Prologue

MILLIE

I lift the red solo cup of beer to my lips, glancing around the room. The atmosphere in a place like this is a million times more intoxicating than whatever’s in my cup right now, and as I lock eyes with one of the men looking right at me, I feel a fizz at the bottom of my stomach.

Something tells me that this night is only just getting started.

Even though it’s just another casual college party to some, for me, it feels like the most exciting place in the world. My brother’s house, the one that he shares with his three roommates, is alight with conversation and laughter, a handful of people dancing in the front room as they pair off.

Matt, for his part, is chatting up some girl in the kitchen, his eyes entirely off the ball when it comes to me. I’ve only just turned nineteen and I know I shouldn’t be drinking, but it’s only a couple of beers, and besides, it’s far from my first time.

And I don’t want to stand out in this place as the one just-out-of-high-schooler when everyone at this party seems so…

refined. They haven’t spent their lives in my tiny small town, where I grew up with my brother.

They haven’t whiled away the hours trying to figure out the best course of action for getting out of there, only to wind up with a stone-cold nothing.

I’m currently trying to get into college to train as a nurse, but I slacked off in high school and that’s left me a little behind everyone else who’s putting in their applications at the same time.

But here? Here, I’m not some dropout struggling to make it. No, I’m an adult, just like everyone else in this room, a grown woman who knows just what she wants. And right now, what I want is beer, buzz, and the way my brother’s roommates are looking at me.

Matt introduced me to all of them when I first got here, of course.

There’s Ross, the oldest, with his short brown hair and blue eyes, that smattering of designer stubble that looks oh-so-refined on his strong jawline.

James, with his overgrown dark hair and a few tattoos peeking out from under the confines of his white tee.

And Cole, who looks every bit the American dreamboat—curly blond hair and blue eyes and broad shoulders that look like they would be a better fit on a beach somewhere in California than studying medicine in New York City.

Mustering all of my courage, I peel myself away from the wall and make my way over to them, sauntering with all the nonchalance I can muster.

James grins as I draw closer, his eyebrow cocking. “You bored already?”

“Why do you say that?” I laugh, tipping my head to the side in confusion.

“Spending time with the roommates. Safety net.”

“Or maybe I just want to get to know the guys my brother is living with,” I protest playfully.

“Why, need to make sure we’re a good influence on him?” Cole cuts in.

“Oh, trust me, I know he’s the bad influence if he’s anything.” I giggle, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear.

I don’t know what I’m doing right now, don’t know exactly where I plan to take this, but the way it feels to have them looking at me like that…

yeah, that’s the kind of thing I can’t just brush off like it’s nothing.

It’s not as though I’m entirely useless when it comes to guys, but I’ve never had to choose between three perfect options, and I almost want to be greedy and just have all three to myself, as crazy as that sounds.

“And what about you?” Ross asks, lifting his chin slightly, surveying me with interest.

“What about me?”

“Are you a bad influence?”

I part my lips in surprise, not entirely sure how to respond.

Of course, I want to deny it, but right now, my parents think I’m exploring the city in the hopes of finding a place of my own. Instead, I’m drinking at a college party, and I doubt they would be entirely impressed if they found out.

“Maybe,” I reply, feeling a little fizz in my chest at the thought. “Why? Are you easily influenced?”

They exchange a glance, and I can see some silent communication passing between the three of them. I’m pretty sure I can make sense of some of it, but I don’t know exactly where it leaves me. I flick my gaze between them, trying to drink in the nuances, but there’s so much I don’t know.

And so much I want to find out.

“Depends what you’re trying to influence us into,” James replies, lifting the beer bottle to his lips.

His mouth skims over the top of it, and I’m drawn to the way his lips look against the glass.

Fuck. I can already imagine what it might feel like to have that mouth on me instead, and I don’t know what I’m supposed to do, how I’m supposed to advance this to the next level.

“Hmm, well, you’re the college boys,” I remind them, furrowing my brow as though I genuinely don’t know. “What kind of thing do you get up to here?”

“When we’re trying to avoid studying?” Ross chuckles, shaking his head. “Uh…”

“Making bad decisions,” James says. “Preferably at parties like this one.”

“And what kind of bad decisions do you think I should make?” I ask, as though I’m genuinely curious. “I mean, I came to visit Matt to get a feel for what life was like in college, so it’s really up to you guys to give me the full experience…”

James is the first to step toward me; there’s something in the way he looks at me, something that makes my toes curl in the heels I slipped into this evening.

I shoot a look over my shoulder to make sure Matt isn’t looking in our direction, but he’s still lost in conversation with the girl he’s chatting up, and I don’t intend to interrupt his flow anytime soon.

“Come upstairs,” James murmurs, glancing to the door. “And we’ll show you.”

We? My mind reels as I try to make sense of that, of what he’s saying to me.

He speaks with the confidence of someone who already knows what he wants, and will do anything in his power to get it.

Neither of the others seem to react to his statement, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world.

Ross, James, and Cole stare back at me, letting the words hang there in the air, making sure that I have no doubt in my mind as to what they’re referring to.

The question is whether I dare to take them up on it, or if this is way, way more than I can handle.

Three guys. Three guys at once. It’s not exactly what I’m used to. But what is this trip for, if not expanding my boundaries, seeing how far I can push myself? I down the last of my beer, run a hand through my hair, and muster every inch of courage in my system.

“I’m staying in the guest room,” I murmur, looking between the three of them. “Don’t let Matt see you, okay…?”

And with that, I turn on my heel and make for the stairs, heart thudding in my chest.

I can’t believe I’m doing this.

Wait, is this actually happening? I don’t know what to make of it, don’t know if they’re going to open that door and laugh in my face when they see me waiting for them, but honestly, at this point, I’m willing to find out.

What’s wrong with taking a little risk and finding out what lies on the other side?

If I pass up the chance to be with these men, I know I’ll be thinking about it for the rest of my life, and I don’t want to give myself anything to look back on and regret.

I take the stairs two at a time, noticing a couple of people glancing in my direction as I do.

God, this is crazy, and I know it, but I don’t want it to stop.

I can feel the heat rising in my belly at the thought of all of them—three men, six hands, a trio of mouths, all focused on me.

It’s never even something I’ve fantasized about before, but as I face down the reality of it now, it feels like the most obvious thing in the world.

I slip into the guest room and perch on the end of the bed. I cross and uncross my legs, wondering if this is all some huge joke at my expense. I mean, it could be, right? It’s not like I have any business going after three guys at once.

In fact, now that I put it like that, it sounds even more crazy. No, this must be a prank, and someone’s going to open the door and laugh at me for thinking for a second that I might—

But then, the door opens. A figure stands there, framed by the light, and for a moment, I’m not sure who it is.

Then Ross steps forward, moving between my legs, hands on my shoulders as he gazes down at me. I part my lips, and before I can say a word, he plants his lips against mine.

His tongue enters my mouth at once. There’s no way this is a joke, no way someone would take it this far just for a game.

No, this is real—I can taste it on his tongue, feel it in the way his hands grip at me.

He wants me, and he doesn’t care who knows it.

And right now, all I can think about is if he is the only one.

He pushes me back on the bed, climbing on top of me and pinning me there as he kisses me again.

I can feel the hardness of his cock straining through his pants, and it sends a throb of excitement through my veins.

I have had some sexual experience, of course, but nothing even close to this.

His hands move against my waist, gripping tight, like he’s making sure I know who I belong to.

And then, I feel a weight on the bed next to me, and I turn—to find my lips met by James, his hand in my hair as he pulls me close to him.

Another pair of hands slide up my legs, tugging up my skirt. Cole?

All of them here, with me, touching me, their warm bodies closing around me like it’s the most natural thing in the world…

James bites down on my lip, drawing my attention back to him, and I moan against him helplessly as I buck my hips against Ross.

Ross moves his hands to my arms, pinning them against the bed, and presses his mouth to my neck, his warm breath on my skin as Cole pulls up my skirt.

Cole’s hands roam to my ass, not an inch of my body untouched, and for a moment, the sheer pleasure is almost overwhelming.
