waited—"
“Bex, we are not bringing that asshole into this bed. Ever.” I pushed onto both my forearms. “All I need to know is that we’re both in a good place to not wear a condom.”
She rolled her eyes and looked at me. “Then, yes, we are protected.”
I pulled down my briefs, which were still damp from my time with her in the shower.
Taking my erection, I placed it at her entrance.
While I didn’t shove into her, it was not a slow affair, either.
As soon as I was buried to the hilt, we both let out a moan.
Mine was into the pillow while Bex groaned into my shoulder.
I hoped it could not be heard beyond the door to my bedroom.
“Fuck, it feels so good being back inside you.”
Her nails dug into my back. “I missed you.”
Yeah, I did, too. Missed her, missed everything about being the man in Rebecca Salinger’s life.
Slowly I pulled out and then pushed back in.
Bex lifted her head peppering kisses along my jaw before returning to my shoulder.
I wasn’t sure if I would have bite marks, or a hickey, on my shoulder.
Not that it mattered. Bex could mark me any way she wanted.
I was hers in every single way. She’d had my friendship since that first day of kindergarten.
She got my heart somewhere around the time I realized what love was.
Not the friendship kind or even the familial kind.
Rather, that bone-deep, only one for me, butterflies, and sweaty palms kind of love that came with finding your soul mate.
She had my body. And with every fiber I had, I would give her a family.
Everything I had was hers. Rebecca Salinger and Logan Evans forever.
Just like she wrote in her notebooks all those years ago.
The sensation of being bare inside her was a lot to handle. No man could last when the woman he loved was rippling around him. She was close, I was close. But I needed to get her there first.
I rested on one elbow while I pushed the other hand between us. My thumb brushed over her clit… and mother fucking Christ. She gripped me hard enough I needed to recite baseball stats in my head.
Once again, I brushed a finger over her clit, better prepared for the vice grip of her pussy around my cock. Over and over, I circled that bundle of nerves until her nails scored into my back.
“Logan.” Her mouth was in my neck and only I could hear that rough whisper. “Logan, don’t stop.”
“I won’t baby, but you need to get there.” I lowered my face so my lips were at her ear. “You feel so fucking good, I don’t think I can hold on much longer.”
She let out a strangled moan. Her walls gripped me tighter than I had ever felt before as she chanted my name and went over the edge. Feeling her around me triggered my own orgasm and I emptied myself deep inside her, coming harder than I ever had.
As soon as my mind returned to my body, I rolled off her and caught my breath.
I was up and off the bed, warming a cloth in the bathroom, and back in the bedroom before Bex had caught her breath.
I washed her off as gently as I could and returned the cloth before climbing back in the bed next to her.
Only then did I realize that in all my years in New York, all the women I’d had in my bed, Bex was the only woman I ever held after sex. I always thought I was not a cuddler. That my time with Bex was not who I really was. But that wasn’t right.
Bex was the only person I wanted skin-to-skin with me after sex. God, I was an asshole. But sex made one vulnerable and I didn’t want to be that close to anyone after that. Like they would see my hurt and my loneliness. All I wanted was Bex.
Our breathing became more regulated and Bex turned to me. “I’m really scared.”
“Why?” I was scared as well, but I wanted to know if we were afraid of the same thing. “For Dom?”
“Honestly, I think my brothers and I have what it takes to protect him.” She took my hand. “But I don’t want them to leave. All of them. I know it's only been a day, but they belong with us, Lo.”
I held her close, breathing her in. “I know. I was just thinking our greatest adversary is not the people he witnessed killing his family, but rather social services.”
“We’ll fight them, too. Together.”
